ARMIJO -- David C. Armijo was born October 12, 1916 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and died February 4, 2004 in San Gabriel, California. After graduating high school, he became a licensed pilot and worked for Wright Aeronautical in Patterson, New Jersey for one year until Lockheed Aricraft hired him. He worked in Europe and the United States with offices in New York's Chrysler Building, Washington D.C., and Hampton, Virginia. Eventually transferring to California, his fluency in Spanish, Italian, and English had him working all over the United States and South America while earning a BA in Business Administration. David was Chairman of California All Risk Insurance Company, Secretary/Treasurer and Board Member of Westland Development Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Director of the Lockheed Overseas Association. He had been a past president and member of the Lion's Club for over 27 years. He was a member of the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center Hospital Community Board and a member of the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center hospital Foundation Board for over 20 years. He was on the Planning Commission for the City of San Gabriel and he was the Chairman when the city gave approval for the (then named) Community Hospital of San Gabriel to be built. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara; sons, David Jr. and John, and two grandchildren. COMPTON -- CMSgt William Joseph (Joe), loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in Albuquerque on February 17, 2004. He was born in Albuquerque on February 14, 1948 and was a life long resident of New Mexico. Joe enlisted in the New Mexico Air National Guard in 1966 then became a full-time Guardsman in 1972. He served in Vietnam with the New Mexico Air National Guard 150th Fighter Group. At the time of his death, he was still a current member, as the Component Repair Branch Chief. CMSgt Compton was a decorated Senior NCO, having earned numerous honors to include: the AF Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal-2 devices, AF Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal-4 devices. He was an active member of the Enlisted Association of the United States, and served on the Executive board for many years. Joe was also active in the Chiefs Council, which promotes the esprit de corps for the members of the Guard, their families, and the community. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Albuquerque in 1975. Joe never met a stranger he didn't learn to know or a fish he didn't want to catch. The hobby that took most of his time was helping others. His mother and father, Collette Clara and William Robert Compton, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan, daughters Sheri Lorraine and Lt. Christine Marie Compton, a brother John Robert Compton, and many cousins and very dear friends, who will miss him greatly. The family would like to thank the many expressions of sympathy they have received. Services will be held at Central United Methodist, 1615 Copper NE, on Monday, February 23rd at 11:00 AM with internment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. COWTON -- Maxine Vivian Jones Cowton, 87, passed away February 18, 2004 while peacefully surrounded by her family. Maxine was born February 13, 1917 in Audubon, IA to John and Bertha Jones. Maxine is survived by her two daughters Maxine JoAnn Cowton of Albuquerque, NM and Kathryn Kay Herring of Ankeny, IA; Granddaughters Julia Hansen Ransom, husband John and children Ella and Max, and Heather Hansen Gallegos, husband Tim and daughter Hannah of Albuquerque, NM; Grandson Jeffrey Rabe, wife Susan, son Joshua and wife Rebecca, of Monte Vista, CA; Grandson Robert Rabe and wife Jeanne of Greeley, CO; and Granddaughter Cythia Ripperger, husband Stan and children Zachary, Erin, and Katelyn of Indianola, IA; Sister Edna Hageman of Portland, OR and several nieces and nephews. Maxine will be buried next to her husband, Louis V. Cowton Jr. in Audubon, IA. Gravesite services are scheduled for February 25, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, IA and a visitation with the family immediately following at the United Methodist Church.

