Atencio -- Tobias (Toby) Atencio, Jr., 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, joined his precious Lord, Jesus, and his beloved wife, Cora, Tuesday, February 18, 2003. He is survived by four children, Jeanne Mondragon and husband, Joe, of Silver City, NM, Kathy Atencio, Toby Ray Atencio, Richard Atencio and wife, Emma, all of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Joshua Mondragon of Albuquerque, Janiah Shields and husband, Oren, and Jacob Mondragon of Silver City, NM, Zach Atencio, Luis Atencio, Brandy Atencio, Jennifer Atencio, Taylor Atencio, and Quentin Atencio all of Albuquerque; one brother, Alfonso Atencio and wife, Emma; and one sister, Celina Carrillo of Velarde, NM, numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Toby was born in Velarde, NM and served in the Air Force. He retired from the Air National Guard, 250th Tactical Fighter Wing, nicknamed the"Enchilada Air Force" at KAFBin 1988 with the rank of MSgt. He was an airplane mechanic for many years then became a Logistician. He sidelined as a Realtor. Toby was an avid hunter and camper. He was a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church since 1953 where he served as an Elder and sang in the choir. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang solos at many weddings and funerals. Toby had many, many, friends and was well known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. Many people thought of him as their second father or grandfather. Toby had Parkinson's Disease for many years. He left this world on his own terms surrounded by his children, grandchildren, brother, sister, and some nieces and nephews at Lovelace Hospital. His spirit was set free of his body's ailments and he went into the light. Memorial Services will be held at Second Presbyterian Church 812 EdithNE, Tuesday February 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be atSunset Memorial Park, 924 MenaulNE, Tuesday February 25, 2003at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors. Baca -- Ms. Marcella Linda Baca, 22, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on February 21, 2003. Marcella is the beloved daughter to Mrs. Marcella E. Baca. Marcella is also survived by her two sisters, Lauriana Cugliani and husband, Anthony, Cecelia Miller and husband, Chris; two brothers, Reuben Baca and wife Renee, Charles Baca and wife Jennifer; grandmother, Vivian Baca; special care takers, Janet Glowka and Mary F. Chavez; nieces and nephews, Beau Salas, Janielle Baca, Justin Baca, David Michael Miller and Anthony Cugliani; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Berson -- Sylvia Berson, 97, a resident of Albuquerque for 10 years, died Saturday, February 22, 2003. She is survived by her son, Stanley"Steve" Berson and wife Tina; grandchildren, Paul Berson, Michael Berson, Elaine Hauff, Gloria Berson, Brian Berson, Eric Berson; and 9 great grandchildren. She resided at Sandia Manor Care and those who knew her would say she was"high spirited" even at the end. Shiva will be observed at the home of Steve and Tina Berson. Britt -- Bill E. Britt, age 68, a life long resident of Albuquerque died February 20, 2003. Survivors include his wife, of 51 years, Rose Marie of the family home; children, Cindy Phalen and husband, Micky, Lademma Nelson and husband, Greg, LaVon Britt, Shannon Minero and husband, Andrew, Randy Britt; sister, Charlotte Strain; brother, Jerry Britt; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild all of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sister, Barbara Daggett. Bill was a lifelong member of I.B.E.W 611; he loved horse races, fishing, golf, and gardening. He was an avid Lobos and Dallas Cowboy's fan, coached for the Central Valley Little League and was a Boy Scout Awards Officer. Fowler -- Dorothy L. Fowler, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on February 19, 2003. She was born on January 11, 1926 in Chicago, IL. Dorothy was extremely fond of playing bingo. She loved doing needlepoint and crafting. Dorothy was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gomez -- Mr. Albert Gomez, life long resident of New Mexico, is now in peace with his Lord Jesus. Mr. Gomez succombed to a long illness and passed away in his home with his loving wife of 56 years and his children at his side on Friday, February 21, 2003. Mr. Gomez was the son of Jose and Josefa Gomez and was born in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Mr. Gomez worked for the railroad prior to serving int he U. S Army in World War I I. After his return from the service Albert and Dora's lifes crossed again and he married his sweetheart Dora Gonzales of Bosque Farms. He retired from KAFB after 38 years as a civil servent in 1984. Mr. Gomez was a faithful member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, After services, Albert and Dora were frequently seen gliding across the dance floor at the North Valley Senior Center on a Sunday afternoon with their many friends. Mr. Gomez was a life time member of the American Legion Post #99. Mr. Gomez is the beloved husband of 56 years to Mrs. Dora Gomez. Mr. Gomez is also survived by one daughter, Albertina T. Gomez-Wilkinson and husband Bill H., one son, Kenneth Paul Gomez; grandson, William Albert Paul Wilkinson, two grand daughters, Michelle Renee and Monica