ADLER -- Lucile Adler, of Santa Fe, died peacefully while napping on June 8, 2005. She was born in Kansas City, MO on September 9, 1922 to Millard and Lucile Meinrath Bloch, who both preceded her in death, as did her sisters, Jane Bloch and Mary Drey and Lu's beloved husband, Nat, with whom she had moved to Santa Fe around 1950. John Adler, her son, his wife, MaryMargaret McClure and their son, Nathaniel Adler survive her; also daughter Kathleen and her husband, Larry Harms; as well as cousins, Joan Berkley, Bud Meinrath, John Kander, and their families. Lu Adler will be missed by many friends and people with whom she had worked as an advocate for Peace and Womens' and all people's rights. She leaves us with a wealth of her deeply moving poetry. A gathering to celebrate the life of Lucile Adler, will be held on Friday, July 15, 2005 from 4:30 till 6:30 at the Audubon Center at the top of upper Canyon Road in Santa Fe. Due to limited parking, please car pool. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the ACLU or Planned Parenthood would have pleased her.

ATTERBOM -- Hemming A. Atterbom Ph.D., 66, professor of exercise physiology at UNM, and a 30+ year resident of Albuquerque, recently of Valdosta, GA, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 in a Jacksonville, FL hospital after losing a brief and fierce battle against cancer. His wife and the youngest two of his six children were at his side when he took his last breath. He left us fully aware that he was about to take a long walk with our Lord Jesus Christ, and was at peace with that knowledge. Hemming leaves behind a wife, Gerd Atterbom; an ex-wife, Mary I. Neel; six children: Kim Bloomer and husband Donnie, Paula Whittlesey, Jimmy Watson, Jerry Watson, Hemming E. Atterbom Jr. and wife Bridget Atterbom, and Per-Hjalmar Atterbom with partner Melanie Farmer. Hemming had seven grandchildren: Sonia Whittlesey, Tawnee Watson, Chase Watson, Kaden Watson, Hannah Lamure-Dalton, Skyler Atterbom, and Sabrina Atterbom. Also left behind are three siblings of Sweden: Torsten Atterbom, Per-Lennart Atterbom, and Gabrielle Atterbom-Olmarker. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (Lomas at Tennessee ) on Friday, July 15, 2005, at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.

CALDWELL -- RONALD H. Capt. Ronald H. Caldwell, USN (Ret.), born February 18, 1928 on the Pioneer Ranch in Monte Vista, CO to Ralph and Anna Caldwell, passed away on July 10, 2005 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dewey Caldwell, and his mother and father. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathie; son, Charles (Vickie) Caldwell; daughters, Caitlin (Mark) Wernke, Lisa (Peter) Clugston and Celia Caldwell and husband Bob Ledbetter; step-daughters, Jennifer (John) HasBrouck, Meghan (Phil) Brandt; brother, Roger (Lee) Caldwell; sister, JoAnne Fram; sister-in-law, Geraldine Caldwell; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Brianna and Victoria Caldwell; Kevin, Matthew and Jonathan Wernke; Erika and Mason Clugston; Jarod HasBrouck; and Catrina, AJ, Max and Tommy Brandt. Ron began his life-long love of skiing at Wolf Creek Pass in the mid 1930s, continuing skiing for the next 68 years. In 1946, he enlisted as an Apprentice Seaman under the Naval Aviation College Program at the University of California - Berkley. He entered the Naval Air Training Command in 1948 and received his wings in November 1949. He joined Fighter Squadron 31 as a "Flying Midshipmen" in December 1949 and was commissioned in March 1950. Capt. Caldwell served as a flight instructor from 1953 to 1956. He participated in Korean combat missions aboard the USS LEYTE. During Vietnam, he served as Air Group 15 Operations Officer following that he assumed command of Attack Squadron 163 known as "The Saints." He completed more than 100 missions as squadron Commanding Officer. His effective command leadership is well documented. He survived a tragic fire on board the USS Oriskany on October 26, 1966. He served on the staff of the Commander Pacific Fleet. While in this role he participated in the reception for our returning POWs from Vietnam. His next command was that of VA-125 (1969-70) the replacement airgroup training squadron at NAS Lemoore, California. For his service in Korea and Vietnam, Capt. Caldwell was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Gold Star, Meritorious Service Medal, (11) Air Medals, (4) Navy Commendation Medals with Combat Distinguishing Devices, (3) Navy Unit Commendations, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross), and the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars. He assumed command of the Naval Weapons Evaluation Facility here at Kirtland AFB in 1974. During this time, he was introduced to hot-air ballooning by two of his junior officers. In 1975, he lobbied the Navy to establish the Navy Hot-Air Balloon Team as a recruiting tool. In 1976, he began his dual command of the Navy Hot-Air Balloon Team, an all-volunteer program. This led Capt. Caldwell into the ballooning community of