Obituary for BROWN

Charles R.L. Brown, age 85, passed away June 25, 2004 in Albuquerque. He was born September 23, 1918 in Texarkana, Texas to Robert Lee Brown and Madeliena Manson Brown. He moved to the Albuquerque area in the early 1950's. He was a member and a deacon of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Musician Union # 618. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Charles Brown Jr., and his parents. Survivors include two sons, Darryl Brown of Coleman, TX, and Mark Brown of Albuquerque; five daughters, Marcelita Sutton and husband, Leo of Las Vegas, NV., Dorinda Watson of Port Mouth, VA., Diedra Furvish, Mary Jo Brown and fiancee, Johnny Rockwell, and Charlene Brown all of Albuquerque; one sister, Phignora Brown of Las Vegas, NV; three step-daughters, Devana Harston and Merle, both of Albuquerque, Carla of Tuscon, AZ; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2004 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM. Services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2401 University Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 with Reverend Stephen Billingslea officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque. Arrangements are under the direction of: Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Avenue SE 842-8800
