ARCHULETA -- Felicia Marie Archuleta, beloved daughter, mother, and sister peacefully passed away on February 6, 2008 after a courageous battle against esophageal cancer. Felicia was a resident of Albuquerque for seven years. She was born in Espanola, NM on October 26, 1969 and raised in Pojoaque, NM. Felicia is survived by her three loving sons, Edward D. Sanchez II (21), Miguel L. Sanchez (18) and Julian C. Sanchez (13); daughters, she always dreamed of having, Mariaya J. Crawford and Kelley A. Smith; her beloved parents, Luis N. Archuleta and Regina G. Archuleta; brothers and sisters, Monica Valdez, Rosabelle Valdez, Margie Moore, Tim Archuleta, Marcos Archuleta, Regina Garcia, Jessica Archuleta, and Ramon Archuleta; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Felicia was a courageous, brave, independent woman who lived every second of her life providing for and loving her three handsome sons. Felicia was very proud of her work with the State of NM where she made precious friendships and a difference in many lives. She had a close and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ whom she now joins at home in heaven. In lieu of sending flowers, her family has opened a donation account in the name of Felicia M. BAZAN -- Helen Selner Bazan, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1959, died Friday, January 25, 2008 after a brief illness. She is survived by her children, Louise Bazan Persson of San Jose, CA, and Arthur Bazan of Albuquerque, and grandchildren Celeste Bazan of Los Angeles, CA, and Jon Persson of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by her three sisters, Marion Charlier of Kewaunee, WI, Betty Lejois, of Green Bay, WI, and Edie Ament of Homosassa, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Isauro Bazan, and son, Dennis Anthony. Helen was born in Kewaunee, WI, in 1920, and graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1938. She attended the University of Wisconsin before moving to Washington, DC, where she was employed by the Bureau of Engraving. Helen and Isauro were married in Washington, DC, in 1943, and lived in the Washington, DC area until 1959, when the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. A Rosary was celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. DESJARDINS -- Dennis "DEZZ" DesJardins CMSGT RET. Passed away January 28, 2008. Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin February 2, 1943. Enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961, serving 28 years, stateside and over seas. He was awarded the "Legion of Merit" along with other prized decorations and acquired countless friends during his period of service. Dezz moved to Albuquerque after retirement from the USAF. In Albuquerque he worked as the GM for a contracting agency until April 2006. Dezz was a very proud member of the Rio Grande Corvette Club and Oldsmobile club. He was also very proud of his involvement in the Make a Wish Foundation here in Albuquerque. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Anja; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ryan; and three granddaughters: Leah, Kylie and Terra; and by two brothers: Gary and Bernie, and one sister Mary. DZWONKOWSKI -- Lawrence Nickolas of Albuquerque, NM passed into the loving arms of Jesus on February 6, 2008. He was born on July 4, 1929 at Steven Point, WI. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helene Dzwonkowski and his children, Helen and Les Lorcher, Susan and Robert McMaster, Karl and Pam Neugebauer, Robert and Debbie Neugebauer. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a veteran of WW2. He and his wife did voluntary work with Native Americans at Thoreau, NM for several years. Peter was highly respected and admired as a member of the Lovelace Medical Group for over 15 years. He loved his family, his pets, and felt a very special connection to nature and his home. FLEISCHMANN -- Hedwig "Hedy" Rosa Fleischmann, died peacefully at home on Friday, February 1, 2008 after seven years of slowly declining health. She was born in Freienwil, Switzerland on November 4, 1915, the sixth of ten children of Verena and August Burger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her son, Michael; and by several brothers and sisters. She left Switzerland as a young woman, eager to expand her horizons. Beginning as an au pair, she met Lawrence while working as a waitress in a Swiss restaurant in Los Angeles. They married and had four children, each born in a different state. She raised her family largely in Los Angeles where she had many friends and was active in her church. Though she never again worked outside the home, she was the loving CEO and nerve center of the family, coordinating and planning for them all, even after they grew up, married, and had children and careers. She moved to New Mexico in 1999, to be closer to the family who dearly loved and admired her. She had a delightful manner and accepted her increasing limitations with dignity and charm. She leaves behind her three daughters: Linda Pack and husband, Andre, Susan Fleischmann, and Heidi Fleischmann and husband, Jim Scott; grandchildren Holly Radke, Ryan Pack, and Brendon Pack; and great-granddaughter, Reya. Two living sisters, Elsy Burger and Lydia Benz, and numerous nieces and nephews in Switzerland will also miss her dearly. She had wonderful and devoted caregivers