Apodaca -- Mr. Salomon A. Apodaca died Thursday in Albuquerque at the age of 69. Mr. Apodaca is survived by his wife, Elma Apodaca; sons, Albert A. Apodaca and wife, Stephanie, and Daniel S. Apodaca; brothers, Ernest Apodaca and Leo Apodaca; sisters, Everley Garcia, Bella Toledo and Alice Torres; and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Apodaca were held on Monday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial took place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Cordova, Joseph Cordova, Nestor Torres, Mark Toledo, Tito Padilla and Willie Padilla. A Rosary was recited on Sunday evening at the Holy Rosary Church. The family of Mr. Apodaca wishes to thank all their relatives and friends who were in attendance of the Rosary and Funeral services. Baumgartner -- Sarah"Gig" Krakow Baumgartner died Sunday, August 22, 1999. Sarah was born in Davenport, IA, May 6, 1929. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for 51 years. Sarah is survived by her husband, Richard Baumgartner of the family home; daughter, Patsy; sons, David and Bruce; granddaughter, Alexis; and brother, Roger Krakow and wife, Sally. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred and Kenneth Krakow. Sarah graduated from Stephens College and the University of New Mexico where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was an active volunteer, recently serving 15 years as a member of the Board of Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center. She actively enjoyed sports, including tennis, golf and swimming. Sarah wished to thank her many friends who contributed so much to her joy in life. She asked that her friends with whom she regularly played golf to dedicate one fun round to her memory. A private graveside service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Please, no flowers. Brown -- Ernest C. Brown, 87, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, August 21, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Brown of 67 years; son, David C. Brown and wife, Louise of Flagstaff, AZ; granddaughters, Leslie Jean Forman and husband, Garth of Chicago and Jennifer Ann Brown of Flagstaff, AZ. Mr. Brown was a lifetime member of the Associated Contractors of New Mexico and served as President of the organization in 1977. He was also a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E., Elks Lodge No. 461, and was a longtime member of the 51-ers. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Brown -- Mr. Brown passed away Sunday, August 22, 1999 at a local care home in Topeka, Kansas. Glenn Franklin (Brownie) Brown was born October 25, 1909 in Emporia, Kansas, the eldest son of Frank Alvin Brown and Viola Cornelia (Chambers) Brown. He graduated from Miller High School, attended the College of Emporia, and was graduated from the Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University) in 1934, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He later studied at Stout University, Menomonie, Wisconsin. He married Florence Irene Guile in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, September 17, 1932. She survives. Mr. Brown was a teacher and coach at Melvern, Pomona and Mt. Hope, Kansas, high schools and in 1938 became Head of the Building Trades Department of the Argentine Vocational High School in Kansas City, Kansas. He joined the staff of Haskell Institute (now Haskell Indian Nations University) in Lawrence, Kansas in 1948, where he served as Head of the Vocational Department. In 1955, Mr. Brown transferred to the Albuquerque, New Mexico Area Construction Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and was Plant Manager of the 18 Indian Pueblos along the Rio Grande at the time of his retirement in 1972. Mr. Brown served in World War II in the Navy in both the Pacific and in the Aleutian Islands areas. He also served in the Korean Conflict as a Chief Petty Officer in the Seabees. Mr. Brown was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque for 40 years and a Mason for 50 years. He was a member of Temple Lodge #6, AF&AM, Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, both of Albuquerque, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Santa Fe, NM. He was one of the early New Mexico members of the National Federation of Retired Federal Employees and a member of Elks Lodge #461 and Kiwanis for many years. He was presented a Meritorious Service Award by the Department of the Interior upon his retirement. In 1991, he was honored to be named an Outstanding Citizen of Albuquerque by Woodmen of America for his contribution to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, having given some 80 hours of volunteer work each month for ten years to"The Storehouse." Mr. Brown was an ardent fisherman and was always greatly interested in sports, having played on championship football teams both at the College of Emporia and Kansas State Teachers College. He enjoyed coaching and coached a number of winning high school football and basketball teams. He was an enthusiastic traveler, and with his wife, traveled extensively, both abroad and in the United States. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry C. Brown, Dallas, TX, Wayne L. Brown, Descanso, CA; and one nephew, Robert Brown, Dallas, TX. He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Irene Hobbs and husband, Doran of Topeka, KS, Carol Florence Hunte and husband, James of Silver City, NM; one brother, Ernest G. Brown and wife, Jenny of Goleta, CA; two sisters-in-law, Melvina Brown, Dallas, TX and Dorothy Brown, Descanso, CA; one nephew, Richard Brown, Saugus, CA; two nieces, Kathryn White, Plano, TX and Evelyn Hammar, Goleta, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be tendered to the Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 and to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Transportation Fund, c/o Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, 6600 Zuni Road SE, Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Brown was cremated. No services are planned. Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 4020 S.W. Sixth Avenue, Topeka, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements. Interment of cremains will be at the Santa Fe National Military Cemetery at Santa Fe, NM.

