Obituary for Borell

Marguerite Borell passed away June 17, 2000. Born September 8, 1904 in Encampment, Wyoming to William B. and Pearl G. Fry. She attended schools in Encampment and Laramie, Wyoming and graduated from West High School in Denver, Colorado. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and did her graduate work at Columbia University in New York City. In 1931, she moved to Albuquerque to teach at Albuquerque High School in the Commercial Department until 1935 when she married her first husband, M.R."Ike" Isaacson. She and Ike were active in local and state square dancing activities until his death in 1954. She taught at Highland High School from 1953 until 1957 when she returned to Denver to marry Adrey Borell. During their marriage they traveled extensively and were involved with studying animals and birds. Following Adrey's death in 1986, Marguerite moved from Golden to Lakewood, Colorado to reside at the Westland Meridian Retirement Community until she returned to Albuquerque in the Spring of 2000. She was a member of AAUW and The New Mexico Education Association. She is survived by her son, Dr. Lief Isaacson and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kale Isaacson and wife, Mary, Erik Isaacson of Albuquerque, and Kristen Gonzales and husband, Paul of Las Cruces; great-grandchildren, Mikhail and Brianna Isaacson, and Gavin Gonzales. She is also survived by a niece, Suzy Mihalopoulos; and nephew, Don Hutcheson. She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Hutcheson; and great-grandson, Zachary Isaacson.
