Anaya -- Miguel (Mike) Anaya, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 28, 2000. He was an Army veteran of W.W. II. He is survived by his four sons Michael Anaya and wife Sheila of Albuquerque, Larry Anaya and wife Nedra of CA, Mark Anaya and Lawrence Anaya both of Albuquerque; five daughters Loretta Montoya and husband Sonny, Jean Armijo and husband Candido, Patsy Ortiz and husband Wilfred all of Albuquerque, Sylvia Messier and husband Larry of Bosque Farms, NM and Louisa Gallegos and husband Mike of Albuquerque; two sisters Osila Lucero and husband Juan and Trinnie Aragon and husband Abel; two brothers Hilario (Lalo) Duran and Higinio Duran; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family. Visitations will be today from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary located on Eighth and Iron; where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. tonight. Final viewing will be Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. also in the Chapel; where Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m., with Pastor Dan Sanchez officiating. Blanchard -- Sarah A. Blanchard, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 14 years died on May 27, 2000. She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and retired from John Hancock Insurance in 1983. Sarah was past president of Postal Supervisors Auxiliary, and a member of Four Hills Mobile Home Park Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, N.A.R.F.E. Chapter 1411, and A.A.R.P. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wilbur H. Blanchard; a daughter, Marlene Hansen, and husband, Dan of Reno, NV; and two grandchildren, Sara Hansen and Daniel Hansen. Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 1, 2000 at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Chavez -- Eloiza T. Chavez, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Savior on Saturday, May 27, 2000. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Mr. Frank A. Chavez; her 12 loving children, Leo, Frank Jr., Gene, James, Maria, Dale, Agnes, Juanita, Evelyn, Ana, Lisa and Regina. In addition to her immediate children and their respective spouses, Mrs. Chavez is survived by 40 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chavez was born in Chilili, NM on March 6, 1920; married to Frank A. Chavez on November 27, 1939; they celebrated their 60th Anniversary in 1999; Mrs. Chavez's love and passion in life were her children and extended family, as well as her devotion to the Lord. We will miss her greatly. Final viewing will be this morning at Garcia Mortuary from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Felipe de Neri Church. Daffer -- ¯Peter G. Daffer, 89, a resident of Albuquerque for 65 years, died at home on Monday, May 29, 2000, 37 days after the death of his beloved wife, Lee. He is survived by four children, Peter Z. Daffer and wife, Merete, of Perry, GA, twins, Jon Daffer and Joline Mahr and her husband, Ed, all of Albuquerque, and Stephanie Daffer and husband, Bob Michels, of San Francisco, CA; four granddaughters, Jonna Schuler of Houston, TX, Sonja Daffer and Amy and Kristin Mahr, all of Albuquerque; one brother, Oscar Daffer of Weiser, ID; and a sister, Marian Masilko of Lincoln, NE; and sister-in-law, Mary Armstrong and her husband, Glenn, of Albuquerque. One of 13 children, Pete grew up in Pleasant Dale, NE. He attended the University of Nebraska before joining the Army Corps of Engineers in Albuquerque in the mid 1930s. He met Lee soon after arriving in Albuquerque and they were married on Nov. 6, 1938. Pete and Lee lived in Magdalena, Farmington and Las Vegas, NM, before returning to Albuquerque in 1945. He then changed careers, becoming a self-employed retail liquor businessman. Since 1970, Pete had enjoyed a wonderful retirement, pursuing favorite hobbies such as gardening, working on household projects (he could fix anything), and doting on his granddaughters. An avid sports fan, he particularly enjoyed baseball (he had played semi-pro in his youth) and was ever loyal to the San Francisco Giants. He had a gregarious personality, a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. Pete was a gentleman and a gentle man. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will, indeed, be deeply missed. The family is immensely grateful to the dedicated team of caregivers who allowed Pete to remain at home. Special thanks go to caregivers Sonia Manning, Tommy Carrion and Kaylyn Sanmann; and to dear friends, Claire Cole and Delores Pederson. Garcia -- Miss Athena Jessica Garcia, 19, a loving mother, daughter and sister was called to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2000. Athena was attending T.V.I.; and was a resident of Los Lunas, NM. She is survived by her parents Michael and Darlene Rowe; a daughter Eden Garcia, her fiancee Brad Cromey; two sisters, Tamara Baros and Sarah Rowe; and one brother Lazarus Rowe. Garcia -- Ruben S. Garcia, 70, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died, Friday, May 26, 2000. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Clorinda A. Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Bernice Uszuko and husband, Patrick of Albuquerque; son, Richard L. Garcia and wife, Dawn of Vacaville, CA, son, Ken P. Garcia and wife, Cathy of Albuquerque; and daughter, Anna Marie Garcia and husband, Gerard of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kelly, Anthony, Guinevere, Melinda, Christopher, Melanie, Gerard II, Daniel, Jacquelyn and Desiree; brother, Santos Gonzales and wife, Leonides; sisters, Clorinda Perea and husband, Ben, and Priscilla Walker; and many other family and friends. Mr. Garcia served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Kirtland AFB in Supply, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the AMVETS, serving as District 6 Commander. He was also a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church, Spanish Choir and Knights of Columbus. He was also a defensive driving instructor for AARP. The family would like to thank Lovelace Hospice and Hospital Staff for their care and compassion. Lesperance -- Mr. Larry Lesperance died Sunday in Albuquerque at the age of 71. He was born and raised in New Mexico, a veteran of World War II and was employed at Sandia National Laboratories, retiring after 35 years of service. His joys in life were spending time with his family and hunting and fishing. He genuinely cared about the well-being of others and will be greatly missed. Mr. Lesperance is survived by his wife of 31 years, Florence H. Lesperance of the family home; sons, Larry J. Lesperance of Edgewood, Archie G. Archuleta and wife, Katie, and Kirk R. Archuleta and wife, Anna Marie; daughter, Doris E. Ortiz and husband, Bobby; brother, Frank Lesperance and wife, Celina; sisters, Pita Lucero and Anna Pacheco and husband, Lee, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anthony R. Trujillo and wife Bernadette, Jacob D. Prospect, IL, Louise Menk of Baudette, MN, and Mary Jerz and husband, Frank of Park Ridge, IL; two granddaughters, Anna Flora and husband, Rick of Belen, and Beatrice Damron and husband, Phillip of Farmington; and four great-grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Carpenter of Albuquerque and Montana and Lisa Damron of Farmington. Martinez -- Leonard M. Martinez Sr. 61, a resident of Albuquerque passed away. He is survived by his children Julie Baca, Leonard Martinez Jr., and Tim Martinez, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving his mother Preciliana Martinez, and three grandchildren; two brothers Ernest Sandoval, and Tony Sandoval, and two sisters Carolyn Hughes, and Rosabel Spader. Mr. Martinez was a bricklayer for 40 years, he loved horses, Fishing and his ponds. During his working career he helped to build Natural History Museum, and Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Ramirez was a member of the catholic church. A rosary will be recited wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Church with final visitation at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Tome Mayefske, Celebrant. Rudolph -- Edward W. Rudolph, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 27, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Rudolph, and Robert Rudolph and wife, Marjorie, all of Albuquerque; brother, Walter Rudolph of Florida; two grandsons, Benjamin and Robert Rudolph, both of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren, Robert, Emma, Sarah, and Danielle. Mr. Rudolph was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Charlotte Rudolph who died in 1995. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 401. Mr. Rudolph was a life member and past president of the German-American Club, and was charter member and past president of the Lions Club. He was a third-degree mason. Shaffer -- Edward D. Shaffer, born January 4, 1926, died of cancer on May 29, 2000. He passed peacefully at his home in Albuquerque. He was 74. Born in Albuquerque, Ed Shaffer was the oldest child of E.H. and Elizabeth Shaffer. E.H. Shaffer was the editor of the Albuquerque Tribune from 1927 and 1944. Ed attended Monte Vista Grade School the first year it opened; then Jefferson Junior High and Albuquerque High School. He served in the Navy in WWII, participating in the battle of Okinowa. After the war, Ed attended University of New Mexico on the GI Bill. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Edward Shaffer worked as a New York Life agent for 30 years. Ed's passion, however, was his Placitas fruit farm and vineyard. He moved to the Placitas farm in 1973 and enjoyed every aspect of farming. He loved few things better than working outdoors, getting his hands dirty, and sharing his love of life with those around him. He grew all kinds of crops and sometimes kept chickens, pigs, and bees, but he specialized in growing fruit. The grapes grown on his Tecolote Vineyard have been provided to local wineries for many years. In the mid 1970's Ed helped found the Albuquerque Growing Markets, an affiliation of local produce growers who gather together to sell their harvest directly to the public. Ed Shaffer will always be remembered. Every friend and relative of Ed's has a favorite"Ed