CRISP -- Ira Vincent "Vince" Crisp, age 86, died on Friday, February 13, 2004 in Clayton, New Mexico . I. V. "Vince" was born May 2, 1917 on the family homestead in Thomas, NM to Ira Nain Crisp and Minnie Alice (Cardwell) Crisp. At age 13, "Vince" became a working cowboy when he helped drive a herd of horses to the 101 Ranch in northern Oklahoma. I.V. "Vince" married Irene Christian in 1939 and they started their own ranch, Echoing Hoof Ranch, on the Springer Highway in 1953. In 1955 he helped drive a herd of twenty buffalo from the Oklahoma Panhandle to a newly built attraction called Ft. Jordan, north of Clayton. Vince was often known for his ornate welding work as evident by the many gates and ranch decor on his home ranch. Ever present in the community, he always rode in the 4th of July Parade in Clayton. His many awards include being named Union County Old-Timer and recently being awarded the Buck Ramsey Cowboy Lifetime Achievement Award on September 20, 2003 in Nara Visa, NM. The award is to honor the recipient for fostering and living the "Cowboy Way of Life". As Vince often enjoyed doing for family and friends, he sang "Punchin' the Dough", about a Trail Drive Cook, and "Zebra Dunn", during the awards ceremony. A portrait of Vince by artist Mona Tanzola, is on display at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM. He was preceded in death by his above mentioned parents, and by 7 siblings. Vincent is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Crisp of Clayton, NM; one daughter, Dr. Carleen Lazzell and her husband, Rue of Albuquerque; one son, Bill Crisp and his wife, Pat of Clayton, NM; seven grandchildren, including 7 great-granddaughters; one brother, Norman Crisp and his wife, Dean and two sisters, Lorenne Rigsby and her husband, Ret. Col. Cecil Rigsby and Loretta West. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Benny Gilbert Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Farmers and Stockmans Bank in Clayton, or to the Memorial of your choice. DAVISON -- Jack H. Davison, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, died February 19, 2004. He is the son of Oscar William Davison and Virginia Hamilton Davison, and was born in MacAlester, Okla., September 29, 1926. Jack lived in Rio Rancho 15 years after moving from Joliet, IL. Jack was a veteran of World War II. He was active at his church, Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the choir. He also was active with the Albuquerque Concert Band and the West Side Sound Jazz Band. He held bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Oklahoma. Jack was a special education teacher in Joliet public schools until he retired after 30 years in 1982. He survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie Cutler Davison; four children, Katherine Wight and her husband, Keith of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia Davison of Rio Rancho, Holly Davis and her husband, Robert of Joliet, IL., Linda Lowery and her husband, the Rev. Lee of Alabaster, AL.; six grandchildren, Katherine Gleaves, Sean Foust, Amy Foust, Andrew Davis, Sara Lowery and Katherine Lowery; brother, Edward Davison of Long Beach, Calif.; his cousin, and lifelong friend, Gregory Clement and wife, Sharon of Metairie, La. FLINN -- Elbert G. Flinn, 84, died Sunday, February 15, 2004. He is survived by his son, Elby G. Flinn and wife, Valerie of San Antonio, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Flinn; and two great-granddaughters, Tiffany and Leila. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Erma L. Flinn in February 1997. Mr. Flinn served his country in the US Army Air Corp. during WWII, as a Flight Officer, glider pilot with the 82nd Airborne Division and 101 Airborne Division. He also successfully owned and operated a hearing aid company in Cheyenne, WY and Albuquerque, NM for over 40 years. Mr. Flinn will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and a gifted storyteller. Mr. Flinn was laid to rest last Friday in a graveside service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. GOLDEN -- Donna Jean Golden, age 74, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2004. She had fought a valiant battle against colon cancer. She was a resident of Albuquerque since moving here from Walnut Creek, California on July 3, 2000 to be near her daughter's family. Donna was born October 16, 1929 in Richmond, Indiana. She was the only child of Sam Busby and Mildred Coppock. Her grandfather, James Busby immigrated to America from Tyrone County, Ireland at the age of 16 in 1897. Her other grandfather, John Coppock owned an ice cream factory in Richmond and also was an auctioneer. Her mother, Mildred worked as a seamstress for the Atlas Underwear Company where the underwear for the Mercury astronauts was made. She grew up in Indiana and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English with a minor in Theater from Indiana University in 1951. She then worked for the Bobbs-Merrill Publishing Company in Indianapolis as a proofreader, where she worked on an early edition of The Joy of Cooking. She moved to California with her husband and daughter in 1964, where she lived until coming to New Mexico. She was a homemaker and mother and volunteer. While living in Walnut Creek, she did volunteer work in the library at the Rossmoor Retirement Community and also in a Hospice thrift store. She loved books and the theatre. She enjoyed being near her loving family, who miss her dearly. She enjoyed getting to see the traveling production of The Music Man and attending recent concerts by Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel as well as performances of the Albuquerque Girl Choir, in which her granddaughter Abby sang, and the Border Brothers, in which her son-in-law, Bob, performed. She particularly enjoyed a trip to Durango, Colorado last fall with her family to ride the narrow gauge railroad. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Jill Gray; her son-in-law, Robert Norman Gray; her granddaughters, Amanda Sue Gray and Abigail Jean Gray; as well as by a half sister, Phyllis Gable, of Florida. Her body was cremated and her family plans to take her back to Richmond, Indiana this summer to be interred with her mother. A private family service will be conducted at that time, during which her request that Amanda play her favorite fiddle tune, Ashoken Farewell, will be honored. The family requests that any interested parties may make contributions to the National Colorectal Cancer Research Institute.

