CARLSON, HARRY B. Harry was born in Greeley, CO on October 16, 1928. He was the last child of nine children born to Charles and Hulda (Leafgren) Carlson. He was born at the Greeley nursing home rather than on the family farm. His next oldest brother was 12 lbs. at birth, an experience his mother didn't want to repeat at home. Harry was a resident of Corrales, NM for 30+ years and died of natural causes on December 16, 2014 at the age of 86. Harry grew up in the small town of Eaton, CO. His oldest brother and father died when he was five years old. Harry graduated from Eaton High School as class president in 1946. After graduation, he enrolled in Colorado State University, but returned to farming with his brother after one year. He then enlisted in the Air Force and was trained in Mississippi and then stationed in Florida in the First Missile Division. After being honorably discharged, he enrolled at University of Colorado, Boulder where he earned a degree with honors in civil engineering. At his first job with the Trane Corp. he was reeducated as a mechanical engineer and worked in St. Paul, MN. It was there, in 1960, that he met and married Mary Alger (M.K.) and adopted into his heart her daughter, Deborah. Nine months later, they added another daughter to their family with the birth of Nancy. After transferring to Denver with Trane Corp. they had their son, Byron. He then worked for Control Data Corporation in Alamogordo, NM and then El Paso, TX, finally settling in Albuquerque, NM in 1970. In 1971, Harry opened his own business, Carlson Heating and Air Conditioning. He took pride in being a fair and honest businessman as well as a good employer. He retired in 1990 after selling his business to his son (who continues to operate it today as B. Carlson Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing, Inc.). As a young man, Harry enjoyed taking a date to Elitch's and Estes Park, CO to dance to the big bands of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Harry could play a decent game of pool, enjoyed breakfast with the boys, solitaire on his iPad, jigsaw puzzles, his 5 o'clock glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, traveling with his wife, reading philosophy and ethics, feeding his dog, Max under the table, taking his grandkids for tractor rides, a good game of golf, and whistling or singing songs from the 1940's and 1950's. Harry was an active member of the Episcopal Church, first at St. Aidan's, then at the Cathedral of St. John, and finally at St. Francis. Even as Harry's health declined, he was able to live at home and continue driving. He maintained his positive attitude, a song in his heart, and his sense of humor. Harry is survived by his wife, M.K. of 54 years; daughter, Deb (Ken) Newell of Spring Valley, CA; daughter, Nan (Steve) of Grand Junction, CO; son, Byron (Rayne) of Corrales, NM; grandchildren, Jessica Don (21), Brenton Carlson (19), Davis Carlson (17), and Meagan Newell (17); brother Charles; his dog, Max; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Earl, Leonard (Jiggs), and Walter (Perk) ; and sisters Maybel (May), Doris, Louella (Lou) and Gladys (Gladdy). A Memorial Service will be held on December 29, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rio Rancho, NM (Cabezon & Golf Course Road). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Harry's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico (9500 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111) or to the First Tee of Greater Albuquerque (11024 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111). We ask you to remember Harry with his favorite advice: "Don't take any wooden nickels!". GONZALES, ALEX J. Alex J. Gonzales was born on November 20, 1938. He had a life bursting with new experiences, friends, and adventure and that is why he lives forever in our hearts. He left the world as a strong man in his favorite hat draped in flying colors. To us, he was a superhero and he lives on in our memories and in the character he taught us. He wouldn't want us to stand at his grave and cry because he is not there, he did not die. Talk with us. We'll share his story. He never stopped learning and he gave us the best gift of all, the thirst for knowledge. He had a strong love for family, a passion for travel and thrived in everything he did. He loved his grandkids and was involved in their lives immensely. He traveled over eight countries, biked 100 miles races, fished the water of many states, boated and skied, and learned to play guitar. He was always seeking new and exciting challenges. He loved life. He was an accomplished man. He served in the U.S. Reserves, retired from PNM with 25 years of service at the age of 47 and thereafter earned his BA in Business Computer Systems at UNM. He had a second career in the banking industry. In his lifetime, he continually gave back to the community with his involvement as president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, memberships in Rotary, Elks Club, Special Olympics, the board of Altamont Little League where he managed and coached teams, and many other community organizations. His legacy was the character of the man he taught us all to be and the model for everyone to follow. He always treated every person he met with respect and everyone he met walked away from him as a friend. He took his last breath on earth and took his first breath in heaven on December 20, 2014. "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23. He has been reunited with his grandparents, Benigno and Eufemia Jaramillo and his mother, Mary Garcia and his infant daughter, Mary Ester. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Felicita Gonzales; and his children and grandchildren: Steven Gonzales and wife Susan and children, Melissa and husband Ben Olson and Emily and husband Cesar Lopez; Richard Gonzales and wife Terri and son, Alan; Patricia Davis and husband Michael and children, Elena and Jenna; Mark Gonzales and wife Kimberly and children, Alexandria, Isabel, and Ciarra; as well as many cousins. Born on October 30, 1921 in St. Louis Missouri, Bob served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII. After the war, he attended the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor's degree in Education as well as his Master's degree in Education. Bob briefly tried his hand at real estate and insurance, however he soon returned to his true passion; coaching. He taught at Comanche Elementary until he retired at the age of 65. Bob, clearly a talented and well-loved teacher, would frequently be greeted around town with an affectionate "Hey Coach!" from a former student he had coached as a child, now all grown up. He was a skilled athlete, artist, teacher, and craftsman and after retirement he continued to be as creative and motivated as ever. He enjoyed several hobbies, traveled extensively with his wife, was always mastering the latest technology, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Donna was a graduate of Valley High School in Albuquerque, of which she was very proud to have been a Viking. Donna and Ellis were married in Albuquerque on December 25, 1963 and almost made it to 51 years together. Donna often joked that Ellis should not ever forget their anniversary. Donna became a very private person upon her retirement and should be remembered for her endurance as a super fighter of MS, and her continued unlimited endurance without ever complaining about her many struggles with MS, even up to and including her final days. Donna and her family would want those that knew her to remember her in your prayers and to know that she has finally escaped the wrath of MS and is now resting in peace. Jim met the love of his life at 17, and married Jeannie Crowe in 1953, the same day he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. Jim "Schultz" Womack flew single-seat, single engine fighter aircraft until he retired in December of 1987. He held many command positions, retiring as Chief of Staff for the NMANG, with the rank of Brigadier General, which he wore as a mission-ready pilot for over five years. In addition to his Guard career, Jim actively practiced law in Albuquerque as a business and real estate attorney for 34 years, retiring from his practice in 1995.