and nurses for the past seven years. The family wishes to thank Leticia Breceda, Belle Nelson, Carol Caples, Maria Acosta, Emma Ruiz, and Ana Maria Mora who tenderly cared for her until the end of her life. Other caregivers who helped her over the past years include Flora Gomez, Ida Perez, and Jack Whitt. The family also expresses its deep gratitude to her hospice nurse Leann Vincent. Hedy will be cremated and her remains buried in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery with Lawrence and Michael. Our beloved mother, nani, sister, auntie and friend, Dora was a loving person who spent a lifetime caring for others as a surgical and delivery nurse as well as performing volunteer work at her beloved North Valley Senior Center, where she lived for the themed dances. GOTT -- Terrence "Terry" E. Gott, age 53, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Friday February 8, 2008 at a local hospital following a lengthy and gallant battle with cancer. He was born July 4, 1954 in Excelsior Springs, MO. to Robert and Jill Gott. Mr. Gott was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a retired supervisor with LOF Glass in Sherman, TX. Following his retirement he began training race horses. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Jill Shiver and her husband William "Crone"; his sister, Niki Hawver of Dunwoody, GA; his brothers, Robert M. Gott of Albuquerque and Mark B. Gott of Veguita, NM. As well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Robert E. Gott, his grandparents and his special niece, Jackie Kelly. HAGGARD -- Hildamae "Hildie" Haggard passed on peacefully Tuesday, February 5, 2008, in Albuquerque. She is the daughter of Ralph Roy and Lena Adelle Roszell, born September 16, 1922 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She graduated from Beatrice High School. She attended Doane College and graduated with a nursing degree. There she met the love of her life, Roderick Keith "Rod" Widney, Sr. On September 12, 1944, they married and had three children. She stayed at home to raise her family, until the untimely death of Rod. Hildie later married Jerry Haggard and together traveled to many countries around the world until his untimely death. She loved gardening, cooking, family gatherings, and "Bridge Club." She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. Hildie loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and making special memories with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was a very generous, caring, and loving individual to all those she came in contact with. She is survived by her children, Rick Widney Jr., Jeff Widney and wife, Juli, and Amy Bradley and husband, David; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn E. HAUQUITZ -- Clarence C. Hauquitz of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 after a short illness. He was born in Helena, MT on March 26, 1919. Clarence is survived by his wife, Rachel of 67 years; daughter, Rachel Howden of San Diego; brothers, Fred Hauquitz of Southampton, New York; George Hauquitz and wife, Jo of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Art Thornton of Green Valley AZ; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hauber and husband, Grant of Salmon ID; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clarence enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and begins flight training at Luke Air Base in Arizona. He was commissioned 2nd Lt in May 1942. He was assigned to South Carolina where he completed flight training in the "famous" B-25 medium attack bomber. He flew 49 missions with the 57th Bomb Wing against German and Italian Targets from Naples to Po River out of Corsica Italy until May of 1945. He was discharged as Captain in July of 1945. After discharge he started a career as a jeweler in 1946 and worked for Foggs Jewelry Co. before starting his own company Hauquitz Custom Jewelry in 1962. Clarence retired from his jewelry activities in 2002. Clarence was very active in the Ballut Abyad Shrine. He was a member of Temple Lodge 6, AF&AM, York Rite Bodies of Albuquerque, Scottish Rite Bodies in Santa Fe, Past Potentate of Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, member of the Cabri, and Past Director of Royal Order of Jesters Court 24. He enjoyed his involvement in the Shrine Patrol activities and his fellowship with its members. He was very proud to serve as Captain of the Patrol and of the efforts Shrine's gave for the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. He was a caring and compassionate man and will be greatly missed. HUNT -- Billy D. Hunt, 80, passed away on February 5, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM where he had lived since 1963. He was born on July 22, 1927 in South Bend, TX to Robert E. Lee and Kathryn Elizabeth Hunt. He worked for Geophysical Service Inc. upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma in the Class of 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology. While working in Artesia, NM he meet Nellie Lee Lewis and they were married on January 3, 1953 in Roswell, NM. Bill and Nell traveled throughout the western states and to Peru and Brazil in their early years of marriage until they moved to Albuquerque. Upon moving to Albuquerque he worked in the flooring and lighting business and then opened his own business, The House of Light, in Rio Rancho in 1972. Bill always had a love for skeet shooting. He spent almost every weekend at the Sandia Skeet Club where he taught his son, daughter and later his grandchildren how to shoot. He was always well known for his patience while teaching newcomers the art of skeet shooting. After retiring Bill purchased a motorhome and would travel to many shooting competitions throughout the United States. His wife Nellie preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by his son, John Robert Hunt and Karen McKinley; his daughter, Kathryn Elaine Guffey and husband, Bruce; his grandchildren, Justin Robert Hunt, Jennifer Renee (Hunt) Merrill and husband, Greg, and Jason Randall Hunt; great-grandson, Ethan Cole Merrill; and sister-in-law, Thelma J. Lewis. