Obituary for O'ROURKE

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday February 22, 2004

John O'Rourke, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Thursday, February 19, 2004. He is survived by one son, John O'Rourke of Cedar Hill, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne. He will be remembered as a man who did his best for his wife and son. He came from a broken, abusive home, yet became a kind and loving husband and father. He had no opportunity for education, yet valued it and sent his son through one of the country's most exclusive private universities. No one taught him skills, yet he became a conscientious worker and a good provider. The kindness of a man who allowed children to listen to his radio in the 1920's made him a New York Yankees fan for life. He freely helped others and was grateful for what kindness he received. Cryptside services will be held Monday, February 23, 2004, at 9:00 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Entombment will follow. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, Sunday, February 22, 2004, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. 275-3500