Shaffer story". Ed will be remembered for his joyous sense of humor, for his feisty independent spirit, for his robust sense of adventure, and for his indomitable strength through adversity. Ed had a daughter, Diane Shaffer, with his first wife Dorothy. Diane died in 1998. She is missed. Ed's second wife, Margaret Buck, loved the Placitas farm just as Ed did. She grew up in Tajique Creek, NM and passed away in Placitas. She is missed. Ed married this third wife, Patricia in 1985. She too is a New Mexico native and loves farming and the outdoors. Pat was the perfect compliment to Ed; they were inseparable. When asked to describe his relationship with Pat, Ed simply said"soulmates". Ed is survived by his wife Patricia, of Albuquerque; by her children Connie Ryan and Barbara Rush; by Barbara's children Amanda and Jeremy; and Jeremy's wife Leah; as well, Ed is survived by his sister Stella Mary Jordan and husband Ray, of Portland, OR; his brother George R. Shaffer and wife Nancy of Albuquerque; by six nephews and nieces and their families. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 2, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, with Rev. Don Wilson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers. Toledo -- Tony Toledo, beloved son and brother went home to our Lord on May 27, 2000. Born on March 17, 1978, he is survived by his loving parents, Bobby and Olga Toledo; sisters, Andrea and Charity Toledo; grandmothers, Charlotte Herrera and Griselda Toledo; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all. Tony graduated from Hope Christian and was in his last year at UNM. He excelled in soccer, basketball, and baseball while attending Hope High. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Tony was employed as an intern at Sandia National Labs for the past 4 years and was a volunteer with the Bernalillo County Fire Department. Tony loved his family and friends but most of all he loved our Lord and Savior. Service will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna NE, with Pastor Skip Heitzig, officiating. Tripp -- Hulda Meredith Tripp, 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 27, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Butler; one grandson; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren of Rochester, NY; and one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren of Victoria, TX. Also a sister-in-law and caregiver, Ruth Bort of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Tripp I; and her son, Norman Tripp II. She was an active member of Zia Roamers, Chapter of Good Sam's Club from 1977-1999. Hulda served as State Secretary of Good Sam's Club from 1979-1984. She was a member of the Tumble Weeds, Albuquerque Chapter. Vaughn -- Mack B. Vaughn, born February 23, 1963 in San Diego, joined the angels on May 24, 2000. He was 37 years old. Mack was a person who was always there to help with anything at all. He would do things that most people would not do for each other. Many people loved him dearly. Mack will be missed more than he would have ever expected. He is survived by two sons, Clint and Cody; parents, Robert and Viola Vaughn of Moriarty, sisters, Brenda of Washington, Charlene of Santa Fe, and Cathy of Alabama, and Sherry Melchor, girlfriend of five years. Velasquez -- Armando Velasquez, 74, died on May 28, 2000 in Albuquerque. He was born in San Acacio, CO and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He attended Adams State College where he received a master's degree in Education. He moved to Albuqueruque in 1959 where he was employed at Albuquerque Public Schools until his retirement. He was Assistant Principal at Rio Grande, West Mesa, and Manzano. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Robbins in 1988 and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Velasquez; children, Edward Velasquez and wife Suzanne, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Alcario Velasquez and wife Pauline of Albuquerque, Alex Velasquez of Alamosa, CO, Damian Velasquez and wife JoAnn of Santa Fe, NM, Dan Velasquez and wife Grace of Taos, NM, and Anselmo Velasquez and Delfino Velasquez, both of San Acacio, NM; a sister, Irene Velasquez of San Acacio, NM; and ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Worley -- Billie Worley, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, passed away May 27, 2000. He was born August 21, 1922 in Milam Co, Texas, the youngest of six brothers. Billie is survived by his wife, Alva; son, Billie Ray Worley and wife, Ana, son, Rex Worley and wife, Judy; daughter, Sheryl Worley; and step-daughter, Jan Dimmitt; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Billie retired from Texico after 30 years, then went into commercial real estate as a broker. Billie served his country during World War II in the Navy. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved to hunt and fish, went to Africa on two big game Safaris, played golf, belonged to Tanoan Country Club, and was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church since 1959. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
