ABBOTT -- Regina Wood Abbott S.F.O., age 66, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 24, 2004. Regina was born on April 11, 1938 in Athens, Ohio to Frank and Elsie Wood. She is survived by one son, Charles Abbott of Aurora, CO; daughter, Sarah Abbott of Albuquerque; brother, Frank Wood of Whitter, CA; and one grandson, John Abbott of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Abbott and her brother, David Wood. Regina professed as a member of the Secular Franciscan Order in 2000 and served until her death. Rosary will take place on Tuesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. BOOTH -- John "Sara" Booth, age 52, resident of Albuquerque for four years, passed away Friday, June 25, 2004. BRACKEN -- Bobbie Jean Bracken, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died Saturday, June 26, 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly A. Jackson, Jacqueline M. Casteel and husband, Jesse, and Sondra Isaminger and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Monica St. John and husband, Chris, Sherry Jackson, Christie Jackson, Charles Dowdy III and wife, Erica, Tonya Casteel, David Casteel and wife, Desire, and Shawn Casteel; great-grandchildren, Alexander Neff, Brittney Neff, Alexxa Nieto, Sabrina Nieto, Trinity Dowdy, Richard Dowdy, Madison Dowdy, Angelica Casteel, and Elizabeth Eve Casteel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bracken; daughter, Betty; and granddaughter, Michelle Isaminger. She was born in Sapulpa, OK and met Clarence Bracken in Wichita, KS where they were married in 1946. She followed him wherever his tour duties in the USAF took them. They moved to Albuquerque in 1964 and later they operated Grandma and Grandpa's Day Care for several years. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. BROWN -- Charles R.L. Brown, age 85, passed away June 25, 2004 in Albuquerque. He was born September 23, 1918 in Texarkana, Texas to Robert Lee Brown and Madeliena Manson Brown. He moved to the Albuquerque area in the early 1950's. He was a member and a deacon of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Musician Union # 618. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Charles Brown Jr., and his parents. Survivors include two sons, Darryl Brown of Coleman, TX, and Mark Brown of Albuquerque; five daughters, Marcelita Sutton and husband, Leo of Las Vegas, NV., Dorinda Watson of Port Mouth, VA., Diedra Furvish, Mary Jo Brown and fiancee, Johnny Rockwell, and Charlene Brown all of Albuquerque; one sister, Phignora Brown of Las Vegas, NV; three step-daughters, Devana Harston and Merle, both of Albuquerque, Carla of Tuscon, AZ; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. CORREA -- Severa Correa, age 78, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004. Severa is survived by her five children, Father Gino Correa, OFM, Pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church in Albuquerque; A. Carlos Correa of Maryland, Irma Chavira, Pablo Correa, Sofia Matthews; and their respective spouses, Joe Chavira, Helen Correa, and Cliff Matthews; eight grandchildren, Laura, Sandra, Ambrose, Jacob, Nicole, Marcos, Joao, and Elvis. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW, on Tuesday, June 29, 2004. Viewing and visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. There will be a reception at the Parish Hall following the Mass. DEGARMO -- Kenton DeGarmo, 48, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2004. Kenny and his family moved to NM in 1995. He worked at the Balloon Fiesta Park as Retail Merchandise Manager and Artistic Director of the "Holiday Fiesta." Previously, Kenny designed some and built many of the electric light sculptures for the Albuquerque BioPark's annual "River of Lights" display at Christmas. Always enthusiastic about sports, Kenny coached girls' basketball at Holy Ghost Catholic School where his younger daughter is a student. He made his children and their athletic interests a priority in his life, so it was understandable that he became an avid supporter and attendee at AAU and AYBL girls' basketball games and Eldorado/Sandia High Schools' and AWP's water polo matches. Kenny's sense of humor and ready smile won him many friends who will miss him and may want to attend his Memorial Service at the Albuquerque BioPark on July 5 at 5:30 p.m. Donations can be made at any First State Bank to the Kenny DeGarmo Memorial Fund which will establish an educational trust for his children. GAISER -- Thomas Martin Gaiser, 81, passed away peacefully at home Sunday evening, June 27, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen; his daughter, Mary Christina and her husband, David Wertz, and their children, David, Katherine, Christopher and Sara; his son, Thomas Martin, Jr., his son, Soren and his fiancee, Cynthia Haskins; his son, Timothy Ross and his wife, Carla, and their children, Maria and Patrick of San Francisco, CA; his son, Theodore George and his fiancee, Sandra Housewright, her children, Heath Weihe and