Anspach -- Paul Parker Anspach Jr., 78, a resident of Tucson, Arizona, passed away June 21. He was born to Paul Parker Anspach Sr. and Sylvia Anspach, June 17, 1921 in Dayton, Ohio and raised in China and Korea before the Japanese occupation period. After they and other Lutheran missionaries were expelled, he entered the military and served from 1942-1946 as an intelligence officer and translator for the US Navy. Following War II, he attended seminary at Wittenberg College, and was ordained a Lutheran Minister in 1950. In June of the same year, he married Miriam Ann Lauver in Springfield, Ohio. The couple traveled immediately to Japan, where Reverend Anspach served as a missionary in Kyoto, Nishinomiya, and Isahaya for the next 17 years. During their stay in Kyoto, the Anspachs were blessed with four children, Deborah Ann, Jennifer Lynn, Joel Eric, and Jonathan Paul. Reverend Anspach and his family returned to the United States in August of 1967, when he was called to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Los Alamos, NM. He served as Bethlehem's Pastor until 1982. when he returned to Japan to teach English and history at Baiko Women's College in Shimonoseki. He retired in Tucson in 1989, where he had been an active member of the Dove of Peace Lutheran Church (Tucson church). He is survived by daughters, Deborah Anspach and husband, John Hanson of Billings, MT and Jennifer Gillaspie and husband, Barry Gillaspie of Tucson, AZ; sons, Joel Anspach and wife, Leesa Lederer of Albuquerque and Jonathan Anspach and wife, Denise Anspach of Albuquerque; grandsons, Josh Anspach-Hanson and Eric Anspach-Hanson of Billings, and Ian Anspach Gillaspie of Tucson. Surviving siblings include Carolyn Anspach Sunburn, Phyllis Anspach Thompson, Sarah Anspach Kepple and Thomas E. Anspach. He is also survived by the many families and friends whose lives were both touched and changed through his ministry on two continents. Memorial services will be held at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church on June 24, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 2501 E. Baca -- Caroline Baca passed away to be with the Lord on June 22, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Eloisa Lovato. Caroline is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Chavez; two brothers, Albert Gurule and wife, Jenie of Albuquerque, Frank Gurule of Minco, OK; five sisters, Sister Rosalie of San Antonio, TX, Tillie De Herrera of Albuquerque, Lola Flores of Gallup, Emma Rodriguez and husband, Eddie of Gallup, Nellie Salas and husband, Toby of Albuquerque, Annie Lovato and husband, Ray of La Jara, NM. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held today, 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Alameda. A Rosary will be recited today, 7:00 p.m., at the Santo Nino Catholic Church in La Jara, NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, also at the Santo Nino Catholic Church, in La Jara, at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Santo Nino Cemetery. Baca -- Deacon Marcus D. Baca, 85, passed away at his home in Albuquerque on June 21, 1999. Mr. Baca was born in the South Valley and second oldest of the Baca family. He influenced the family with his creativity that led to the creation of Bueno Foods. He was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior and was ordained with the first class of Deacons in Denver, CO in 1974. In Denver, he served as a Deacon at St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's Parishes, and also at the Diocesan level in the office of Hispanic Ministries. When Mr. Baca and his wife, Victoria, moved to Green Valley, AZ, he served the people there by helping them establish the Parish of San Martin de Porras in Sahuarito, AZ. Mr. Baca returned to Albuquerque four years ago. Also, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. He retired from the Regional Postal Service in Denver. Mr. Baca is survived by his wife of 63 years, Victoria Baca; children, Imelda Martinez and husband, Vivian of Denver, CO, Leonard Baca and wife, Eleanor of Denver, CO, and Mary Lou Jaramillo and husband, Placido of Dallas, TX; three sisters, six brothers; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m., this evening, at Church of the Risen Savior, with his brother, Rev. Paul Baca as Celebrant. Interment will take place at 9:00 a.m., Friday, in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul at Church of the Risen Savior. Baca -- Manuel O. Baca, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, and formerly of Belen, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 1999. He was a member of the Christian Church. Manuel was a very talented and well known New Mexico drummer, playing in California, and at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Belen High School, attended the University of New Mexico Valencia Campus, and graduated from UNM in Albuquerque with a Masters degree in Sociology. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Librada Baca; one brother, Ralph; and one nephew, Antonio. Manuel is survived by four brothers, Silvester and his wife, Gloria of Albuquerque, Louis J. and his wife, Tillie of Albuquerque, Johnny and his wife, Lupe of Albuquerque, and Ruben and his wife, Carol of Anaheim, CA; four sisters, Mona Flores of Modesto, CA, Toni Bustamante of Albuquerque, Connie Jaynes of Belen, and Lupe Hooker of Modesto, CA; and a very special friend, Richard Gurule of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Friday, 1:00 p.m., at the Life Giving Ministries, 702 Dallas Ave., in Belen. Cappello -- Deziray Daniella Cappello, infant daughter of Veronica F. Gutierrez and Daniel V. Cappello, of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999."We have said hello and goodbye to our sweet little angel, Deziray. We held you in our arms for only a moment, but you will live in our hearts and memory forever and ever. You were named Deziray for you were our hearts' desire. Precious little daughter, wait for us in heaven. Your light shone suddenly in our life...like a spark or a shooting star...but it is a light that will never go out; you are a light that will shine for eternity, a light