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living and Montebello that cared for Bill in his final years. Reid graduated from high school in Saguache, Colorado, was a Signalman in the U.S. Navy in World War II serving in the Pacific, and graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado with a degree in accounting. He married Carolyn Davison on June 14, 1949 in Alamosa, Colorado and they have been married 58 years. Reid was in the mining industry in Telluride and Bonanza, CO and later worked in the wholesale lumber industry in Colorado and New Mexico. He has been a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years and was a loving husband and father, kind and gentle to the end. MICHAEL -- JENNIE MERHEGE Our mother, a sweet angel, left this earth on Ash Wednesday, February 6, 2008. She was born on January 19, 1924, in Santa Fe, NM. As a youngster her family moved to San Juan Pueblo and then to Fairview, NM, where she spent most of her growing up years. She graduated high school from Loretto Academy and worked at various jobs before marrying Arthur Joseph Michael, Sr. of Albuquerque. She bore three children, Arthur Joseph Michael, Jr., Charles James Michael, and Barbara Ann Michael. Arthur and Jennie moved to Santa Fe in 1954. Jennie's last job was as secretary at Alvord Elementary. She loved the staff and students at Alvord Elementary and they loved her. She was known lovingly and respectfully as "Jennie" by staff a students alike. Jennie loved the simple things and the beauty in life. She had a kind heart, a good sense of humor, and much compassion for those in need, gladly giving a helping hand or lending a confidential ear. She lifted the spirits of those who saw her on any particular day with a smile that glowed and warmed people's hearts. She genuinely loved people and encouraged them to pursue their passions and dreams. Many sought and felt comforted by her presence. For many years Jennie lived in the shadow of a neurological disease. She carried on courageously, with dignity, and with kindness, never losing her radiant smile or her sweet and positive nature. Those who knew her during that time will never forget her. Even in the midst of a terrible disease she shared her love, her heart, and her true self with those around her. Jennie loved all of her family and they loved her. She is survived by her children, Arthur Joseph Michael, Jr. and Barbara Ann Michael; her sisters, Jessie Fidel (who was Jennie's guardian angel on earth throughout her life), Mary (James) Million, Helen (Gene) Finch; and her brother, Joseph Merhege; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Family members who predeceased her include her husband, Arthur Joseph Michael, Sr., with whom she will rest at the Rosario Cemetery; her son, Charles James Michael; her parents, Latify and Fidel Merhege; her sisters, Afife Zaunon and Orelia Jabbour; her brothers, John Merhege, James Merhege, Fidel Merhege, Jr., and Michael Merhege. Jennie's beautiful spirit attracted many other beautiful spirits to serve on her caretaking team throughout her illness. These people loved Jennie as if she were a member of their own immediate family and advocated strongly for her needs. They were loyal, diligent, outstanding in skill, and never faltered in providing her with the best care that anyone could receive. The family will eternally grateful to Eloise Garduno, massage therapist, who provided incredible and comforting massages for eight and one-half years; Naomi Roy, personal care provider, who never said no to any request involving Jennie's care, was readily available to assist the family with all emergencies, and who has an unmatched quiet strength of character that comforted Jennie every day; Nellie Nunez, who luckily became a member of Jennie's team three years ago and who brought with her specialized knowledge in the care of the elderly and terminally ill and a smile and positive attitude that matched Jennie's; Jason Schilening, Clear Training Systems, (personal trainer) and Jeff Nailen, Renaissance Personal Fitness (personal trainer), both of whom constantly sought and learned a variety of techniques to work with Jennie as her condition changed throughout time and both of whom are consummate professionals. Finally, the family thanks the professionals at Odyssey Healthcare and Lee Levin, M.D., all of whom worked together to allow Jennie to remain at home until she died, which was one of her three wishes A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008, 2 to 5 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel. MONTOYA -- Theresa Montoya, 64, of Alameda was called home