MONTANO -- Lucio A. Montano, 86, longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; sons, Arthur Montano and wife, Jo, Ralph Montano and wife, Barbara, Ruben Montano and wife, Lynn, and Mark Montano and wife, Angela; daughters, Margaret Lucero and husband, Louis, and Edwina Garcia and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Arthur, Manuel and wife, Gina, Jessica and husband, Mario, Chris and wife, Victoria, Ruben and wife, Mollisa, Lawrence, Michael, Samuel and wife, Patrize, Marcos, Daniel, Steven, Esteban, Chris, Marriah; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ragine, Ramon, Kahn, Solomon, Joshua, Brandon, Cameron, Cameo, Gabriel, Angelina, Alyssa, and Vanessa; brother-in-law, Willie Lopez and wife, Rose; numerous nieces and nephews; and several extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Andres Montano and Angel Marie Garcia; brothers, Elauterio, Alfonso, Gregorio, Prudencio, Simon and Leandro Montano; and sister, Domitilia Gonzales. Lucio was born January 8, 1922 in El Porvenir, NM near Las Vegas. He joined the US Army in November of 1942 and served in the Pacific during WWII visiting many islands. After WWII, Mr. Montano raised his children in San Jose. He was proud of serving his country and was very active in the DAV chapter 3 and VFW post 401. On December 31, 1947 he and Irene married and moved to Albuquerque where Lucio went to work for Kirtland AFB and then retired in 1978. He then started his own business, Monty's Lawn Service and Landscaping. He also loved to spend time at his cabin in Gallinas Canyon and spending time with his family. Lucio was a beloved husband and father and was a caregiver for Irene for many years. Rosary will be recited Monday, November 17, 2008, 6:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with visitation one hour prior to rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