NAGRODSKY -- Martha Nagrodsky, 60, a resident of Belen for 25 years, passed away on February 21. She is survived by her husband, Mark, and her two children, Laurie Martinez and David Lucas. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joeseph and James Stradtman, and by her sister, Mary. She is survived by her, brothers Will, David, Paul and John Stradtman and by her sisters, Sarah, Berta, and Edith. She was a member of the Belen Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. NEWELL -- Mildred Daniel Newell, 94, a long time resident of Albuquerque and Ft. Sumner, NM died on Thursday, February 12, 2004. She is survived by four grandchildren, Nancie Bagdon and husband, Al, Troy Newell and wife, Kim, Linora Claussen and Kent Newell all of Denver, CO. Three great-grandchildren, Stacie Nicholson Brader and husband, Ryan, Kellie Nicholson Edwards and husband, Brian, and Jared Gene Newell. One great-great- granddaughter, Alison Edwards. Mildred is also survived by two sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Newell and son, Bob Newell. Mildred's husband worked as a welder and was very talented in every phase of ironwork. Upon his retirement, Mildred and Lou moved to Ft. Sumner. When they traveled back to Albuquerque, they always had a room with their good friends, Dr. Paul and Marty Lambert. Mildred was a loving wife and mother who loved her home and especially working in her yard. She was an avid collector of bottles, cans, stamps and many other items of interest to her. O'ROURKE -- John O'Rourke, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Thursday, February 19, 2004. He is survived by one son, John O'Rourke of Cedar Hill, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne. He will be remembered as a man who did his best for his wife and son. He came from a broken, abusive home, yet became a kind and loving husband and father. He had no opportunity for education, yet valued it and sent his son through one of the country's most exclusive private universities. No one taught him skills, yet he became a conscientious worker and a good provider. The kindness of a man who allowed children to listen to his radio in the 1920's made him a New York Yankees fan for life. He freely helped others and was grateful for what kindness he received. PAGE -- Henry Decker Page, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 35 years, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2004. Henry was born July 16,1917 the son of William L. and Clara Decker Page in North Egremont, Massachusetts. He came to New Mexico from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Henry served in the Air Force during WW II. He retired from the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield, after 30 years. He had been a head usher at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church for 25 years. He also had worked for AMREP as a warehouse manager. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Laura A. Page on February 1, 2002. He is survived by two children, Laura Page Cox and husband Patrick of Waterbury, CT, and Dianne Page Britain of Memphis, TN; one sister, Ethel M. Durlack of Canaan, NY; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private funeral Mass will be held at a later time. PAPPAS -- Nick Pappas, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died on Friday, February 20, 2004. REZELMAN -- Dorothy Marie Rezelman, 88, died on February 8, 2004 in Albuquerque. She was born in Holland, MI to Henry and Mary Coppleman Steketee. Mrs. Rezelman was a charter member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, where she served as a former president of Synodical with Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter AN and a certified Braillist for the Blind. RUIZ -- Pilar age 92, passed away Friday, February 20, 2004, after a brief illness. Precious, sweet, devoted adoring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, relative and friend, blessed each of our lives richly. Pilar loved the Lord, and we know with out a doubt she is in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was born April 5,1911 in Santa Fe. NM and in 1945 moved to Los Alamos NM where she and her husband, Levy raised their family and in later years settled in Albuquerque, NM, where she lived the rest of her life. God blessed Pilar with a loving, caring, compassionate, kind, gentle, generous, and precious spirit that touched so many lives with love, comfort and laughter. She always put others first before her own needs. Pilar was preceded in death by her husband, Liberato (Levy) Ruiz. and her son, Joe L. Ruiz. She is survived by a brother, Tinsy Pino; daughter, Phyllis Rodriguez, and son-in-law Tony; son, Raymond Ruiz, and daughter-in-law, Harriet; daughter-in law, Kay Nations-Ruiz; son, Tom Ruiz, and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou; daughter, Rita Peaslee and son-in-law, Jim, daughter, Juanita Miguel, and son-in-law, Charlie, daughter, Dolores Fulcher, and son-in-law, Jim; 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many other close relatives. A special heartfelt THANK YOU to her granddaughter, Jackie Baca, husband, Rudy and all their children and grandchildren for the loving, tender and compassionate care they gave her for the many years she lived with them. RUSH-WILLIAMS -- Judy Rush-Williams, 56, June 16, 1947 - January 10, 2004. A resident of Corrales for the past eight years died in Auburn, CA at the home of her sister. Judy was a graduate of Los Medanos School of Nursing and practiced nursing in Albuquerque. She is survived by her mother, Doris Brantley; her daughter, Christina Crockett; sons, Michael Abbey and Kenneth Miller; and two sisters, Frances