Albuquerque. In 1980, he was Balloonmeister of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. He then served on the AIBF Board of Directors from 1980-2001. After retiring from the Navy in 1977, Capt. Caldwell returned to school to receive his Master's Degree from UNM. He went to work for Los Alamos Technical Associates as an engineer and corporate security officer, retiring again in 1996. Capt. Caldwell was a life member of Flying Midshipmen Assoc., Tailhook Assoc., Assoc. of Naval Aviation. He was also a member of Navy League, and the Albq. Aerostat Ascension Assoc. of NM. He was a 30 year member of Church of the Good Shepherd, UCC. Ron will be remembered as a great Naval Aviator patriot, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who loved to share his stories of skiing, fishing, ballooning, and the Navy with all who showed an inkling of interest in any of his loves. That crooked smile and twinkle in his eye will never be forgotten. The Caldwell family wishes to thank their friends and the caring staff at Carestone at Quintessence for all the love and support they have given these past months. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd, UCC, 7834 Tennyson NE, on Sunday, July 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., with full military honors. CORDOVA -- Elvira Trujillo Cordova passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her home, after a year long battle with cancer. She was born on August 27, 1911 in Watrous, NM to Gabriel and Emilia Trujillo. She spent her childhood in Watrous and Dawson, NM. In 1928, she married Margarito Cordova in Dawson, where Margarito worked in the coal mines. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1944 and settled in the North Valley. Elvira was very involved in Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Community, she was employed in the office and later volunteered for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Margarito; children, Antonio, Susan, Charlie and Gil; her parents; six brothers: and two sisters. Elvira is survived by her sons, Margarito (Richard) and wife, Stella, Manuel (Ted), Vivian and wife, Anna, and Michael; daughters, Celeste Medina and husband, Dave, Bernadette Cordova-Silva, Lorraine Cordova-Carriaga and husband, Adan; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ignacita Casias; and numerous nephews and nieces. Rosary will be recited on Friday, 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. Mass will be celebrated by Father Luis Jaramillo on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. GARCIA -- Rafael (Ralph) Garcia, age 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, and a former resident of Clayton, NM, passed away on July 12, 2005. Mr. Garcia was born September 28, 1909 in Trinidad, CO. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas F. Garcia; parents, Cipriano and Ruperta (Lopez) Garcia; sister, Maria Valdez; brothers, Cipriano, Juan, Monico, Felix, Felix P., and J. Frank Garcia. Rafael is survived by his wife of 72 years, Eva Marie (Elkins) Garcia; daughters, Louise Vigil and husband Dick of Albuquerque, Ruby Valdez and husband John of San Bruno, CA; sons, Bobby J. Garcia and wife Belinda of Albuquerque, Michael F. Garcia and wife Tommie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Linda M. Gonzales and husband David, Larry A. Pena and wife Carole, Michael F. HENSHAW -- Dixie Margaret Henshaw, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, died on July 13, 2005. She is survived by her sons, Charles K. Henshaw and Cary R. Henshaw and wife Sally of Albuquerque; daughter, Judy M. Turner of St. Louis, MO; granddaughters, Mindy Lee Patton of Ventura, CA, Shawn Margaret Buttry of St. Louis, MO, and Caryn E. Henshaw of Albuquerque, NM; and great-granddaughters, Sierra A. Patton and Shania J. Patton, both of Ventura, CA, and Audrey M. Carter and Tia C. Buttry, both of St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Henshaw served her country during WWII in the Army Air Corps as a Flight Nurse. She was with the 403rd Troop Carrier Group, 801st Air Evacuation Squadron which was the first unit of Flight Nurses in South and Southwest Pacific Combat Zones. Action stations included Guadalcanal, New Hebrides, Bougainville, and New Caledonia. She retired from the VA Hospital after 30 years of service. MADRID -- Blasita (Sally) Madrid, 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 10, 2005 at her home. She devoted her entire life caring for her family and unselfishly helping others by sharing all she had with those in need. Mrs. Madrid was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Madrid; her sons, Ignacio Jr., Edmund and Paul. She is survived by her sons, Charlie, Sam and Ralph; her daughters, Maxine, Sandra, Juanita and Bernadette; and 15 grandchildren. Honoring her wishes, Mrs. Madrid will have a Rosary at St. Anne's Church 1400 Arenal Rd. SW 90 Friday, July 15, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. and a Mass on Saturday July 16, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. A