Velasquez -- Armando Velasquez, 74, died on May 28, 2000 in Albuquerque. He was born in San Acacio, CO and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He attended Adams State College where he received a master's degree in Education. He moved to Albuqueruque in 1959 where he was employed at Albuquerque Public Schools until his retirement. He was Assistant Principal at Rio Grande, West Mesa, and Manzano. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Robbins in 1988 and is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Velasquez; children, Edward Velasquez and wife Suzanne, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Alcario Velasquez and wife Pauline of Albuquerque, Alex Velasquez of Alamosa, CO, Damian Velasquez and wife JoAnn of Santa Fe, NM, Dan Velasquez and wife Grace of Taos, NM, and Anselmo Velasquez and Delfino Velasquez, both of San Acacio, NM; a sister, Irene Velasquez of San Acacio, NM; and ten grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Church of the Risen Savior with Fr. Richard Olona as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE.