Cordova -- Sr. Mary Marcella Cordova S.S.M., 73, died Saturday, August 21, 1999. Born in Albuquerque. Entered into the Congregation of Sister of Sorrowful Mother, July 24, 1940, in Milwaukee, WI. Her whole life was devoted to teaching and pastoral ministry. Having taught for over 20 years in Kansas, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Minnesota and California. Director of religious Education in New Mexico from 1983 to 1988. Served in pastoral ministry since 1990 in Albuquerque. From 1997 she served as pastoral Minister at Bartlett Hospital in Sapulpa, OK. Survived by her mother, Mrs. Deborah Cordova de Pena; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Elizabeth Cordova Jr.; sister, Bernadette Padilla, all of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother; and sister. A Religious Wake and Prayer service was held Monday evening at Our Lady of Sorrowful Mother Convent Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 24, 1999, 10:00 a.m., also at the Convent Chapel with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa, OK. Dalton -- Mary Ann Duke Dalton, 76, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 22, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Dalton of Albuquerque; son, Mark Dalton and wife, Lisa of Tulsa, Ok; daughter, Anne Duke Dalton Leonard and husband, Dan of San Antonio, TX; brother, James W. Duke of Indianapolis, IN; and four grandchildren, Dana Kristine Leonard, Lauren Nicole Leonard, Mallory Leigh Dalton and Benjamin Thomas Dalton. Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gertrude Duke of Hot Springs, AR; and brother, Harold Duke Jr. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity since 1944. Dill -- Willard G. Dill, 84, passed away at home on August 21, 1999. He was born in Nickerson, KS on November 6, 1914 and married Arleta Erhart in 1936 in Independence, KS, worked as a pipe fitter foreman in Kasier ship yard on aircraft carriers in Vancouver, WA during WWII, moved to Albuquerque in 1959 where he worked in the plumbing trade. He was preceded in death by daughter, Susan Diane Dill; sisters, Alice Lindsay, Winfred Gregg; and brother, Ernest States. He is survived by wife, Arleta Dill; children, Duane Dill and wife, Margaret, Dwight Dill and wife, Sharon, Kenneth Dill and wife, Jane, Cindy Lewis and husband, Wayne; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; brother, Earl Dill and wife, Beulah of Valley Center, KS; and numerous family and friends who will miss him. Mclaughlin -- Dolores"Lona" McLaughlin, 47, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family. Lona attended Queen of Heaven School and graduated from Sandia High School in 1970. She enjoyed making Christmas crafts, outdoor activities, fishing, camping, picnics with her family, and riding with her husband on their Harleys. She always looked forward to holidays with her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Norbert and Otilia Montoya. Mink -- Theodora E. Mink, 89, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 21, 1999. Mom was a shining light and filled our lives with much joy and happiness. We love her and will miss her very much. Montano -- Ernest Martinez Montano, a child and inheritor of our Savior, Jesus Christ, son of Jose and Anita Montano, husband of Mela, Daddy to Gloria Ann Clute, Isidro (Sid) Ernest Montano, Esther Mary Vera, Angeline (Angie) Nerline Carbajal, Marilyn Pauline Jaramillo, Daniel (Danny) Lawrence Montano, and Cassandra (Sandy) Nadine Montano, left earth and arrived in Heaven on August 22, 1999--he was 72. Ernie was born and raised in Magdalena, NM. He was a self-taught man of many talents; to mention a few, he was a former police officer, mechanic, builder, roofer, plumber, and a maker of cabinets and furniture. He had a soft walk, a gentle demeanor, and a kind and compassionate spirit. Ernest whom adored his 12 grandchildren, Michael, Tiffanie, Kelly and Matthew Clute, Alissa, Cynthia and Jennifer Lynn Montano, John and Shannon Barba, J.Lea R. Vera, Brian Carbajal and Taylar Jaramillo, prayed that they would always seek and walk with the Lord--and his eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Dylan, Trenton, Jonathan, Nichole, Natasha, Danielle, and a yet to be known grandson, he stood before them as a giant of the man he was. Ernest also leaves behind two sisters, Anita Carrillo of Norwalk, CA, Frances Sanchez of Los Lunas; and a brother, Lino Montano of Albuquerque; his daughter-in-law, Evelyn Montano; his two sons-in-law, Dan Clute and Delbert Jaramillo; four sisters-in-law, Betty Montano, Onice Montano, Clorinda Montano, and Rita Montoya; three brothers-in-law, Santiago Carrillo, Eloy Sanchez and Fidencio Montoya. His legacy also lives on through his nieces and nephews to whom he was a surrogate father to many. Willie Chavez, Michael Clute, Matthew Clute, Brian Carbajal, John Barba and Dick Carbajal were honored to act as pallbearers. As we stood looking out at the horizon and shouted--"There he goes"--on the other side stood Jesus and His mighty Angels exclaiming--"Here he comes." There will be a visitation on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Nutting -- Donald"Don" F. Nutting, 51, a resident of Albuquerque for 12 years, died peacefully Saturday, August 21, 1999 surrounded by his family members. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Nutting; son, Donald W. Nutting; daughter, Erica Encinias and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Trevor and Tiemey; and his mother, Winifred Nutting, all of Albuquerque. Don moved to Albuquerque in 1987 to manage KKJY Radio Station. In 1991, along with two partners, he started"Prime Time" newspaper. In 1997, he and his partner, Sid Fendley, opened Mountain Road Recording Studio. Don was known locally and nationally for commercial and radio voice over work, as well as being the announcer for Channel 13 and RECA Better Homes & Gardens Home Show. He served as President of the New England Broadcaster's Association, sat on the National Board of Broadcasters, and after moving to Albuquerque, became President of the Albuquerque Broadcaster's Association. Don was the youngest person to interview The Beatles on his radio talk show in New Jersey. Don also began the first charitable campaign for Joy Junction. He helped begin the 24 hour prayer line at Hoffmantown Church and also assisted in opening the Bernalillo Soccer Complex and many other functions involving children. His hobbies were photography, traveling, music, woodworking and soccer. he belonged to the International Brotherhood of Magic. Don enjoyed making people laugh and he was a"living angel." She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, a former member of the Quincy Fire Department; son, Bruce Duane; and four brothers, Lewis, William, Harold and Walter (Jack). Mrs. Oliver was born July 11, 1906 in Quincy, IL. She was the daughter of Theodore and Mary Mines. She married Glenn W. Oliver on May 8, 1928 in Quincy. He died on January 20, 1980. Mrs. Oliver lived in Quincy until 1992, when she moved to New Mexico to be close to her son and family. She enjoyed music and loved to read and write beautiful poetry. Mrs. Oliver was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 60 years, an active member of the Phoebian Class, and had previously served as a deaconess of the church. Pogzeba -- Elizabeth (Elsa) Maria Wieber Pogzeba, of Santa Fe, died Monday, August 16, 1999 at Casa Real Care Center of Santa Fe. She was born October 1, 1901 in Uniontown, Washington, to George and Mary Wieber. She was one of ten children. She attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington and then went on to study voice and piano in New York City. She auditioned for the German Opera in Dresden and performed with the Dresden Opera until the bombing of Dresden in 1945. At that time she returned to the United States, living in Montana for about ten years. She married John Pogzeba, August 16, 1961. He was an art restorer and artist. Mrs. Pogzeba was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will take place at Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 1999. Roland -- Clara Arlene Roland, age 69, of Milan, NM, passed away at her home, Saturday, August 21. Mrs. Roland was born March 29, 1930 in Alliance, Nebraska to John Joseph Brennan and Palos Susan Brennan. Survivors include her husband, Joe Roland of Milan, NM; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Christensen of Albuquerque; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Karen Christensen of Mifflinburg, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Pat Magirl of Lake Jackson, TX; and six grandchildren. Parents, John and Palos Brennan; brothers, Jack and Frank Brennan; and sister, Betty Phillips preceded her in death. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Baptist Church, 518 Valencia St., Milan, NM, with Rev. Garland Moore officiating. Interment of the cremains will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, August 26 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Saiz -- Adelina (Lena) O. Saiz, age 79, passed away August 22, 1999. She was preceded in death by her sister, Estefanita Muniz. She is survived by two sons, John O. Silva and Ray"Huskle" Chavez and wife, Roxanne; two daughters, Adela Santora and husband, Joe and Frances Trujillo and husband, Tony; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Ophilia Olguin. Adelina will be missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held today, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow morning, 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Swiggart -- Ruth Bibo Swiggart, of Santa Fe, died August 23, 1999 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Stamford, Texas on August 16, 1912, having lived for 87 years. Ruth taught elementary school for many years in Santa Fe, then retired to open a boutique downtown. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Ford; a son, Thomas and his wife, Janice of Santa Fe; granddaughter, Jennifer Ford Diaz and her husband, Ernesto; and great-grandchildren, Tomas and Miranda of Glendale, CA; and a grandson, Thomas Ford of Austin, TX. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Grace Floyd of Blanket, TX. There are also many other family and friends too lengthy to list. Arrangements are being handled by the McGee Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by a service at the chapel on August 26, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Youngblood -- Margaret May (Tatum), 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, passed away on August 14, 1999. Margie was born October 7, 1912, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, to James and Della Tatum, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Kenneth Tatum; and her sister, Dorothy Garretson. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Y. Cisneros of San Antonio, TX, Sandra Rice Youngblood of Phoenix, AZ, Nat H. Youngblood of Albuquerque; daughter-in-law, Martha Youngblood; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in Art. She was a member of the Albuquerque Garden Club, the American Association of University Women, and Sombra del Monte Christian Church. Margie was a kind and caring spirit who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28 at Sombra del Monte Church, 2528 Utah Street NE.
