Obituary for Baca

Manuel O. Baca, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, and formerly of Belen, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 1999. He was a member of the Christian Church. Manuel was a very talented and well known New Mexico drummer, playing in California, and at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Belen High School, attended the University of New Mexico Valencia Campus, and graduated from UNM in Albuquerque with a Masters degree in Sociology. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Librada Baca; one brother, Ralph; and one nephew, Antonio. Manuel is survived by four brothers, Silvester and his wife, Gloria of Albuquerque, Louis J. and his wife, Tillie of Albuquerque, Johnny and his wife, Lupe of Albuquerque, and Ruben and his wife, Carol of Anaheim, CA; four sisters, Mona Flores of Modesto, CA, Toni Bustamante of Albuquerque, Connie Jaynes of Belen, and Lupe Hooker of Modesto, CA; and a very special friend, Richard Gurule of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Friday, 1:00 p.m., at the Life Giving Ministries, 702 Dallas Ave., in Belen.
