Obituary for ARMIJO

David C. Armijo was born October 12, 1916 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and died February 4, 2004 in San Gabriel, California. After graduating high school, he became a licensed pilot and worked for Wright Aeronautical in Patterson, New Jersey for one year until Lockheed Aricraft hired him. He worked in Europe and the United States with offices in New York's Chrysler Building, Washington D.C., and Hampton, Virginia. Eventually transferring to California, his fluency in Spanish, Italian, and English had him working all over the United States and South America while earning a BA in Business Administration. David was Chairman of California All Risk Insurance Company, Secretary/Treasurer and Board Member of Westland Development Company of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Director of the Lockheed Overseas Association. He had been a past president and member of the Lion's Club for over 27 years. He was a member of the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center Hospital Community Board and a member of the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center hospital Foundation Board for over 20 years. He was on the Planning Commission for the City of San Gabriel and he was the Chairman when the city gave approval for the (then named) Community Hospital of San Gabriel to be built. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara; sons, David Jr. and John, and two grandchildren. The family asks that a memorial fund be established at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center in David's memory. Donations may be made to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center Foundation, 438 W.
