BANTNER, ROBERT JAMES Robert James Bantner, age 87, of Albuquerque, was embraced by Our Lord in Heaven on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Bantner's life began in Assumption, Illinois on August 26, 1927. He then travelled in service with the United States Navy for 24 years. His service spanned from the end of WWII to the end of the Vietnam War. He spent 20 years living in Estancia where he ran a successful plumbing business and was heavily involved in politics. Bantner was preceded in death by his father John Bantner; mother Emma Keating; two brothers; one sister; and great-granddaughter, Jade Lily Chavez . He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Della Bantner; four daughters Nancy Chavez and husband Dale, Bonnie Torres and husband James, Gina Mora and husband Isidoro, and Dolores Marie Bonilla and husband John. Robert and Della were blessed with thirteen grandchildren, Angela Adkins and husband Joshua, Fernando Chavez and wife April, Felipe Chavez, Adrian Chavez, Anita Salazar and husband Jeremy, Anthony Chavez, Michael Mora, Elias Mora, Michelle Mora, Santiago Apodaca, Mariah Apodaca, Angelica Bonilla and Armando Bonilla. Robert also enjoyed his eight great-grandchildren, Russell Chavez, Gracie Chavez, Xavier Chavez, Elijah Chavez, Gabriel Chavez, Tyler Chavez, Maria Salazar and Ana Salazar. The Viewing will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on Monday, December 29th beginning at 9:00am. Viewing will be immediately followed by The Rosary at 9:30am and Funeral Mass at 10am . Internment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date.