Therese; Two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews. The remainder of Mr. Gomez's family and friends are too numerous to list, but his everlasting love, humor and wit will truly be missed by all. Mr. Gomez was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mr. Gomez a truly devoted, Loving husband and father never complained or made personal requests for himself and always put everyone else first. His Memory will be forever cherished in the hearts and minds of his family as well as all who knew him. The abundance of love and grace he has brought to his family will never be forgotten. The Absence of his presence leaves a deep void in our lifes. Madrid -- Robert L. Madrid Jr. (Porky), 36, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2003. He was born on March 14, 1966 in Albuquerque, NM. Martinez -- Clara Martinez, 87, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on February 21, 2003. She was born in Santa Rita, NM on November 26, 1915 to Pasqual Jimenez and Minnie Swartz. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Pasqual and Henry and sisters Virginia and Rosa. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Julio of Albuquerque; daughter, Lora Otero and husband David; sons, Robert Martinez and wife Karen, Louis Martinez and wife Melissa, and Marc Martinez and wife Janette, all of Albuquerque. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 16 great grand children, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include, Julian Jimenez and wife Ruth, Arturo Jimenez and wife Guera, Lucinda Garcia and husband Pete, Rita Holguin and husband Edward, Mary Miranda, and Sara Puentes and husband Sal (Chava). Clara was a devoted catholic and a member of the Blue Army. She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. Martiss -- Alice M. Martiss, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died on Saturday, February 22, 2003. She is survived by her son, John R. Martiss and wife, Julie Starks, of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Heather Martiss and grandson, James Martiss. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Martiss. Olmstead -- Geneva Marie Olmstead, longtime Albuquerque resident, died Thursday of a heart attack and complications of a lingering illness during an extended visit to Hawaii. She was 83. In addition to her loving roles of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was an extraordinary gardener, who showcased her tomatoes and roses, and a heartfelt poet. A member of the Montgomery Church of Christ for 32 years, she had been a dedicated Sunday School teacher during her younger years, especially in congregations in Dodge City, Kansas, and Guymon, Okla. Ms. Olmstead, who was born in McKey, Okla., April 22, 1919, lived in Oklahoma, Arizona and Kansas, before moving with her family to Albuquerque in 1971. She is survived by her daughters Donna Olmstead of Albuquerque and Joyce Finley of Waipahu, Hawaii. Also grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Rachel Jones, Greg Olmstead Jr., Shell Seaman, Shawn Cole, Stacy Cole and Taran Finley. She has eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Olmstead; her sons, Charles and Freddy Cole and Greg Olmstead Sr.; and her daughter Sandra Romo. Russell -- Martin N. Russell, 59, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died Saturday, February 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Russell; daughters, Cynthia Carter and husband, Paul of Antelope, CA, and Maresa Russell of Albuquerque; brother, Charles Russell and wife, Rita of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Jordan and Jeremiah Carter of Antelope, CA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved the speed of motorcycles, cars and boats. Martin retired from the Albuquerque Police Department in 1985 after 18 years of service. He was currently a driver of Yellow Freight Systems. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 492. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Sanchez -- Carmen D. Sanchez, 77, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mike F."Babe" Sanchez of Albuquerque; daughter, Kathy McLendon and husband Bill of Albuquerque; 3 stepsons, Bobby Sanchez and wife Francis of Corona, CA, Michael Sanchez and wife Pat of Las Vegas, NV, and Joe Sanchez and wife Pamela of Bernalillo, NM; one sister, Ana G. Ortiz of Albuquerque; aunt, Emma Garcia of La Luz, NM; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eligio and Eliza Garcia; brother, Leo"Junior" Garcia; and sister, Marie Garcia. Carmen attended St. Francis School and Loretto Academy in Santa Fe. She was employed at various state, county, and city offices. Segel -- Morris Segel, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died peacefully on February 22, 2003. He is survived by his sons Norman and Ronald; devoted daughters-in-law, Meryl Manning Segel and Pam Rhodes Segel; granddaughters, Alexis Segel and Tallie Segel; grandson, Neil Segel and dear friend Julia Palmer, all of Albuquerque; and by his sister, Betty Schpok of South Bend, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Irene Segel. He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and in high school worked at his father's service station. He served in active duty with the United States Army from 1941 to 1946, then retired from the U.S. Army Active Reserve in 1963 with the rank of Major. He moved with his bride to Albuquerque in 1946 and served as office manager and bookkeeper for Ravel Bros., a local"feed and seed" distributor. Until his retirement in 1983, he worked as an accountant at several local businesses, including Duke City Lumber Company, Gibson Lumber Company and APEX Trucking. After retirement, he performed volunteer work for many community organizations, including Mid-Rio Grande Chapter of the American Red Cross between 1984 and 1999. He loved to travel and sailed on numerous cruise ships to many parts of the world. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing football, basketball and baseball as a youngster in Akron, and even serving as the"mascot" for Akron's semi-professional football team. His interest in sports continued in later life, as a fan of the UNM Lobos and the Albuquerque Dukes. He also participated in the New Mexico Senior Olympics program, winning several medals in the basketball free-throw competition. In 2002, he was recognized as a 50-year member of Congregation Albert. A memorial service will be held at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana NE, at 3:00 p.m. on February 25, 2003, with Jacqueline Shuchat-Marx officiating. Sickenger -- Ruth Sickenger, 92, a resident of Albuquerque for 68 years, died Sunday, February 23, 2003. She is survived by her son, Rodney W. Sickenger and wife, Shirley; grandsons, Kenneth E. Sickenger and wife, Rebecca; Eric J. Sickenger; Douglas E. Sickenger and wife, Heather, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Andrea, Emily and Ryan. Mrs. Sickenger was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Sickenger. Ruth began her teaching career at the age of 19 in Southern Colorado and Northern NM, later in Vaughn and then in Albuquerque where she retired in 1974 from Griegos Elementary School after 31 years of service. Stephens -- Robert (Bob) Stephens went to be with his Lord on February 21, 2003. He was born on April 1, 1923, in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gerry Stephens; children, Robert Stephens and wife, Mary of Austin, TX, Karen and husband, Laurance Linford of Gallup, NM, Pamela and husband, Roy Johnson of Santa Fe, NM; his grandchildren, Scott Stephens, Greg Stephens, Justin Linford, Micah Linford, Bryce Johnson and Carley Johnson; his brothers, Glenn, Bill and Jack; and his sisters, Helen and June; and his faithful companion, Boots. Bill was born March 1, 1944 in Boston, MA, graduated from Valley High School in 1962, Colorado College in 1966 and served as an officer in the Navy in Vietnam. He taught in San Antonio, TX and at Sandia Prep, and served as a counselor for Presbyterian Hospice for 11 years. He was active in the equestrian community most of his life. He had a passion for country western music and was a member of the Bunkhouse Band. Bill touched many lives and will be sorely missed. Bill is survived by his wife, Cecilia Mares; sons, Ben, Tim and Mark of Albuquerque, Kurt of Cincinnati; parents, William K. Woodard and Jane Woodard; sister, Jane Riccobene; brothers, Steven and Reg; and his nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Road, NW on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at 4:00 p.m.

Woods -- Earl D."Woody" Woods, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Thursday, February 20, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Ella Woods of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Flynn of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Michelle M. Shook and husband, Kevin of Albuquerque; grandson, Michael S. Flynn of Fresno, CA; great-granddaughter, Kaelin M. Shook of Albuquerque; brothers, Benjamin F."Jr." Woods and Charles Woods, both of Oklahoma; sisters, Luella Curry, Opal Dedmon, Betty Reader, all of Oklahoma and Wanda Santana of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Woods was a devoted husband, loving father and"Bestest Papa" to Kaelin. He was an avid camper and a member of Siglo De Oro R.V. Club. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Chaplain Lemuel M. Boyles officiating. Yoder -- Dolores Yoder, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 21, 2003. She is survived by her son, A.J. Jackson and wife, Nancy; daughter, Susan Jeffries and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Sherman and wife, Annisa, Yvette, Yveonne, Veronica, Jeremy, Natasha and Harley; great-grandchildren, Cody, Justice, Cassandra and Jaren; brothers, Sam M. Gonzales and wife, Helen, Leo Ray Gonzales and wife, Lupe, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Lillie Barreras of Clayton, Anita Archuleta and husband, Manuel of Clayton, and Gina Escobedo and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alex Jackson Sr., her second husband, James M. Yoder and son Richard L. Jackson. Mrs. Yoder was a member of the V.F. W. Post 401and American Legion. She was also a member of the Elks Club and the DAV. Mrs. Yoder was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., February 25th at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., February 27th, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers are Sherman Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, John Jeffries, Melvin Barreras, Richard Archuleta and Eddie Guzman.
