In 1946, her family, including brothers, Edward, Jr. and Richard, were on their way to California to find better work. In Albuquerque, the tires on their car wore out. In 1949, she was introduced by her best friend to Calvin Cox, Jr., who became the love of her life and husband for 53 years. Their family grew quickly with the births of Timothy and Karen. Because of Calvin's work with Sandia National Laboratories, they were transferred to Alamogordo, then to Las Cruces where their last child, Kenneth, was born. In 1974, they transferred back to Albuquerque. Beverly worked for Equifax both in Las Cruces and Albuquerque. She enjoyed her work and made life long friends there. PARZYCK -- Thomas Edward Parzyck, 58, died on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born in Detroit, MI, of first generation Polish immigrants. Tom attended Sacred Heart Seminary for high school. He graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor of Science degree, and received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1975. Tom came to Albuquerque in 1975 as an intern in Internal Medicine at UNM, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine. He was Chief Medical Resident at UNM from 1978-1979. He was a Fellow in Pulmonary Disease at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center 1979-1980, and then became a Pulmonary Fellow at UNM. Tom was both an Instructor in Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UNM between the years of 1980 and 1994. Dr. Parzyck was in private practice with Southwest Pulmonary Specialists and later PHS PMG Pulmonary in Albuquerque. In 1994 he researched, lobbied for, and initiated the Presbyterian Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Dr. Thomas Parzyck was a dedicated physician with an unwavering commitment to excellence, and he was an outspoken advocate for patient care. Tom was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American College of Physicians, American Thoracic Society, American Medical Association, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and American College Chest Physicians. He was an Emergency Room Physician at BCMC and an Emergency Medical Officer at the United States Air Force Hospital in Oklahoma. Tom is survived by his wife, Beverly; his son, Christopher; his mother, Eleanor Parzyck (Dearborn Heights, MI); his brothers, Rodger (Kalamazoo, MI), David (Detroit, MI), Kevin (LaGrange, IL), and Tim (Paso Robles, CA); and his sister, Patricia Ann Pathuis (Scottsdale, AZ). He was predeceased by his father, Frank Edward Parzyck. In his mid-thirties he went to the University of Pittsburg for a liver transplant, due to an idiopathic disease. The first transplant failed within a week and another match was found and he was re-transplanted. At that time his insurance carrier considered liver transplantation "experimental" and refused medical coverage. The Albuquerque medical community rallied and donated funds to pay for his transplant medications for many years until his coverage was finally approved. From that time until his death he battled cancer, had a total knee replacement, MDS, until he succumbed to cancer on November 8, 2008. Thomas Parzyck loved life. He did not complain of his illnesses, he followed his faith, and never gave up. He was passionate about the outdoors; he loved hiking, camping, sailing, and was an accomplished fly fisherman. He was an exceptional gardener, was as active in the Boy Scouts as his health permitted, and he was an avid reader. Above all, Tom loved his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, friend, and physician. The family would like to thank Paul "Ed" Pierce, MD, Tom's physician, who cared for Tom's health-related issues for over three decades. Beverly and Christopher are forever indebted to Clark Haskins, MD, Tom's lifelong friend, colleague, and physician, who provided outstanding care until the end of Tom's life. The family would also like to thank many of the other physicians in the Albuquerque medical community for their expertise, friendship, support, compassion, and prayers during his extended illness. ROSS -- L. Renee (formerly Lucille Eisenbrey), 78 of Bosque Farms, died peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Renee is survived by her devoted husband, Spencer Barnett, six children, eleven grandchildren and four beloved dogs. Her extended family will miss this most extraordinary woman. Born in Cleveland in 1930, Renee enrolled in nursing school where she met her first husband, Dr. A. Bradley Eisenbrey. They moved their growing family to Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan where she remained until 1985. Renee's restless mind and immense energy were expressed in culinary flair, raucous piano and singing sessions, beautiful needlepoint, an amateur acting career and political activism. Following her divorce, Renee returned to school to earn both a bachelor's degree in political science and a Master's in public administration in just three years. She then worked with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging to create innovative programs to bring area youth to work in the elderly community and served on the board of the League of Women Voters. She also chaired the Detroit-East Chapter of the Older Women's League. For these many contributions to the community, she was honored by the Michigan Legislature with a joint resolution in 1985. Renee then moved with her new husband, Spencer, to Bosque Farms where she designed their home and where she lived to the present. She worked as a supervisor with the New Mexico Department of Human Services in the Income Support Division, retiring after ten years. She served as a docent at the New Mexico Natural History Museum between trips to Europe and around the United States to visit her friends and children. Her twenty eight years with Spencer in her adopted home of New Mexico were the happiest of her life. Please visit our online guestbook at RememberTheirStory.com. TRUJILLO -- Marie Elizabeth Sass Trujillo, 63, passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2008 at 10:01 a.m., at the University of New Mexico hospital. She was born on August 21, 1945 in Los Alamos, NM to Harriett and Edward J. Sass. She is survived by her son Marc and his dear wife Linda; and his father Joseph; sister Carol and her daughter Molly and devoted husband Bill; sister Trish her and son Michael Usner and adored wife Rebecca and their son Zachary and daughter Avari, long time companion Augusto; and animals Ursa, Baby Red, and Jessica. Marie attended Los Alamos high school (voted most attractive), and the University of New Mexico, where she majored in foreign languages with a double bachelors degree in Russian and German. She later founded and operated Firebird Productions, a successful advertising agency which specialized in non-profit organizations and the fine arts in New Mexico. Cultural interests drew her to such locations as the Great pyramids in Egypt and the Louvre in Paris. Marie relocated to New Jersey for several years, enjoying the cultural wealth of New York City and working for Canon. She eventually returned to New Mexico to be closer to her mother Harriett, sister Trish, and later, sister Carol. Witty, strong willed and independent, she had a broad and eclectic range of interests, including language, opera and classical music, fine arts, history, religion and poetry. She enjoyed exotic cooking, fine dining, playing the piano, and had a deep appreciation for painting, sculpture, and architecture. She possessed an intense amount of pride in her only son, who graduated from Yale University and is a 2008 Guggenheim fellow in fine art. Unafraid to speak the truth to power, her sharp, refreshingly blunt sense of humor was extremely entertaining and never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those that loved her. Her excellent memory, passion, and engaging personality will continue to enrich the lives of those that knew her well. Her sudden departure was a shock to her family, who love and miss her deeply. A private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Gifts in her memory should be made to Best Friends animal rescue: http://www.bestfriends.org.