to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Theresa is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joe Montoya. MULHERN -- Jean (Bacigalupo) of Hopkins, MN, formerly of Albuquerque. Born 1924 in St. Paul MN to immigrant parents, Felice and Luigia Terrile Bacigalupo, she excelled in academics at College of St. Catherine (BA, magna cum laude, 1946) and University of New Mexico (MS, 1975). Jean was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John, who shared her love for learning, the Church and the Southwest. Jean first came to Albuquerque in 1945, on a summer break from college. She and John married in 1948, and raised seven children while he worked for the FBI in New York, Albuquerque and St. Paul. They retired to New Mexico in 1970, where John practiced law. Together they were active at Our Lady of Fatima, and were also members of the Irish-American Society and the Club Culturale Italiano. She loved to garden and cultivated roses and perennials wherever she lived. Jean stayed intellectually active throughout her life, taking classes in Italian, Gaelic, and German, pursuing studies in literature, theology, and art, and developing her talent for drawing. She traveled several times to Italy and Ireland, where she forged connections with her cousins and those of her Irish-American husband. In 1998 after John's death, she returned to Minnesota to be with her family. Jean is survived by her oldest sister, Evelyn, 98, and by her children, Brian (David Wood) of Minneapolis MN, Mary Jean Mulherin of Edina MN, Terence (Linda) of Minnetonka MN, John (Rebecca Schatz) of Lauderdale MN, Ann (Brian) Shields of Bloomington MN, Patricia (Tim) McClanahan of Vancouver WA, and Tom (Kim Erwin) of Evanston IL. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Jahan, Dan, Andy, Peter, John Paul, Tony, Mollie, Sarah, Maggie, Jonathan, Jeb, Katie, Hannah, Karl, Josiah, Joey and Dakota; and six great-grandchildren, Marisa, Hunter, Alex, Anastasia, Elizabeth and Micah. REED -- Jack W. Reed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Jack W. Reed at First Congregational Church UCC, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE, on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Lee Albertson officiating. Jack, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at the age of 84 on Friday, November 30, 2007, after a brief but feisty bout with lung cancer. Jack was born in Corning, Iowa on September 24, 1923. In 1932 he moved with his mother, Vera Gibson, and step-father, Charles Reed, to Santa Fe, where Charles was State Highway Engineer. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1940. Jack was drafted into the US Army at the onset of World War II, serving as an early weather specialist in the Air Corps in the Philippines. In September 1944, Jack married Lois Linville of Chicago, Illinois. When he was discharged from the Army in 1947, they settled in Albuquerque, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from the University of New Mexico. They had two children, Roger and Margaret. Jack became a meteorologist at Sandia National Laboratory, forecasting the fallout and shock patterns of atmospheric nuclear tests, working for the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and advocating the development of wind energy, for 46 years. After his retirement, he founded JWR, Inc., offering expertise as a certified consulting meteorologist to clients worldwide. Jack also served as a Reserve Officer in the New Mexico Air National Guard, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. In his later years, Jack was one of the much-loved "Weather Wizards" for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Jack was a longtime member of First Congregational Church. Jack loved to travel around the globe and across the nation. Preceded in death by his mother, step-father, and son, Roger, Jack is survived by his wife, Lois Reed; daughter, Margaret "Marti" Reed, both residents of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Terra Lillie Reed, a University of Oregon student currently attending the University of Lyon in France. ROMERO -- Ignacio J. Romero, age 87, Santa Fe, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 7, 2008. He was born on July 31, 1920 in Colonias, NM, to Tomas S. Romero and Benedita Martinez. Ignacio married Eliza Hoehne, of Colonias, in 1945, but they were residents of Santa Fe since 1948, and both heavily involved in volunteer work with their church and other community organizations. Ignacio and Eliza were blessed with six children. Eliza preceded him in death this last year. Ignacio and Eliza were among the first families founding St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, where he was a charter member of the Holy Name Society. He was a leader in the St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 40 years, and involved with the Union Protectiva and the American Legion. In 1995 Ignacio was awarded the Jefferson Award for excellence in community service. In 2002, Eliza and Ignacio were honored with the Archbishop's first St. Francis of Assisi Award; later, by St. John's, for fifty years of volunteer work. Many knew Ignacio as "I.J." the barber, a profession he practiced for over 40 years. He was most recognized for his work in the community, helping people individually or through the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In