his wife, Rachel, Audra Clemens and her daughter, Aubrey; his son, Terence Patrick and his wife, Sue and their children, Brian and Emily; his daughter, Anastasia Teresa and her fiancee, David Galanti; his sister, Mary Julia and her husband, Joseph Spaulding of Northglenn, CO and his brother, John of Wichita, KS; and numerous family members and friends. He was born in Wichita, KS, January 29,, 1923, the fourth son of five children, to George J. Gaiser and Mary Frances O'Connor. He attended St. Mary's Cathedral school and graduated in 1942. He entered military service in February, 1943 and served in the European Theater of Operations. He was honorably discharged from the US Army with the rank of Master Sergeant, in 1947. He returned to Wichita and began his long career in interior design. He married Mary Ellen Wade in Mercedes, TX in 1951. they moved to Texas from Wichita in 1952 and then relocated to Albuquerque in October 1962. After retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the entire fifty states. He has been a member of Queen of Heaven Parish since 1962. He is pre-deceased by his parents and his brothers, William and James. Visitation will be at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2004. Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church, 5310 Claremont NE. GENDON -- Stanton Gendon, 81, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was born in Chicago, IL on June 1, 1923 and had been a resident of Albuquerque for thirty years. He is survived by his wife, Alta Laree Yancey; children, Richard Gendon of Naperville, IL and Diane Lukoff of Chicago, IL; and one grandchild, Lauren Lukoff. Stanton was the former owner of AA Auto and a member of the Paradise Hills Golf Club. He was a loyal friend to many people in Albuquerque. A private memorial service will be held by the family. HILL -- Clarence Truman Hill, 85, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2004. He was born in Paducah, Texas and was a long time resident of the North Valley of Albuquerque. He worked for Albuquerque Transit, with the bus company and retired in 1980. Truman was a veteran who proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He is preceded in death by brothers, Bill Hill Jr., Curtis Jay Hill; and sister, Carrie Nichols. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 53 years, and many other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Truman committed his life to the Lord in 1971 after counseling with Pastor Carl Hatton, and was a faithful member of the Albuquerque Bible Church for 33 years. HOLLEY -- Mr. Raymond Lewis Holley, 81, of Lillian, AL, died at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL the morning of June 26, 2004. Born April 8, 1923 in Tolar, NM to Virgil S. Holley and Vera Smith Holley. Graduated from Eunice High School, Eunice, NM in 1940 and the family relocated to Artesia, NM in 1941. WWII Veteran in the US Army Air Corps February 1943-January 1946. Married to Nancy McCall Holley May 21, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM. Survivors include his wife Nancy, and children, Waldon Holley, Charleston, SC; Gayle Holley Spangler, Belmont, NC; Linda Holley Kapral, Atlanta, GA; Daniel Holley, Ellenwood, GA.; grandchildren: Sean (Tony) Holley, Greenvile, SC; Lance and Ashley Holley, Charleston, SC; Jodie Kapral Zerega, Atlanta, GA; Wendy Holley Padgett, Gastonia, NC; Angela Spangler Hastings, Charlotte, NC; Kelli and Andrew Holley, Ellenwood, GA; great-grandchildren: Landon, Lee, Lauren, and Savannah Holley; Tyler Frost; Caroline and Will Zerega. He is also survived by Gladys Turnipseed (sister) of Lovington, NM; Marvin (brother) and Rosalee Holley of Cypress, CA; brother-in-law Walter Bynum of Lakewood, CA. LAKE -- Gerald Hunton Lake, 88 years young and a resident of New Mexico since 1921, died June 26, 2004. Gerald was born in Huntington, Arkansas on October 30, 1915; he was the son of Everett Gerald Lake and Lucille Hunton Lake of Belen, New Mexico. He married Edythe Augusta Scroggs on November 11, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Cheryl Wallerstedt and husband, David of Albuquerque, and Karen Henderson and husband, Butch of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Mary Catherine Boucher and Eleanor Love; and sister-in-law, Lucille Lake of Belen, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Eppa, Edgar and Phil Lake. They have seven grandchildren, Gerald Gene, who preceded him in death, Dawn and husband, Alan, Ryan, Rex, Jodi, Janna, and Rick; two great-grandchildren, Briana and Brendan Sandoval; and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended public schools in Belen, New Mexico. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Architecture in 1941. During World War II, he worked with the Army Corps of Engineers building army camps in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. He also redesigned luxury liners converting them into hospital ships in New Orleans where he met his wife. In 1950, he returned to New Mexico to begin employment with Ferguson, Stevens, and Decker, architects, assisting in the architectural design of the Bataan Lovelace Hospital. Later he worked for J.G. Meem of Santa Fe, as a consultant on the buildings on the UNM campus. In 1955, he partnered with John Kruger to establish the architectural engineering firm of Kruger, Lake and Henderson. The firm designed and engineered many New Mexico buildings such as the Glorietta Baptist Assembly Auditorium, First Baptist Church Addition, Gallup Rehoboth McKinley Hospital and many other New Mexico hospitals and churches, NMSU Dormitories, and the Baptist Student Unions. He was a long time member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church. He retired in the 80's and pursued family interest, church work, travel, fishing and gardening. He constantly amused his family and friends with his sense of humor and humorous stories. His love for God, church, family and friends was unsurpassed. A viewing will be held at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Tuesday, June 29, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 30th at First Baptist Church in Albuquerque. LEBOW -- Martha Walter LeBow, 89, of Santa Fe, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2004. She was born on April 10, 1915 in Syracuse, Kansas. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. LeBow in 1998. She is survived by sons Edward and wife, Betty Sue, Reece and wife, Shirley; daughter, Christy and husband, George Croshaw; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Frena Torres; brother-in-law, George LeBow and their families. LEVERTON -- Madeline Doris Leverton, 79, a resident of Elephant Butte since 1985, died on Saturday June 26, 2004 at Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences, NM. Madeline was born in Webb City, Oklahoma on October 19, 1924, to Marcelus and Mae Mary Thorn. During World War II, she was a photographer, and was the secretary, and bookkeeper for the family business, Leverton Engineering Company in Albuquerque, NM. She was an avid genealogist, and a member of the N.M. Genealogy Society; enjoyed playing Bingo, loved the lake and boating and New Mexico History. A homemaker, she was also a Poet - a member of the N.M. Orchid Society; an active member of Elephant Butte VFW Post #1389 Auxiliary; the American Legion Post #44; Moose Lodge #2050 and former Chamber of Commerce Manager in Ruidoso, NM. She leaves behind her son - Jack W. & wife, Carol Rachels of Holly Heights, OH; her daughters - Marcelea Sweet of TorC, NM; Nancy Seeley & husband, Don of Albuquerque, NM; Melissa Loomis & husband, Bill of Elephant Butte, NM; four grandchildren - Kathryn Bright, Autumn Seeley, John Loomis & Kevin Seeley. Mrs. Leverton was preceded in death by her husband, John George Leverton in 1996 and by parents, Marcelus and Mae Mary Thorn; and sisters, Marcella O'Connell and Erma Lea Eaves. ORTIZ -- Jerry V. "Tito" Ortiz, 30, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2004 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Arsenio I. Ortiz and grandmother, Rachel Buschey; Jerry was a new father who loved his baby girl (Jalyn) and tenderly referred to her as "mama". He was a loving and caring husband, father and stepfather. PACHECO -- Tony L. Pacheco, 49, a resident of Rio Rancho (formerly of Alameda), passed away with his loving family at his side on Sunday, June 27, 2004. Tony was a retired mechanic from the Bernalillo County Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia B. Pacheco; mother-in-law, Priscilla Dauber; brothers, Manuel and Frank Pacheco and his dog, Muffin. He is survived by the three women in his life, beloved wife, Lilly; "Baby" (daughter) Amber; and his dog, Annie Girl; father, Augustine J. Pacheco; sister, Sandra and husband, Michael; brothers, Robert and wife, Emily, Larry and wife, Liz, Victor and wife, Shelley; sisters-in-law, Jeanette and husband, Ralph, Lucille (Lulu) and husband, Gerald; brothers-in-law, Rick Dauber and wife, Tina, Ben and Leroy Dauber; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. PAZZI -- Darlene L. Morgan (Dixon) Pazzi was born January 27, 1930 and began her eternal life with our Lord on June 27, 2004. As a young woman Darlene was very active in the Albuquerque Garden Club and various programs with her children. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for several years and then worked at San Juan Regional Hospital as a supervisor for the emergency room administration office for 18 years. She retired due to a work related accident and since then has lived in the Albuquerque and Peralta area. Her smile was freely given to everyone she met and her kindnesses were numerous to her friends, neighbors, children, and grandchildren. She loved Jesus, dance, the theater, and to create arts and crafts, painting, crocheting, flowers and children. Her family loves her very much and she will be extremely missed. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Lula Brachear. She is survived by her sons, Keith A. Dixon and his wife, Naoma of Peralta, NM, Gordon L. Dixon and his wife, Debra of Albuquerque, and Nick Pazzi of Bloomfield, NM; thirteen grandchildren, Galen A. Dixon and his wife, Sharon, Alicia D. and her husband, Jason Jones, Rene and her husband, Lonnie Jernigan, Gordon L. Dixon, Jr., Adam Dixon, Shirley and her husband, Dean Gutierrez, Billy Brewster, Nichole Pazzi and Bucky Pazzi, Janell and her husband, Phillip Gallegos, John R. Hawks and his wife, Tracy, Justus R. Hawks and his wife, Amanda, Jesse E. Hawks and his wife, Debbie; twenty beautiful great grandchildren, and cousins Anna Beth Brock and her family and Chuck and Donna Ross and their family. Darlene's wishes of Cremation have been respected and a grave side service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Albuquerque, NM. SILVA -- Hericelda "Grace" Gutierrez Silva, 93, died peacefully on June 28, 2004. Her loving family surrounded her. Hericelda is survived by two loyal caregivers, her daughter Cecilia Mirabal and granddaughter Cynthia Torres; son, Eddie Gutierrez and wife, Ruth; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass to celebrate her resurrection into heaven will be on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. TAFOYA -- Eloy O. Tafoya, 69, a resident of Belen passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was born on November 24, 1934 to Hipolito and Florence Tafoya. He served in the Marines as a Sergeant during the Korean conflict. He was a City Councilor for the City of Belen for three consecutive terms, eight of those as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus and Belen Lions Club. Eloy was an employee at F&E Department Store for 32 years and 10 years as the City of Belen personnel director until his retirement. He was also a Charter Member of the Marine Corp. League and its chaplain. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Eloy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vangie; five children, Denise Braun and husband Erich of Colorado Springs, Martha Cesarano and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Pam Tafoya of Colorado Springs, Donna Bernal and husband Randy from Los Angeles, and Eloy Tafoya, II from Belen; and five grandchildren, Kaylah and Melissa Braun, Brad and Anna Cesarano, and Luke Tafoya. He is also survived by five brothers, Herman (Flora), Max, Ross (Emma), Gilbert (Jane), all of Belen, John (Margaret) of Huntington Beach, CA and sister Lorena from Los Angeles. A visitation will be Tuesday evening June 29, 2004 from 6:30-7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning June 30, 2004 from 8:30-9:00 a.m. with mass to be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Cesarano, David Baumann, Edward Gonzales, Richard Bernal, Robin Bernal and Gene Trujillo. THOMPSON -- Sandra Lynne "Sandy" Thompson. Born December 23, 1940, died June 27, 2004. Born in Langdon, ND to Bennie and Bjorg Johannesson. Preceded in death by son, David Daugherty; sister, Peggy Johnson; and father, Bennie Johannesson. She is survived by husband, Bob Thompson; daughter, Dana Newman; step-children, Steven and Michael Thompson and Shelly Lang; brothers, Clancy, Kenny, and Eric Johannesson; and sister, Deena Putnam; grandchildren, Ryan and Kiersten Hall, Aubrey and April Thompson and Dylan and Greyson Newman. Sandy worked at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque for several years, then later co-owned SanRo Electric with her husband until retirement. Later, she divided her time between Albuquerque and Scholle, New Mexico, where she enjoyed entertaining, dancing, and visiting with friends. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The New Mexico Cancer Center for their compassion, dedication, and optimism. VIARRIAL -- Gov. Jacob Viarrial, 58, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004 of natural causes in Juarez, Mexico. He was the Governor of the Pueblo of Pojoaque for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Feliciana Viarrial; brother, Margarito Viarrial; sisters, Maria Inez and Frances Viarrial. He was loved so very much by his family and friends. He was a very kind and generous man and loved helping people. Gov. Jacob will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He also served in the US Navy for 6 years and received an Honorable Discharge and was a Vietnam Veteran. Gov. Jacob is survived by his sisters, Cordie Gomez, Dora Martinez, Phoebe Petty and Josefina Villarreal; brother, Ben Viarrial and wife Flora, Jim and Ralph Viarrial all from the Pueblo of Pojoaque and many cousins, nieces, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-great-nephews all of whom loved him very much and considered him their best friend, favorite uncle and was a father figure to them. Gov. Jacob is also survived by his aunt, Mary Quintana and very many good friends, especially Sen. Nancy Rodriguez of Santa Fe, Melissa Salazar of El Guique, Araceli Maspons from Juarez, Mexico, Frank Demolli from Pojoaque, Joe Trujillo with Sen.
