Obituary for Marr

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 30, 2002

Irma Dean Marr, age 62, our beloved and caring mother, grandmother, and friend died suddenly and unexpectedly at Lovelace Hospital on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 4:50 p.m. Irma was born and raised on a small farm near County Line, OK. She married her pen pal, Sammy Hank Marr in 1956 and moved to Vacaville, CA to live in the house that Sammy built. Over the next 46 years together they raised their four children and lived in Fairfield, CA, Clovis, NM, Duncan, OK, Alamogordo, NM and finally settled in Albuquerque in 1976 when Sammy was transferred to Kirtland AFB. Irma was a quiet wife and devoted homemaker who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. She stayed by her husband's side and cared for him until he passed away from prostate cancer. She was full of life and love and her sudden passing six days after her husband's death is a shock to all who knew her. She will be loved and missed forever by her son, Ron and his two children, Brian and Ben; son, Jerry and wife, Mila of Los Angeles; her daughter, Debbie La Pierre and her husband, Chris; her daughter, Brenda Guzman and her husband, Gabe of Boston; and her dearest friend, Due Moore III of Bosque Farms. Cremation and arrangements are being made by the Sunrise Society of New Mexico, 2111 Wyoming NE in Albuquerque, 891-2000. It was her wish that no services be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
