Obituary for ATTERBOM

Hemming A. Atterbom Ph.D., 66, professor of exercise physiology at UNM, and a 30+ year resident of Albuquerque, recently of Valdosta, GA, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005 in a Jacksonville, FL hospital after losing a brief and fierce battle against cancer. His wife and the youngest two of his six children were at his side when he took his last breath. He left us fully aware that he was about to take a long walk with our Lord Jesus Christ, and was at peace with that knowledge. Hemming leaves behind a wife, Gerd Atterbom; an ex-wife, Mary I. Neel; six children: Kim Bloomer and husband Donnie, Paula Whittlesey, Jimmy Watson, Jerry Watson, Hemming E. Atterbom Jr. and wife Bridget Atterbom, and Per-Hjalmar Atterbom with partner Melanie Farmer. Hemming had seven grandchildren: Sonia Whittlesey, Tawnee Watson, Chase Watson, Kaden Watson, Hannah Lamure-Dalton, Skyler Atterbom, and Sabrina Atterbom. Also left behind are three siblings of Sweden: Torsten Atterbom, Per-Lennart Atterbom, and Gabrielle Atterbom-Olmarker. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (Lomas at Tennessee ) on Friday, July 15, 2005, at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.