gathering after her mass will be held to celebrate her life and her legacy. MARTINEZ -- David J. ( Mocho ) Martinez, 45, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 12, 2005 with his loving family by his side. David is survived by his four sisters, Ramona Lopez and husband, Nemecio, Loretta Gallegos and husband, Leonard, Gloria Flores and Henry Hernandez, Natalie Sena and husband, Eddy; four brothers, Rudy Martinez and wife, Vicky, Mike Roybal and wife, Mary, Danny Roybal and wife, Catalina, Tony Martinez and wife, Ellie of Houston, Texas; a special nephew, Daniel Martinez; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Natividad and Lorina Martinez and a brother in law, David Flores. David was a member of the Catholic Church, he was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, 1977 and was employed at Halbert Custom Cabinets. A visitation for David will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Eileen Montoya. A final visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father James Vance. MCCAUSLAND -- MATTHEW ANGUS MCCAUSLAND, 37, beloved son of Dana McCausland and Edward (Buddy) McCausland, passed away at his home in Auburn, WA, on July 1, 2005. Matthew is now and forevermore resting in peace. He is survived by his mom, Dana; his dad, Buddy and stepmother, Jeanie McCausland of Albuquerque, NM; his loving brother and best friend, Damon McCausland and wife Deidre of Fort Collins, CO; his grandparents, Claude and Kay McCausland, of Carlsbad, NM, and Mae G. Collie of Shreveport, LA. He also is survived by a large extended family of relatives and friends who will dearly miss him. His grandparents, William R. and Gwendolyn Dickson and Robert J. Collie in whose care he now rests, preceded Matthew. He was born in Laredo, TX, on November 4, 1967. Matthew grew up in Albuquerque and attended Sandia High School before enlisting in the US Army. He later earned an Associate's Degree in Aviation Maintence Technology at ENMU, Roswell, NM. Matthew was a genius inventor with several patents to his name, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and former US Army and civilian helicopter mechanic in New Mexico, Hawaii and Washington. His wide-ranging interests took him from the skies to the ocean. He began flying at a very young age, was a scuba diver, sailor, and designer of modified high-performance muscle cars. His loves beyond family and friends were his work, his inventions, his restored '69 Firebird, and his dog Kodiak. Cremation has taken place. Private burial is pending at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, and will be held at a later date. In honor of Matthew's memory, the Matthew A. McCausland Award for Young Inventors Memorial Fund has been established through the Colorado State University Little Shop of Physics youth education program to encourage youth development. MONTOYA -- Delcida "Delcie" Montoya, age 78, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Thursday, July 14, 2005. Delcie was a resident of Cuba, NM; and member of the Catholic Church. She loved having her family around her; and enjoyed embroidering. Delcie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Manuel Montoya; her children, Adela Lucero and husband Arthur, Manuel Montoya and wife Christine, Frances Jacquez and husband Danny, Connie Shapiro and husband Philip, Sylvia Delph and husband Charles, Stephanie Phipps and fiance Mark; 16 grandchildren, Tony, Chris, Robert, Steven, Matthew, Renee, Chantel, Danielle, Tim, Cathy, Adam, Alex, Charles Jr., Gabril, Aaron, and Nicholas; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Michael, and Kyle. Also surviving are three brothers, Leandro Padilla and wife Rebecca, Esequiel Padilla and wife Agnes, Carlos Padilla and wife Mary; three sisters, Rose Lucero, Nancy Herrera and husband Don, Lena Lucero; numerous nieces, nephews, other beloved family members and friends. Delcie will be greatly missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. MOORE -- Kenneth Alfred Moore, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 11, 2005. He was born on October 12, 1945 in San Fernando, California. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1954 where they build their first home. He attended Valley High School where he was a member of the F.F.A. He rode bulls in his younger years and was also a Veteran. His love of horses led him to a career as a horse race trailer. He loved all aspects of horse racing and spent many years in that profession. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oda and Elva Lou Moore and a younger brother, Oda Lee Moore. He is survived by his two children, daughter, Kristi Baca and husband, Manuel; son, Kenneth W. Moore; five grandchildren, Dasha, Shay Lynn, Matthew, Manuel Jr., and Sydnie; one sister, Phenia Reynolds; one brother, William Moore; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A Memorial Service and reception will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose building at St. Therese Church, 300 Mildred NW (2 blocks S of Candelaria).