Alman and Patti Solin; and two grandchildren, Amanda Mack and Brianna Crockett. A Memorial Service was held February 8, 2004, at sea, off the coast of California. SAIS -- Neph "Chena" Sais, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday afternoon, February 20, 2004, she is now at peace. Neph was a beloved sister and aunt. She was born in Casa Colorado, New Mexico on August 15, 1917. Neph was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Antonia Sais and her brothers, Pilar and Valentin Sais. She is survived by her sisters, Carmen Gonzales and husband, Francisco, Dina Bisio and Sylvia Armijo; and several nieces and nephews, all of Albuquerque. Neph started her career at the Hilton Hotel and moved her way up, and later moved to California where she was a nurse. She then became the primary caregiver of her mother, Antonia. Neph was a very caring and selfless individual always there to assist her family in all ways and was a devout Catholic all her life. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:30 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. SANCHEZ -- Jenny Sanchez, 87, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed from this earth on Friday, February 20, 2004. Jenny beloved great grandmother, grandmother, mother, daughter, sister and friend lived her life of 86 years to the fullest and surrounded herself with family. She joins her husband, Augustine Sanchez, her son, Donald Lawrence Sanchez and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Garcia. Jenny accepted her role as a pillar of the family, and followed in Christ's footsteps and had many friends in all walks of life. Jenny's home was always open to anyone who might need a hot meal, someone to talk to, or just a place to pass time. Jenny always accepted what life dealt her, losing many loved ones, she still had a great sense of humor and remained lively for the rest of her days. Born in Pojaque to Albina and Nicolas Blea on January 1, 1918. She is survived and mourned by her son, Joseph Stanley Sanchez and wife, Lupe; brother, Ramon Blea; son-in-law, Lorenzo Garcia; granddaughters, Barbara Gurule and husband, Ernest, Stacie Scharton and husband, Tim; grandsons, Lorenzo C.A. Garcia and Christian F. Sanchez; eight great-grandchildren, Christina, Angelica, Timothy, Angel, Brandi, Lori, Donald, Aubrey and Eric and her brother, Ramon Blea. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. SMITH -- Windell Preston Smith, age 78, of Mesa and Lakeside, Arizona passed suddenly from this life on February 4, 2004. Windell was a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years. He was born April 14, 1925 in Munday, TX. Windell graduated from high school in Miami, AZ, after serving three tours in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Beverly in 1949 and moved to Albuquerque where he worked in the construction industry. They were later divorced. He returned to Arizona upon retirement and married Jean in 1996. They resided in Mesa, AZ. Windell is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Terry S. Koehler of Colorado and her husband, David, Patty Peery of Texas; and son, Mark Smith and wife, Bonnie of AZ. He is also survived by grandsons, Michael and Sam Peery; and a great-grandson all of Texas. In addition, Windell is survived by two brothers, James Smith and Richard Smith both of Arizona. A Memorial Service was held on February 9, 2004 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Mortuary Chapel in Mesa, Arizona. A kind and gentle man, an avid golfer and Diamondback fan, he will be greatly missed by family and friends.

TRIMBLE -- Bessie Denney Trimble, 93, a resident of Albuquerque and former resident of Bovina, Texas, died Monday, February 16, 2004. WEBB -- Richard Lee Webb, resident of Albuquerque for the past 10 years, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Cecelia D. nee Romeyn of Albuquerque; cousins, Judy Farmer, Christine Luhe Hejinian and Kathryn Luhe; nieces, Karen Strempel, Janet Nelson, and Charlotte Maly; nephews, Bruce Maly, Brian, James, Robert, and Kevin Romeyn, and Michael; sister-in-law, Theda Horak. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Herschel, who was a doctor (of Oriental Language) at Columbia University. Richard was born November 18, 1917, in Seward, NE to Orie and Olga Webb. He attended the University of Nebraska, Class of 1939. Richard served in the US Army for six years. During this time, he was assigned to Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe, NM. At the beginning of the Korean War, he was recalled serving in Korea until 1953. Richard began a career with the Department of Justice in 1949, retiring in 1973, with foreign as well as stateside assignments. Upon his retirement in 1973, the Webbs lived in Santa Fe for 18 years. Richard was a member of Masonic Lodge, Hallock, MN, Montezuma Lodge #1 in Santa Fe, NM, York Bodies in Minnesota, Scottish Rite Bodies in Santa Fe, NM, the Ballut Abyad Shrine of Albuquerque, Temple Lodge #6 and National Sojourners, Order of Quetzalcoatl See of North America, and Disabled American Veterans. He was active as a volunteer for the Minnesota American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society in Santa Fe, as well as the Indian Museum and the Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe. Richard was an active participant in the Shrine Clown Unit prior to his illness. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, February 23, 2004, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. David Casson of Sandia Presbyterian Church and Ralph Gulder, officiating. Interment of cremated remains will take place Tuesday, February 24, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
