GONZALES, ALEX J. Alex J. Gonzales was born on November 20, 1938. He had a life bursting with new experiences, friends, and adventure and that is why he lives forever in our hearts. He left the world as a strong man in his favorite hat draped in flying colors. To us, he was a superhero and he lives on in our memories and in the character he taught us. He wouldn't want us to stand at his grave and cry because he is not there, he did not die. Talk with us. We'll share his story. He never stopped learning and he gave us the best gift of all, the thirst for knowledge. He had a strong love for family, a passion for travel and thrived in everything he did. He loved his grandkids and was involved in their lives immensely. He traveled over eight countries, biked 100 miles races, fished the water of many states, boated and skied, and learned to play guitar. He was always seeking new and exciting challenges. He loved life. He was an accomplished man. He served in the U.S. Reserves, retired from PNM with 25 years of service at the age of 47 and thereafter earned his BA in Business Computer Systems at UNM. He had a second career in the banking industry. In his lifetime, he continually gave back to the community with his involvement as president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, memberships in Rotary, Elks Club, Special Olympics, the board of Altamont Little League where he managed and coached teams, and many other community organizations. His legacy was the character of the man he taught us all to be and the model for everyone to follow. He always treated every person he met with respect and everyone he met walked away from him as a friend. He took his last breath on earth and took his first breath in heaven on December 20, 2014. "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23. He has been reunited with his grandparents, Benigno and Eufemia Jaramillo and his mother, Mary Garcia and his infant daughter, Mary Ester. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Felicita Gonzales; and his children and grandchildren: Steven Gonzales and wife Susan and children, Melissa and husband Ben Olson and Emily and husband Cesar Lopez; Richard Gonzales and wife Terri and son, Alan; Patricia Davis and husband Michael and children, Elena and Jenna; Mark Gonzales and wife Kimberly and children, Alexandria, Isabel, and Ciarra; as well as many cousins. Alex will be honored with a Rosary on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH Wyoming. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 31, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