MOSES -- Olive Plunkett Moses ended her journey on earth on Wednesday, July 13, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald B. Moses; her daughter, Joanne Moses Bagley and her husband, Jim Bagley; her four grandsons, Donald Waskow and wife, Christy, of Albuquerque, William Waskow and wife, Julie, of Arizona, Justin Bagley of Albuquerque, and Jeremiah Bagley of Telluride, CO. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Moses Waskow and her son, Horace J. Moses. She found delight in her four great-granddaughters, Jade Meredith Waskow of Albuquerque, and Allie and Kiran of Glendale, AZ. Her family includes her brother-in-law, Tom Moses (Kay) and nieces and nephews and their families; Thomas Moses of Anchorage, Margaret Moses Branch, Karen Moses Oltmans, Elsie Moses Hoeg, all of Albuquerque, Frank B. Mapel of San Marino, CA, Donald Mapel of Durango, and Linda Mapel MacCannell of Calgary/Durango and son-in-law, John Waskow of Albuquerque. Having been born in Vermont in 1916, she lived in Albuquerque for nearly 70 years after coming here to teach. She immediately loved the Southwest and the booming town she came to sight-unseen. She was a world traveler and loved all gatherings, where her chili dishes were highly prized by family and her many friends. Services will be Monday, July 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Cathedral at 318 Silver SW. PATTERSON -- Gayle Dianne (Warner) Patterson, 49, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 because of complications due to multiple sclerosis. Gayle was born on November 8, 1955 and moved with her family to Albuquerque at the age of 3. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, George B. Patterson Jr.; sons, Jacob Patterson and Rosie Martinez and their children, Makayla and Shania and Daniel Patterson of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Charlotte Patterson and Kevin Dinerstein and their children, Shane and Chole and Stephanie Patterson; parents, Harold and Shirley Warner of Sandia Park; brother, Terry Warner and wife, Neatice; nephews, Jason and Philip of the Dallas, TX area; brother, David and his wife, Carol who live in Louisville, KY; brother,Glenn and wife, Mona and their children, Catherine, James, and Valerie who live in Houston, TX; father-in-law, George B. RALSTON -- RICHARD. Mr. Richard "Dick" Ralston, age 66 of Bernalillo, died unexpectantly Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at his home. He was born September 26, 1938 in Bernalillo, NM to Ford and Bernie Ralston. He is survived by his wife, Averye; his daughters, Sherry and Jerry Harris, CeCe Tipton and Melissa "Shorty" Ralston; grandchildren, Kody, Shayne and Jordan; step-son, Heath Law and his daughter, Cheyanne; three step-children and their families; two sisters, Barbara and husband Tony, Aguilar, Sandi and husband, Sam Houston; one brother, Cecil and wife, Jodi Ralston; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was a good hearted cowboy that worked hard and played hard. He cared deeply for his friends and was always there to lend a helping hand. According to his wishes, cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in Bernalillo at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bernalillo Ward, 325 Avenida de Bernalillo. RODWAY -- William J., 83, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 12, 2005 and is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Irene; three sons, Bill, Robert, and David; one granddaughter, Indira; and a community full of loving friends. Dad was a decorated WWII Navy veteran who saw enemy action at Omaha Beach in 1945 as a Pharmacist's Mate First Class. He was an accomplished bowler with either hand, and an avid golfer who had the pleasure of a hole-in-one at age 79. William was a devoted member of his church, and in honor of his wishes he will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held at the East Gate Four Square Church at 12120 Copper NE on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Dad truly was an all-American father, and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. ROMERO -- Joe E. Romero went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2005 at the age of 56. He was born on April 16, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM. Joe was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and worked for PNM for 24 years. