MATTHEW ANGUS MCCAUSLAND, 37, beloved son of Dana McCausland and Edward (Buddy) McCausland, passed away at his home in Auburn, WA, on July 1, 2005. Matthew is now and forevermore resting in peace. He is survived by his mom, Dana; his dad, Buddy and stepmother, Jeanie McCausland of Albuquerque, NM; his loving brother and best friend, Damon McCausland and wife Deidre of Fort Collins, CO; his grandparents, Claude and Kay McCausland, of Carlsbad, NM, and Mae G. Collie of Shreveport, LA. He also is survived by a large extended family of relatives and friends who will dearly miss him. His grandparents, William R. and Gwendolyn Dickson and Robert J. Collie in whose care he now rests, preceded Matthew. He was born in Laredo, TX, on November 4, 1967. Matthew grew up in Albuquerque and attended Sandia High School before enlisting in the US Army. He later earned an Associate's Degree in Aviation Maintence Technology at ENMU, Roswell, NM. Matthew was a genius inventor with several patents to his name, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and former US Army and civilian helicopter mechanic in New Mexico, Hawaii and Washington. His wide-ranging interests took him from the skies to the ocean. He began flying at a very young age, was a scuba diver, sailor, and designer of modified high-performance muscle cars. His loves beyond family and friends were his work, his inventions, his restored '69 Firebird, and his dog Kodiak. Cremation has taken place. Private burial is pending at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, and will be held at a later date. In honor of Matthew's memory, the Matthew A. McCausland Award for Young Inventors Memorial Fund has been established through the Colorado State University Little Shop of Physics youth education program to encourage youth development. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Matthew A. McCausland Memorial Fund at either the Carlsbad National Bank, Account No. 726770, P.O. Box 1359, Carlsbad, NM 88220; or directly to the CSU Foundation (LSOP-Matthew A.