many ways he was a humble man's philanthropist, never turning down a request for help. Ignacio is survived by his only brother, Jose Luis Romero (Rosemary); his children: Tomas Romero (Luba), Patricia Lopez (Antonio), Roberta Miller (Floyd), Wilfred Romero, and Richard Romero; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and innumerable relatives and friends. A viewing will be held Sunday, February 10, 3-6 p.m., at McGee Memorial Chapel. A Visitation will be held Monday, February 11, 6 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. John's. Naomi D. Stickler was born on August 30, 1923 in DeNoya, OK to the late Herbert Floyd and Ala Jane Smith. She grew up in Panhandle, Texas and graduated from Panhandle High School. She attended Draughn's Business School in Amarillo, Texas. Naomi worked at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California during WWII. Naomi was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, but she has been living in Canyon the past few years. She loved life and people. She was a good friend to all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker; before her illness she was active in her church, Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, and a member of ALAnon for over 27 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Naomi married Paul A. Stickler on December 31, 1969. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and two brothers, Choc and Ed Smith. TERRAZAS -- Mary Ann, age 67, born October 9, 1940 died after a courageous struggle with cancer on February 1, 2008. Mary Ann was born in Sumter, SC - the only child of Henry Allen Jayroe and Mabel Lyles Jayroe. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Mark Anthony Terrazas. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Frank; their daughter, Teresa; and her son-in-law, Philip Gallegos. She is also survived by her sisters, Brenda Gilpin and husband Terry, Susie Jayroe Timmons and her husband Glen; and brother Allen Jayroe. Mary Ann was the loving sister-in-law to her extended family in Chihuahua, Mexico, including Alicia Hernandez and husband Ramon, Zulema Terrazas Ruiz and husband Eloy, Teresa Terrazas Zapata and husband Edilberto, and Jesus Terrazas and wife Carmela; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary Ann spent her life selflessly caring for her severely handicapped son, Mark. Mary Ann's life was difficult and her sacrifices were many as she fought for the better quality of life not only for her son, but all developmentally disabled individuals seeking a better quality of life. She was a devoted wife and mother who inspired courage, unconditional love, and determination in all whose lives she touched. Mary Ann will continue to be loved and missed by all the lives she has touched in this world. TORRES -- Oralia M. Torres "Lollie" was born November 7, 1946. An angel returned to Heaven when Oralia "Lollie" Torres passed away the evening of Sunday, February 3, 2008. A compassionate wife and amazing mother, Lollie touched the heart of every person she met. ZAMORA -- Eleno "Leonard" M. Zamora Jr., born September 17,1925 was called to be with our Heavenly Father on January 13, 2008. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Mary "Stella" Chavez. Leonard is survived by his three brothers, Lee (Stella), Billy (Candy) and Robert (Donna); his five children, Don Zamora, Lorraine Milligan, Valerie Silva, Rhonda Yrene, Len Zamora; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Leonard also leaves behind many dear relatives and a lifetime of friends. Leonard served in the United States Coast Guard and Navy during WWII and Korean War. "Toastie" went onto a 32 year career with the Albuquerque Fire Department. Leonard was an avid golfer and devoted family man who also loved to sing. ZIMMERMAN -- Mary Teresa Fallon Zimmerman, 79, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008. She was born on September 5, 1928, to Mercer and Florence Fallon in Denver, CO. Her family moved to Albuquerque when she was three. Upon high school graduation, Mary spent twenty years of her life dedicated to helping people. She earned a PhD in English Literature and was a well-loved teacher for many years in CO and Illinois. She moved back to Albuquerque and became a family counselor for Sandia National Labs. In 1979 Mary met Milton Zimmerman. They were married on January 19, 1985, and spent 23 happy years together traveling the country in retirement. Along with her husband, Milt, Mary received two stepdaughters in the deal. She loved them as her own and was a gentle mentor to them. She is survived by her husband, Milton, daughters Heidi and Rayne and beloved grandchildren Powell, Forest, Jade and Makani. Mary will be remembered for her tolerance and capacity to love others. ZUGGER -- Margaret Mary Zugger passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008, after an 11 year battle with cancer. Margaret married Henry Zugger in 1949. She is survived by her husband, Henry of Buffalo, NY; son, Father Christopher Zugger of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church since 1985; daughters, Elizabeth DiChristina and husband, Richard and Pamela Baia and husband, Ron; and granddaughters, Rebecca and Rene. Parastas will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 1837 Alvarado Dr. NE. A reception will follow at the parish hall.