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Romero; daughters, Sally Vasquez and husband Brian and Cecilia Chavez and husband Daniel; brothers, Louie Romero and wife Linda, Ron Romero and wife Jacqueline and Ronnie Romero and wife Anna; sister, Rose Sanchez; and his grandchildren, Mercedez, Brianna, Joe, Marissa, Andres and Santiago. He will be missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. SANCHEZ -- Mark Anthony "Marcos" Sanchez left this world on July 11, 2005 to join his beloved mother, Mary Ann Sanchez in God's Kingdom. He is survived by his sisters, Cathy (Bunny) Sensi and husband, John, Geri Silva, and Anna Marie Anglada and husband, Richard; brothers, Ken Sanchez and wife, Monique, and Matthew Sanchez and wife, Doreen; his fiance and best friend, Heather Bogle; father, Ray Sanchez; aunt Peggy Duran; nieces and nephews, Anthony, Christopher, and Tommy Montoya, Aaron, Jennifer and Adam Silva, Damian and Tanisha Medina, Joshua and Andrew Sanchez, and Phillip and Matthew Sanchez; nine great-nieces and -nephews; several cousins; and many friends. Marcos was a well known drummer and played in bands in Colorado and New Mexico. Marcos loved to travel and visited England, Italy, Spain, Belgium, China, Australia and coast to coast in this country. Marcos graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Liberal Arts. He worked for Southwest Airlines as a Bi-lingual reservation agent and belonged to the Bi-lingual Club. Marcos was proud of the closeness shared by his family and the lessons his Mom taught. Marcos will be missed by all of his friends, in and out of the music business. We love you Marcos. WADDLES -- LENA SARAH BANKS. Mrs. Lena Sarah Banks Waddles came into this world on April 27, 1925 in Okarche, OK. She was the sixth child of nine born to Israel and Bertha (Fraizer) Chiles. She was the last of nine sisters and brothers, the last of that generation. Sarah graduated from Topeka High School in 1944, and started college, but was unable to finish. She was also a "Rosie the Riveter" from 1944-45 for Boeing Aircrafts during World War II. She retired from Jordan's Bouquet after 27 years, also helping her husband in his business at the same time. She always taught us if you want something, do not be afraid of a little work. You can have anything you want, as she did. She was a very fashion minded person and won many beauty and best dressed contests. In the spring of 1957, Lena (Sarah), and sister, Christine, and a little baby (Scrappy) were going through Albuquerque on their way to Arizona. Their car broke down and she decided to stay. Sarah joined and became an active member of Phillips Chapel CME Church in 1960, where she was involved in the Women's Ministry, the Usher Board, and the Stewardess Board. Sarah became very active in her community, sending her to the many organizations that she belonged. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star Mt. Everest Chapter #3 where she was Past Matron. Luxor Court #188 Daughter of Isis, she was Past Commandress Deputy of the Desert of New Mexico. Order of the Golden Circle San Hedrin Assembly #69, she held the office of Past State Loyal Lady Ruler. She was a member of the Mahalla Jackson Temple #1259 as Deputy Daughter Ruler. In addition, she was a Turtle. She took great pride in the things she did and was willing to work hard. Sarah will be missed by her husband of 43 years, Jessie Waddles; daughters and nieces and nephew, Jeannie Williams of Sacramento, CA, Rufina Williams of Albuquerque, Patricia Lynn Taylor and husband, Richard of Arieta, CA, Karen Perry of Pasadena, CA, and Alexander Perry Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; stepchildren, James and Layana of Larkspur, CO, Gloria Waddles-Perry, Diana Waddles, Cheryl Owens, Donald Waddles all of Denver, CO; daughter, Sarah L. Bank, niece Mamie Perry, stepsons Jessie Jr. and Barry Waddles precede her in death. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 20 step grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and 39 step grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She also had many "Children of Heart" people that also had the opportunity to cross her path and was proud to call her MOM.
