Obituary for FELTER

Dr. Jack Felter, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at home, on November 9, 2008. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quick smile, sincere willingness to help, and a sense of humor that was with him to the very end. Jack was a loving father and grandfather and his family meant the world to him. He was born December 23, 1926 to Mae and Alph Felter, in Dayton, OH. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Felter; son, Jeff Felter of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughter, Nancy Shelton and her husband Patrick of Corrales, NM; two grandchildren, Marielle Shelton and Arianna Shelton, both of Corrales, NM; three nephews, James Felter of Scottsdale, AZ, Mike Felter of Mesa, AZ, Dick Felter of Farmington, NM; one niece, Rhea Anderson of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; five sisters; and niece Linda Cardin. Jack was a resident of Albuquerque for 51 years. He was an optometrist in Albuquerque for 46 years and was very active in both State and National levels of the Optometric Association. He was an Ohio State alumni and fan, a dedicated Lobo fan, an avid golfer, and a WWII Veteran of the Navy. The Felter family would like to thank everyone with Heartland Hospice for their kind care of our father, and their support of our family-especially Julie Ann, Evencio, Becky, Jennifer, John, and Tad. We would like to give a special thanks to Dora, June, Wendy, and Kaleb, with Home Care Assistance, who loved and cared for our father in his last days and prepared him for his journey to heaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho.
