Obituary for Baca

Deacon Marcus D. Baca, 85, passed away at his home in Albuquerque on June 21, 1999. Mr. Baca was born in the South Valley and second oldest of the Baca family. He influenced the family with his creativity that led to the creation of Bueno Foods. He was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior and was ordained with the first class of Deacons in Denver, CO in 1974. In Denver, he served as a Deacon at St. Anthony's and St. Patrick's Parishes, and also at the Diocesan level in the office of Hispanic Ministries. When Mr. Baca and his wife, Victoria, moved to Green Valley, AZ, he served the people there by helping them establish the Parish of San Martin de Porras in Sahuarito, AZ. Mr. Baca returned to Albuquerque four years ago. Also, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. He retired from the Regional Postal Service in Denver. Mr. Baca is survived by his wife of 63 years, Victoria Baca; children, Imelda Martinez and husband, Vivian of Denver, CO, Leonard Baca and wife, Eleanor of Denver, CO, and Mary Lou Jaramillo and husband, Placido of Dallas, TX; three sisters, six brothers; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m., this evening, at Church of the Risen Savior, with his brother, Rev. Paul Baca as Celebrant. Interment will take place at 9:00 a.m., Friday, in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul at Church of the Risen Savior.
