Baca -- Anicetita Baca (Ann), age 86, a resident of Albuquerque died Friday, June 23, 2000. She was born November 11, 1913 in Veguita, NM. She is survived by her children, Boleslo Baca, Alice Baca, Lorencita Chavez, Gloria Baca, Rose Baca, and Phillip Baca. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Maria Chavez and Paul Chavez; and great-grandchild, Jahnesta Sunshine Killen; many nieces and nephews and her Kitty Kat. She was preceded by her husband, Cristobal V. Baca, her parents, Severo Carrillo and Lorencita Cordova Carrillo, her brother, Luis Carrillo, sister, Rebecca Cordova, sister, Bonifacia Barela, and son-in-law, Steve Chavez. Benton -- Felicia E. Tyler Benton, (1901-2000), a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away in her home Thursday, June 22, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Warren Benton, he was a former district manager with Equitable Life Assurance Company. Felicia was a member of Chapter V, P.E.O. and First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Marian J. Tonjes of Albuquerque and Carolyn B. Grant of Riverside, CA; five grandchildren, Jeff and Ken Tonjes, Alan and Doug Grant, Alison Grant-Carlos; and five great-grandchildren. Born in Cortland, NY, she resided after marriage in Upper Montclair, NJ and East Marion, Long Island, NY, before moving to Albuquerque. Private services were held in her garden with Rev. Bishop -- Harry L. Bishop, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1943, died Thursday, June 22, 2000. He is survived by his son, Kent L. Bishop of Albuquerque; his daughter, Donna Hawley and husband, Ron of Missouri; granddaughter, Alyssa Walker of Missouri; and sister, Margaret Smith of Pueblo, CO. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his wife, Mernice Bishop in 1991; and two sisters, Helen Bishop and Frances Eberly. He served as a Meteorologist in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Mr. Bishop retired as a biology teacher at Valley High School and was known as the teachers' teacher, having supervised 34 cadet teachers. He was a member of the American Legion for 50 years and was a member of the VFW. Mr. Bishop was also a member of the New Mexico Retired Teachers Association; the Albuquerque Retired Teachers Association; and the National Association of Biology Teachers Emeritus. Borell -- Marguerite Borell passed away June 17, 2000. Born September 8, 1904 in Encampment, Wyoming to William B. and Pearl G. Fry. She attended schools in Encampment and Laramie, Wyoming and graduated from West High School in Denver, Colorado. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and did her graduate work at Columbia University in New York City. In 1931, she moved to Albuquerque to teach at Albuquerque High School in the Commercial Department until 1935 when she married her first husband, M.R."Ike" Isaacson. She and Ike were active in local and state square dancing activities until his death in 1954. She taught at Highland High School from 1953 until 1957 when she returned to Denver to marry Adrey Borell. During their marriage they traveled extensively and were involved with studying animals and birds. Following Adrey's death in 1986, Marguerite moved from Golden to Lakewood, Colorado to reside at the Westland Meridian Retirement Community until she returned to Albuquerque in the Spring of 2000. She was a member of AAUW and The New Mexico Education Association. She is survived by her son, Dr. Lief Isaacson and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kale Isaacson and wife, Mary, Erik Isaacson of Albuquerque, and Kristen Gonzales and husband, Paul of Las Cruces; great-grandchildren, Mikhail and Brianna Isaacson, and Gavin Gonzales. She is also survived by a niece, Suzy Mihalopoulos; and nephew, Don Hutcheson. She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Hutcheson; and great-grandson, Zachary Isaacson.

