Marie Adams McCarthy, 99, passed away at her home on June 21 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. McCarthy; and her daughter, Mabel Marie Newton. She was a 5th generation New Mexican. The McCarthy's moved from Magdalena, NM to Albuquerque in 1921. She leaves two daughters, Ethel A. McLeod, married to Don McLeod of Lubbock, TX and Florence M. Rehm of Albuquerque; two brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie is remembered for her many hobbies, including gardening, crocheting, embroidery, brewing beer, making ravioli, fishing, and betting on horse races. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sandia Hospice, 4775 Indian School NE 87110. Graveside services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
