Armijo -- Mr. Waldo Armijo went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2001. Mr. Armijo was born on January 4, 1919 in Golden, NM. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the DAV. Mr. Armijo was retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools. He is survived by his wife, Matilda Armijo; stepson, Matthew Jaramillo; stepdaughters, Theresa Roach and Catherine Jaramillo; sister-in-law, Ursulita Armijo; special niece, Eva Castillo; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Armijo will be held on Tuesday at the Ascension Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. Ed Savilla officiating. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. DAV Chapter 3 will provide the miliary honors. Bridge -- Alberta A. Bridge, 90, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 23, 2001. She was a long time resident of Socorro before moving to Albuquerque in 1995. Mrs. Bridge is survived by her son, Paul Bridge and wife, Lela of Albuquerque; twin daughters, Geraldine O¯Connell and husband, John of Moriarty and Patricia Preston and husband, Jack of New Laguna; daughter-in-law, Jane Bridge of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren, Jimmy Bridge, Sandra Bridge Reid, Kelly Bridge Leatherman, Gay Lynn Bridge Doty, Thomas O'Connell, Rhonda Bridge Buffett, Rebecca Preston Daw, Sharon O'Connell LaCava, Paula Bridge Sichler, Leonard Bridge, Jr., Duane Preston, Jamie O'Connell, Lester Preston and D.J. O'Connell; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genievive Kranz Clements of Roswell and Beatrice Kranz Crume of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by twin daughters, Betty Theodora and Anna Mary; husband, Tommy; son, Leonard, Sr.; parents, Henry and Anastasia Kranz; brothers, Phillip and Leo Kranz; and sisters, Claire Kranz Oracion and Theresa Kranz Jones. Alberta was born in Harbor Beach, MI on February 10, 1911, and moved to New Mexico with her family in 1912 where her father, Henry Kranz was a cement mason and church steeple repairman in Roswell and later a logging and sawmill owner in Pine Lodge. She married Thomas Jefferson Bridge in 1937 in Roswell. They were blessed with six children, three of whom are still living. While in Socorro, Alberta was very active in the Senior and Foster Grandmother Programs for many years. Alberta will be missed by her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 1:30 p.m., at Chester T. Cardell -- Rita Catala Cardell, born June 11, 1917 near Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away on June 23, 2001, her family was blessed to share her final moments. Rita is survived by her granddaughter, Maelen Marie Cardell and by her loving son, Michael and his family, Ede, Karly and Cheyenne. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Chester R. Cardell, who passed away on December 12, 2000. Once again they will be together, as it should be. Rita was very proud of her accomplishments and contributions, including her time as a registered nurse and the many years she spent as executive secretary of the New Mexico Lions Eye Bank. We will all miss her thoughtful caring nature. Our family would like to thank the staff at Manzano Del Sol for all the love they had for Rita; and also, the many people at Kaseman Hospice for all the caring, compassion and guidance through this difficult time. Collins -- Charles E. Collins, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away June 24, 2001. He was born in Tucumcari, NM, the son of Sallie Davenport and Bassett Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Loveall. Charles or"Chuck" is survived by his children, Carolyn Smith and husband, Rick of Fayetteville, AR, Barbara Hanrahan and husband, Gerry of Albuquerque, and Rick Collins of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Katey and Jackie Smith and Connor, Macaelan and Quin Hanrahan. Chuck was a launch coordinator for the Atomic Energy Commission and later the Department of Energy. Davis -- Forest A. Davis, 86, a longtime resident of New Mexico and a resident of Bosque Farms for 31 years, died Saturday, June 23, 2001. He is survived by his two sons, Marion Davis and wife, Helen of Albuquerque and Donald L. Davis and wife, Joann of Bloomfield; one daughter, Betty L. Lakey and husband, Richard of Peralta; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Viola V. Davis. Forest was born August 31, 1914 in Stonewall, OK. He was a member of the Oddfellows and a 32Æ Mason. Mr. Davis joined the Sheet Metal Union Local #49 in 1948 and went to work for the Zia Company of Los Alamos. He left there in 1968. He moved to Bosque Farms and worked for the Henderson Construction Co. until 1973 when he retired. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, 12:00 p.m., at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Dougherty -- Margaret June Stewart Dougherty, age 69, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Valley Memorial Hospital, Pleasanton, CA. She was born August 7, 1931 in Seattle, WA. She moved with her mother, the former Margaret Judith Hall, to Moscow, ID in 1938. Her mother married Hylas M. Stewart. He was the father of two sons, William Albert and Robert Mason, and subsequently adopted Margaret. Margaret graduated from Moscow High School in 1949, and received a BS in Education from the University of Idaho in 1953. She and Robert C. Dougherty were married on June 6, 1953. Robert was a newly commissioned Naval Officer and they made their first home in California where Robert's ship was stationed. She started as an elementary teacher in the San Diego school system. Throughout her career of nearly 30 years she taught primarily in the first and second grades. She loved to teach children and was a strong advocate of basics, primarily reading. As the family moved around, she worked in Moscow, ID, Albuquerque, NM, Livermore, CA, and Dublin, CA. She supported her Alpha Chi Omega sorority and belonged to AAUW. Her hobbies included bridge, reading, gardening, bird watching, camping and travel. Travels with her family took her throughout the US and much of Europe. She was particularly attracted to England. In later years she discovered genealogy and became an avid enthusiast. She belonged to several genealogy clubs. Her research took her across the US and as far away as Ireland. Survivors include her husband of 48 years; her son, Robert Patrick and wife, Wilma Ann of Bellevue, WA; her daughter, Sarah Anne and husband, John Barmen of Elk Grove, IL; her two grandchildren, John Robert Dougherty Barmen and Katherine Margaret Barmen; and her two sisters-in-law, Virginia Stewart and Caroline Stewart. She was preceded in death by her father (1966); mother (1985); and brothers, Robert (1991) and William (1999). Ellison -- Sandra L. Ellison-Carrell, 38, passed away June 22, 2001. Espinosa -- Mrs. Gregoria Espinosa, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 25, 2001 at the age of 88. Mrs. Espinosa was a member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Gil O. Salazar and Fernando Espinosa; and daughters, Flora Garcia and husband, Perfecto, Frances Serna and husband, Tony, Betty Lopez and husband, Heriberto, Elba De Luna and husband, Higinio, and Margaret Lucero and husband, Castulo Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Alcario Jaramillo; sister, Agripina Mares; 45 grandchildren; and 200 great-grandchildren. Gilbert -- Sally R. Gilbert, 67, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died Sunday, June 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Roger Gilbert of Albuquerque; sons, Michael Emillio of Albuquerque and Donald Emillio of Dallas, TX; daughter, Kathryn Bowles of Denver, CO; six grandsons; one great-grandson; and brother, Gene Russau of Massachusetts. Sally was preceded in death by her sister. She operated Gilberts Ornamental Metals with her husband, Roger for 32 years. Harrison -- Charlie O. Harrison, 75, passed away on June 24, 2001. He was preceded by his loving wife of 42 years, Corine Harrison; and his brother, Ray Harrison of Pueblo Colorado. A devoted father and grandpa, he is survived by his daughters, Virginia Harrison, Jeanette Torres and husband, Danny, Loretta Gurule and husband, Al; grandchildren, Robert Sanchez and wife, Stella, Melissa Garcia and husband, Tom, Kimberly and Kevin Torres, Jennifer Harrison, Alisha, Dominic, Matthew and Avery Gurule; great-grandchildren, Amanda and James Garcia, Alisia and Steven Sanchez; sister-in-law, Sophie Harrison from Pueblo Colorado; brothers, Arthur Harrison and wife, Martha, Albert Harrison and wife, Rosie; sister, Linda Ortiz and husband, Pete; and five other brothers and sisters. Charlie was a proud World War II Veteran that served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He is also a member of the American Legion. He retired after working for 40 years as a manager with Sherwin Williams Paint Store. Charlie was a very devoted Catholic at the Nativity Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher for many years. Huffman -- James "Lewie" (Papa) Huffman, 100, a resident of Albuquerque since 1930, passed away peacefully with family at his side. Born in Kirbyville, TX, he was the youngest of nine children born to Frances and Millard Huffman. Mr. Huffman is survived by his son, James L. Huffman Jr. and wife, Sally of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Carol Zimmerman and husband, Roy of N. Ogden, UT; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous friends. "Papa" lived at his home with his granddaughter, Kari Biernacki and husband, Buzz. His homecare during the day was lovingly provided by Nancy Oldfield and Nannette Macias-Ray. Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Delphia; and son, Ronald. In 1930, he entered an apprenticeship program and began working for the Albuquerque Journal/Tribune as a Stereo-typer and retired 42 years later. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend he exemplified the values of family and kindness each day of his life. Despite being over 100 years old he enjoyed traveling, visiting and reminiscing. He often shared stories of watching Babe Ruth play baseball, meeting "Pretty-boy" Floyd, and hearing about the Titanic the day it sank. He loved meeting new people and having them try to guess how old he was. After they guessed once or twice, his eyes would twinkle and he would tell them he was over 100. His smile and warmth will be missed. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Mr. John Hunt officiating. Learsch -- Louis Herman Martin Learsch, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, June 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Learsch of Albuquerque; nephew, Robert C. Learsch of Boise, ID; niece, Liesa Denardo of Oakland, NJ; and four great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Learsch. Mr. Learsch was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Cornerstone-Tyrian Masonic Lodge in Linden, NJ; the Valley of Trenton Scottish Rite, New Jersey; and the Ballut Abyad Temple in Albuquerque. Lookabill -- Rosetta Lookabill, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2001. She is survived by her sisters, Cecilia P. Conner of Albuquerque, NM, Theresa Kelly of Council Bluffs, IA, and Maureen De Masters and husband, Robert of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, John Mullen and wife, Velma of Albuquerque, NM. Loy -- Arthur Edson Loy, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Henrietta Loy of the family home; children, Laura Loy Dennison of Centennial, CO and husband, Dan Dennison and David Edson Loy of Fremont, CA and wife, Laura Morgan Loy; grandchildren, Fletcher Dennison, Benjamin Loy and Rebecca Loy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Edson Loy and Helen Opperman. Arthur came to Albuquerque in 1930. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1932, received his B. Ed. at the University of New Mexico in 1938, and his Masters¯ in musicology at Berkeley in 1949. Arthur served in the Army during World War II. He taught for 39 years in the Albuquerque Public Schools at Washington and Jefferson Junior High Schools, and at Highland High School, where he was chairman of the fine arts department and taught humanities, choral music and music theory. He retired in 1977. Very active in Albuquerque music circles, he had been a member of the boards of the June Music Festival, Albuquerque Symphony, and KHFM. He was a founding member and original program director of this classical music radio station in 1953. He had a deep appreciation for nature and the environment, taking many photographs to support the establishment of wilderness areas in New Mexico. In addition, he used his skills as a photographer to create a complete, statewide pictorial archive of historic and contemporary churches. He also delighted in writing poetry and satirical articles. Arthur enjoyed camping, picnicking and hiking. With a good friend and hiking companion, he discovered in 1979 the fossilized remains of a new species of dinosaur, seismosaurus (the longest dinosaur ever discovered) that is on display at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2001, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, Claremont and Vermont Streets, with reception following at the Loy¯s residence. Mattson -- John Benhard Mattson, Jr., 70, an Industrial Engineer at the Postal Rate Commission from 1976 until his retirement in 2000, died of a heart attack on June 22, 2001 at his home in Rockville, Md. Mr. Mattson, a native of Newton, Mass., received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science Degree from the University of New Mexico, and Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1962. A member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, he served as a lst Lieutenant in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and later worked for ACF Industries in Albuquerque, N.M., his adopted state, where he also served two terms as a Republican legislator for District 14. In 1968, Mr. Mattson co-founded Mecca Computer Systems, Inc., and served as its president until relocating to the Washington, D.C., area in 1976. Mr. Mattson was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Rockville where he participated in the"Russia Initiative" of the UM Volunteers-in-Mission program, participating in reconstruction and social outreach work trips to Vladimir, Russia, as well as Christmas in April and other community activities. Survivors include Nancy Wilburn Mattson, his wife of 42 years; three sons, John Edward, Thomas Michael, (Angela Livers) and Robert Wilburn, (Marvionni); and five grandchildren, Micailya, Alexzondra, Darius, Mackenzie, and Nicholas; he is also survived by one brother, Melvin Mattson (Christa); and two sisters, Muriel Kulow (Frederick) and Lynne Knauss (John). The family will receive friends at Pumphrey's Funeral Home, 300 West Montgomery Avenue, Rockville, MD. on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church in Rockville, Md., at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2001. Mccollum -- Mrs. Marie M. McCollum, 58, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 22, 2001. Mrs. McCollum is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Marie Martinez and husband, Armando, Cynthia Annette McCollum and DeAnna Lynn Wells and husband, Nick; two sons, Steven Edward McCollum and wife, Marlene and Michael Oliver McCollum and wife, Donna; her parents, Oliver and Marie Lasby; two half-sisters, Jill and Phyllis; two half brothers, Jackie and Roger; 11 grandchildren, Desiree, Mitchell, Jessica, Raymond, Caitlin, Mark, Alaina, Dustin, Robert, Lorrieshell and Brittany; and stepmother, Jan Faylkner. Mrs. McCollum was a Veteran of the United States Army. Cremation has taken place. Private disposition will take place at a later time. Moralez -- Raymond "Shorty" Moralez, 48, a long time resident of Albuquerque, was called home to his Heavenly Father on June 19, 2001. He was a skilled carpenter who loved his trade. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Josephine Moralez; brother, Tommy; and sister, Margaret. Raymond is survived by his wife, Carolina Moralez; sons, Raymond Moralez of Albuquerque, Tomas Moralez of North Carolina, Roberto Aguirre and wife, Emma of Albuquerque; daughter, Andrea Moralez of Amarillo, TX; three brothers, Miguel Moralez and wife, Lydia of Moriarty, David Moralez of Albuquerque, Manuel Moralez and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque; five sisters, Dolores Mata of Amarillo, TX Juanita Ramirez of Logan, NM, Julia Chacon and husband, Manuel of Amarillo, TX, Florence Ortiz and husband, Raymundo of Amarillo, TX, Agnes Hernandez and husband, Ernesto of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 29, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at San Antonio Church in Logan, NM. Ostlie -- Gertrude "Gertie" Ostlie, 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 21, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Robert ¯Bob¯ Ostlie and Jim Ostlie and wife, Judy, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ostlie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ostlie; daughter, June Ostlie; and son, Charles Ostlie. She was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church. Gertrude was an example of living her life to the fullest. She loved her Lord, fishing, traveling and her church family. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson Blvd. NE, with Rev. Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Padilla -- Benjamin "Benny" J. Padilla, 80, who was a residence of Bosque, NM passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2001 at his home. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Benny retired from the City of Albuquerque Water Department in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorencita in 1996; one son, Danny Baca; two brothers, Severo and Stanley Padilla; two nephews, Larry and Eloy Padilla; and one niece, Lucy Padilla. Benny is survived by two daughters, Rose Gomez of Los Lunas and Geraldine Hererra; two sons, Eliseo and Danny Baca, all of Albuquerque; thirteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Ernesto Padilla of Jarales and Cayetano and his wife, Mary of Belen; and one sister, Petrita Tafoya of Belen. Benny is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Parkins -- Willard Parkins, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1992, died on Saturday, June 23, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Suzann Kisiel and husband, Walter of Albuquerque and Kay Kovacs and husband, George of Irwin, PA; granddaughters, Karen Kovacs and Kimberly Kovacs of Philadelphia and Katherine Kisiel of Austin, TX; grandson, Kevin Kisiel of Ann Arbor, MI; his loving companion of nine years, Barbara Steinberg of Albuquerque; brothers, Don Parkins and wife, Shirley of Stuart, FL and Bud Parkins and wife, Betty of McMurray, PA; and sister, Thelma Hallam of Indiana. Willard was a very avid golfer who loved to play at Los Altos and had several hole-in-ones during his lifetime. He also enjoyed playing bridge and woodworking. Memorial Services will be held in Irwin, Pennsylvania at a later date. Mr. Parkins will be interred next to his devoted wife of 53 years, Jessie Parkins, in Pennsylvania.

Pickeral -- Glenn L.M. Pickeral, 47, of New Port Richey, FL, died Saturday, June 23, 2001 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born and raised in Trenton, NJ and had lived in New Port Richey for the last three years, moving from Albuquerque. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served a mission to the Islands of Tonga. A distinguished Air Force Veteran he was employed as a Manager of IT Administration at Eckerd Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Lauren; children, Kyle, Kelly, Klane, Kaelyn and Kristy all of New Port Richey, FL; his mother, Sonya; one sister, Nancy Padova; two brothers, Jerry Pickeral, New Port Richey, Robert Utter, Jacksonville, FL; and one granddaughter, Renee Baca. Pulliam -- Oma Racheal Pulliam died on June 23, 2001 in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born in 1913 in Corbin, KY and had lived in Truth or Consequences, NM where she worked as a nurse at St. Ann's Hospital before retiring and moving to Rio Rancho 15 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyce Pulliam in 1971; by a daughter, Willa Chavez in 1984; and by a son, Boyd Teague in 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Lois Lopez and husband, John of McIntosh, NM; and by six grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Stratton -- Rebecca J. Stratton, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, died on Friday, June 15, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Stratton; daughters, Donna Sue Stratton of Albuquerque and Lucinda Balgooyen of Chico, CA; two grandchildren, brother, George Jones and sisters, Mabel Connor and Marjorie Thompson. She was a very well known artist particularly in the New York area and was prominent in art circles. Rebecca won many awards for her painting compositions, winning 1st place nationally. She worked ten years as advertising manager for Koos Brothers, which was the largest furniture store on the east coast. She even designed furniture as well. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, 2:00p.m. at Carter Hall at LaVida Llena, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, with Chaplin Norton Scrimshine and The Very Rev. John B. Haverland, officiating. Burial was held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday.