Chavez -- Pete T. Chavez, 80, passed away June 18, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital. He was a native New Mexican and lived in Albuquerque. He is survived by his sisters, Irene Chavez-Ortiz, Irene Pimsler; nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him. Fackenthall -- Alice M. Fackenthall, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Saturday, June 17, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Col. Warren A. Fackenthall, U.S.A.F., Ret. of the family home; daughters, Rita Schnedar of Albuquerque and Georgia DeWitz and husband, Gary of Des Moines, WA; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fackenthall was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Forehand; and grandsons, Clifford Schnedar and Timothy Forehand. She was a member of the Catholic Church and worked with the Auxiliary of the Good Shepherd. Fikani -- One C. Fikani, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Thursday, June 22, 2000. She is survived by her son, Edward Fikani and wife, Ellen of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Fikani in 1969. Mrs. Fikani was born in the panhandle of Texas in 1913, and moved to Albuquerque in 1951. She worked as a seamstress out of her home. She was a beloved mother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Griego -- Max Griego, 65, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Rita Griego of the family home; four children, David Griego and wife, Annie, Michael Griego and wife, Frances, Steven Griego and Karen Griego, all of Albuquerque; mother, Aurora Griego of Tucmcari, NM; five sisters, Clara Griego, Flora Martinez, Anita Dominguez and husband, Ruben, Isabel Griego and Linda Peterson and husband, Ron; and looking forward to the birth of his 1st grandchild due in October. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Griego; and brother, Richard Griego. He was lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Griego was an Air Force Veteran and retired from the United States Public Health Department. He was a loving husband and devoted father. Herrmann -- A Memorial service was held Saturday, June 17 to celebrate the life of Walter Herrmann. He was born May 2, 1930 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and died June 4, 2000 while under Hospice care in Albuquerque. He was the only child born to Gottlob Fredrich Herrmann, hotel proprietor and Gertrud Louise Herrmann (nee Ratzlaff). Herrmann received both his undergraduate (1953) and Ph.D. (1955) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Witwatersrand University in South Africa, and completed post-doctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He taught Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town for two years until 1957, when Dr. Herrmann was invited to return to MIT to work as a researcher in the Cold War effort. In 1964, Dr. Herrmann moved to Albuquerque to work at Sandia National Laboratory, attaining the position of Director of Engineering Science. During his career he published about 200 technical papers and presented his research at symposiums around the world. He was inducted into the US National Academy of Engineering in 1993, and retired that same year. He married Betty Lorraine Allard in 1955 with whom he raised two children, a daughter, Inga and son, Peter before divorcing in 1983. In 1988, Dr. Herrmann married Ednarae Bligh Gross, who preceded him in death in 1996. During their short life together Walter and Ednarae traveled extensively, and took up SCUBA diving. Dr. Herrmann was an accomplished skier, mountaineer, and cyclist, and he enjoyed river rafting and SCUBA diving. He volunteered for many years with mountain rescue in New Mexico and in his retirement was an active volunteer for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, and served as a docent at archaeological sites in southern Colorado. He was a member of the Grey Wolves and the Prime Time Gang. Throughout his life, Dr. Herrmann was an avid traveler, and in his later years, he developed a passion for tall ships and sailing, and archaeology. Survivors include his children, Inga and Peter; step-sons, Allan and Jeffrey Gross, all of Albuquerque; a step-daughter, Janis Gross of Longmont, CO; grandchildren, Rishar, Mariah, and Joshua; and his former wife, Betty Lorraine Allard Herrmann of Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walter Herrmann Memorial Fund at the Rio Grande Zoological Park, 903 10th SW, Albuquerque 87102, funds raised will benefit future construction of the African exhibit.

Hickman -- Sue Hui Chung Hickman"So Un", 43, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982. She is survived by her husband, Paul Hickman of Albuquerque; daughter, Sheila Hickman of Albuquerque; sons, Christopher and David Hickman, both of Albuquerque; her mother, Yi Tae Pak of South Korea; one sister in Guam; three sisters in South Korea. Johnson -- Mark E. Johnson, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away June 22, 2000. Mark was born on June 21, 1948 to Bennie and Louise Smith Johnson in Charleston, WV. He was presently employed at St. Joseph's Hospital and was a member of the American Assoc. of Respiratory Therapists. Mark was a graduate of Nassau Community College and was a Cub Scout Den leader. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; three children, Timothy, Rachael, and Bryant; and his mother, Louise Johnson Kersten, all of Albuquerque. Mark is also survived by his sister,"Chickie" Johnson of Rio Rancho; brothers, Tom and wife, Carol of Albuquerque, Allen and wife, Carol of Rio Rancho, Paul Johnson and Christin of Rio Rancho; mother-in-law, Felicia Grey of Florida; brother-in-law, Chris and wife, Janine Grey of New York; sister-in-law, Doreen and husband, Wayne Bachelor of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Klingenberg -- John Arthur Klingenberg, 35, was greeted by a host of relatives and friends and wrapped in his heavenly Fathers arms on June 22, 2000 after a brave battle with cancer. John graduated as Salutatorian of Broadway Baptist High School and he was a graduate of Houston Baptist University. He recently moved to Forth Worth, Texas and was a former resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Houston, Texas. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. John was loved and respected for his life goal of glorifying his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of A Pi K Fraternity at HBU. He was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration. John was an avid sport participant and fan and coached many soccer and baseball teams for his four children. He attends Helen Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth, and is a member at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and had his former membership at Anderson Road Baptist Church of Houston, Texas. Kubiak -- Harvey D. Kubiak, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950 passed away Saturday, June 24, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kubiak, and is survived by his wife, Fran Kubiak. He is also survived by his four children, Philip Kubiak, John Kubiak, Kathryn Shulse, and Rosemary Fessinger and the spouses; step-children, Jon Tuthill Jr., Martha T. Cook and their families; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was a World War II Veteran and a long-standing member of Aquinas Newman Center. Molina -- Mrs. Griselda Z. Molina, 90, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 23, 2000. Mrs. Molina is survived by her daughter, Mabel Strong and husband, John; her son, Fred Molina; a granddaughter, Janell; great-grandchildren, Atrelle, Derek and Marky; numerous nieces, nephews, friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Molina, a son, Alfred and a granddaughter, Shelley. Mrs. Molina was a member of the Catholic Church. Newton -- Genevieve G. Newton, 94, died on June 23, 2000. She was born in Roswell, NM to Clarence and Augusta (Carillo) Goddard on January 17, 1906. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Newton, parents, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by one brother, Daniel and wife, Madeline of Denver, CO; and one sister, Jane Garcia and husband, Fabian of El Rito, NM. She is also survived by sons, George , Richard and wife, Sherry, and Timothy and wife, Gabriella; and by her daughter, Elizabeth Anekny and husband, Claude; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She attended New Mexico Highlands University and taught school for many years. Later, after her children were grown, she was a businesswoman; however, she continued to help many neighborhood children learn to read. She had a unique ability to teach children to read, many of whom has experienced reading difficulties in school This lifelong dedication to scholarship and reading was a joy to her. She also loved gardening and sewing. In addition the the immediate family, she leaves many nephews, nieces and friends, all of whom enjoyed her and whose lives were enriched by her friendship and love. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2000, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Olson -- Julia Marie Olson was born January 10, 1909 in St. Marys, Ohio, to August and Mary Mackenbach, the fourth of six children. Lillian Moul and Dr. Charles Mackenbach survive her. She graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and married Thomas Tschantz. Twelve years later, Tom passed away. Julia taught junior high social studies for the next 20 years while raising their daughter Susan. During that time she was tapped into Delta Kappa Gamma--a sorority for exceptional teachers. While visiting Sue in Santa Fe in 1965, she met Herbert Olson, they were happily married for 21 years during which they enjoyed extensive travel. Julia is survived by her daughter, Sue Satter of Albuquerque; Sue's children and their families, Tom and Gaylen Howard Satter and their daughter, Holly of Boulder, CO, John and Neva Satter and their sons, Levi and Christopher of Topock, AZ, and Karen and Roger Gose and their son, Matthew of Ft. Worth, TX. Also surviving are Herb's sons's family, Dale and Nancy Olson of Hayward, CA and their children, Janet Olson and husband, Ron Voss of Beaverton, OR, Jennifer and Kevin Cooper and sons, Timothy, Jeremy, and Jeffrey of Castro Valley, CA, and Kirsten and Jonathan Rosendall and children, Bruce, Jack and Megan of Castro Valley, CA. Julia had been a lifelong, faithful member of the Lutheran Church. She had been well-loved by her many nieces and nephews, and her myriad of friends over the past 91 years. She will be greatly missed by all. Julia Olson passed away on June 21, 2000 at Sunbridge Mission Manor Care Center where she had resided for the past 2 1/2 months. Parks -- Vernon Edgar Parks, 73, a resident of Albuquerque died Sunday, June 18, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Parks of Albuquerque; stepson, Charles A. Malm and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; step-grandchildren, Gavin, Carin and Preston; sisters, Lois Booth, Vivian Brogdon, Betty Ivy and Marvel Tittle all of Colorado; mother-in-law, Frances Bowles; and many other relatives and friends. Vernon served in the U.S. Navy and he retired from Fidelity Financial as a Senior Vice President. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Thompson -- Betty Anna Thompson, age 83, a resident for 75 years, died Thursday. She was born June 6, 1917 in Hartford City, Indiana to Harl and Mabel Thompson. She is survived by her brother, Ray A. Thompson and wife, Mildred of Wilmington, DE, and by their daughter, Trudie E. Thompson and husband, David M. Welch, presently of Canberra, Australia. She was preceded in death by her nephew, George Thompson. Miss Thompson was an accountant for Albuquerque Federal Savings and Loan for over 20 years, and continued to work independently as an accountant until age 80. Services will be conducted by Rev. Patricia E. Walker in the chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 26. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Thomte -- Luther J."Jimmy" Thomte, age 80, a resident since 1942, died Thursday. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Riehl Thomte; son, James C. Thomte and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jo Ann Thomte, Bobbie Bicknell and John Bicknell. Mr. Thomte was in the Land Title Business for over 40 years. A graduate of the University of Washington at Seattle, joined the Army Air Corp in 1942, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, with Pastor Larry A. Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Michael P. McMullan, William Bryce, Jay Hansen, Gordon Hermanson, Bobby Bicknell, and Randy Eakin serving as casket bearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE 87108 or St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Rd. NE 87102. Wallauer -- Mary R. Wallauer, 75, died on June 22, 2000 in Albuquerque. She joined the Women's Army Corps in 1943 where she met her husband of 54 years, Robert Wallauer. He preceded her in death in 1997. Mary was very active in local politics and the Democratic Party. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Montoya of Los Lunas; and grandsons, Brandon Montoya and wife, Angela of Mobile, AL and Ron Montoya of Rio Rancho. Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho of New Covenant Church officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Warren -- Gene E. Warren, 74, a resident of Belen for seven years, died Thursday, June 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughter, Mary Reich and her husband, James and their daughters, Natalie and Marilyn of Albuquerque; sister, Mary Weaver of Missouri and many nieces and nephews. Gene enjoyed a great game of poker with his friends and also fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his granddaughters. He did everything to the fullest.
