COFFING, GORDON DALE (1932-2014) Gordon Dale Coffing, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2014, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on October 16, 1932, in Auburn, Indiana to Dale and Lucille Coffing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carmen (aka Randy) Coffing; and seven children: Gregory (Benny), Dale (Tracy), Stephen (Joan), Mark (Carol), James, Claire (Mark) and Christopher (Natalie); 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Gordon served his country honorably and proudly in the US Army Security Agency and retired as Sergeant Major after 22 years of service. His military awards include Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two OLC, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal with OLC, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. After service to his country, he attended the University of New Mexico and completed his bachelor's degree. He accepted a position with Texas Instruments in Houston, TX and worked in the semi-conductor industry. In 1988 he returned to Albuquerque where he worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as an IT specialist and retired from USACE in 1999. While in retirement he provided IT consulting for his sons and their startup business as a Microsoft Certified Professional. In 1996 Gordon found a love for RVing and shared that love as a "Wagon Master" with Adventure Caravans leading other RV enthusiasts through Alaska, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the USA. Not being one to sit on his laurels, Gordon went back to school while in retirement and earned his MBA from the American Military University. Gordon was an exceptional example of a husband, father, protector and provider for his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren to emulate. Mass will be celebrated at Risen Savior Catholic Church located at 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