never fading, but shining on in the lives of the people whom you have touched." Clifton -- Cora E. Clifton, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 21, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Woodrow D. Clifton of Albuquerque; daughter, Marjorie O'Connell of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Sharla Balestri of Albuquerque and Joseph Balestri of Rio Rancho; sister, Carrie Clifton of Clovis, NM; and many other family and friends. She was a talented artist and seamstress. Cora was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. French -- Marjorie Cole Young French, age 91, an Albuquerque resident since 1951, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston William (Ted) French in 1964; and her brother, Robert Young. She is survived by her son, Winston William French and wife, Linda Ashling; daughter, Marjorie McGarrah and husband, Charles; two grandsons, Charles McGarrah Jr. and wife, Debbie, Jonathon William McGarrah and wife, Stephanie; three great-grandchildren, Shane, Logan, Katrina McGarrah; sisters, Josephine Hartwell of Port Jervis, NY, Eleanor Byrne of Aiken, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She loved her chose career of nursing. She was the head nurse at St. Joseph Hospital for many years and a Public Health Nurse in Silver City. She was an avid bridge player. She will be missed. Gibson -- Lugarda Madrid Gibson went to be with the Lord on June 19, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Desiderio and Feliz Madrid. Lugarda is survived by one daughter, Loretta Aguirre and husband, Jonathan; two granddaughters, Kathleen Feliz Steven-Aguirre, Bernadette M. Aguierre; one brother, Luis Madrid; also many nephews and nieces. Lugarda was a director of the New Mexico Human Resource Services for 25 years, she was also the proprietor of Casa Feliz in Taos and Old Town. She was a member of the Lady of the Altar. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Handy -- Nathaniel A. Handy passed away Sunday evening, 6/20/99, in his home in Paradise Hills. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, Alex of San Diego, CA, his son, Stuart of Santa Barbara, CA; and his brother, Peter of Woodside, CA. He was born in Needham, Massachusetts, 12/30/46, of Violet Pilkington Handy and Nathaniel A. Handy, DMD. His father was among the first African Americans to graduate from Harvard Medical School in the 1930s. Nat's wife, Elaine will continue to run WordCenter, Inc., a word processing, desktop publishing and medical transcription service, which they founded together in 1981. Nat served eight years on the Board of the Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, and was the first man to be President of the Board. He served two terms on the Board of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Albuquerque, four years on the Board of Hospice/Home Care, three years on the State Transportation Committee, and four years on the Board of Explora Science Center and Children's Museum. He coached two women's soccer teams, one of them for over 13 years. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Nat's life and contribution to our community on Thursday evening 6/24/99 at 5:30 p.m. at Paradise Hills Park (5801 Paradise Blvd. NW). It will be an informal occasion and anyone who wishes will be able to share how Nat touched their lives. Harrison -- Richard E. Harrison, born November 13, 1962, passed away on Friday, June 18, 1999. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryle L. Harrison and his three wonderful children, Jeremy J. Harrison, Stephen R. Harrison and Crystal L. Harrison, all of the family home. Richard also leaves his parents, Donald and Mary Anne Harrison; brothers, Jim and Gene Harrison; sister, Terri Finlayson; parents-in-law, Joe and Betty Harper; brothers-in-law, Joe and Jim Harper and Joe Lucero; and sister-in-law, Debbie Lucero. Richard also leaves ten nieces and nephews who loved him, his extended family of aunts and uncles, Grandma Davis, and all of his friends and co-workers who will miss him. Richard will be sorely and deeply missed by the children, parents and staff of Creative Kids Learning Center, where he was involved operating the center with his wife, Cheryle. Richard had recently been employed with Greenhouse and Garden Supply Company. Richard shared a love of bowling, golfing and wrestling with his children constantly. He was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. Richard also shared with his family the love of ballooning and participated in chasing for many, many years. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., this morning, at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Jerome Sandoval officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Johnson -- Esther B. Johnson, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for ten years, died Sunday, June 20, 1999. She is survived by her son, Gordon V. Madore -- Judith Ann Madore (nee Fenner), beloved wife of Michael G. Madore, died in St. Petersburg, Russia on 30 May 1999. Judith and Michael became residents of Albuquerque in September 1995. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael Lance Madore of Post Falls, Idaho and his wife, Gina; her son, Douglas Fenner Madore of Wooster, Ohio and his wife, Pamela; grandchildren, Amber Madore of Columbia, MD; Jessica Madore and Christine Madore of Post Falls, ID; Brittnay Madore and Andrew Madore of Wooster, OH; her sister, Lois Linebaugh and brother-in-law, Edward Linebaugh of Melbourne, FL; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends living in Albuquerque and elsewhere throughout the world. Judith was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on 6 August 1940. She and Michael were married in Simmershausen, West Germany on 9 December 1965. Judith died suddenly during the first day of a two week boat tour of the area of northwest Russia between St. Petersburg and Moscow. A Catholic Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wooster, Ohio on 11 June 1999. Her ashes will be interred with those of her father, James Otis Fenner, and mother, Donna Ruth (Whidden) Fenner, in their vault in Mims, Florida."

Martin -- Alice McNulty Martin, 78, a resident of New Mexico since 1946, died peacefully in the Hospice Unit of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital, Sunday, June 20, 1999. The only wife of George E. Martin of El Rito, she is survived by their five children, Margaret Martin, Roberta Martin, George E. Martin and his wife, Joan Day-Martin, Annette Martin-Hill McCue, her husband, David McCue and Raymond A. Martin; grandchildren, Heather Hill, Jennifer and Matthew McCue, Christopher Day-Martin and Sarah Rae Martin; great-granddaughter, Kya Garduno; her twin sister, Margaret W. McNulty of Albuquerque; sisters, Eileen Dana of Long Island and Kathleen Hogerton and husband, Jack of Long Island; sisters-in-law, Dottie (Mrs. Alfred P.) McNulty of Cleveland, Roberta Martin Brosseau and husband, Ed of Santa Fe, and JoAnn Martin of El Rito; brother-in-law, John A. Martin and wife, Barbara of Santa Fe; special friends, Jack and Florence Kennedy; and many other family and friends. Alice retired from Bernalillo County in 1982 where she worked first in the Treasurer's office and then in the Finance office. She worked very actively with the Suicide and Crisis Prevention Center as a volunteer. She was named to Who's Who of American Women 1981-82 and Who's Who in the West 1982-83. She was active in the Republican Party for many years. She also worked many elections as a poll worker. During her life she was also active in real estate and the insurance business. During WWII she served in the WAAC from Nov. 1942 to Sept. 1943; the WAC from Sept. 1943 to her discharge as a First Lieutenant in May of 1946. Alice's family wishes to express their appreciation to her health care providers, Janet L. Blanchard, MD, and her staff, Holly S. Lehman, DC, and her associates and staff of Lehman Chiropractic Center, Tzenwaxolokuahtli, head of the Medicine Council of the Tetzkatlipoka Tradition of the Aztec's of Mexico, and his fellow healer Kanek; John Saiki, MD, and the entire staff of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice, the staff of Presbyterian Home Care, and the caregivers from Eldercare of NM. Masters -- Richard Masters, 63, beloved husband and father of Albuquerque and Waukesha, Wisconsin, died at home on Thursday, June 17, 1999. Mccarthy -- Marie Adams McCarthy, 99, passed away at her home on June 21 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. McCarthy; and her daughter, Mabel Marie Newton. She was a 5th generation New Mexican. The McCarthy's moved from Magdalena, NM to Albuquerque in 1921. She leaves two daughters, Ethel A. McLeod, married to Don McLeod of Lubbock, TX and Florence M. Rehm of Albuquerque; two brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie is remembered for her many hobbies, including gardening, crocheting, embroidery, brewing beer, making ravioli, fishing, and betting on horse races. Powell -- Lt. Col. Thomas H. Powell U.S.A.F. Ret, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Monday, June 21, 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Rita Ward of Ft. Tietjen -- Wesley Alma Tietjen, 83, a resident of Belen, passed away in Raton, NM on Wednesday, June 23, 1999. He was born in Bluewater, NM on May 7, 1916. He was a lifetime rancher and horseman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Etta Tietjen; daughters, Jenny Lou Tietjen, Lavern Carver and Alma Louise Alexander; his father and mother, Alma Tietjen and Clarinda Roundy; sister, Elva Lee; and his brother, Bert Roundy. Wesley is survived by two sons, Ted and his wife, Dianne and Ned and his wife, Janet; one daughter, Bobby Jo Randles and her husband, Monte; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; two sons-in-law, Dale Carver and Clay Alexander; four sisters, Valma Hakes, Rinda Bell, Floss Chapman and Retha Wengert; and one sister-in-law, Jean Roundy.
