Obituary for Pogzeba

Elizabeth (Elsa) Maria Wieber Pogzeba, of Santa Fe, died Monday, August 16, 1999 at Casa Real Care Center of Santa Fe. She was born October 1, 1901 in Uniontown, Washington, to George and Mary Wieber. She was one of ten children. She attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington and then went on to study voice and piano in New York City. She auditioned for the German Opera in Dresden and performed with the Dresden Opera until the bombing of Dresden in 1945. At that time she returned to the United States, living in Montana for about ten years. She married John Pogzeba, August 16, 1961. He was an art restorer and artist. Mrs. Pogzeba was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will take place at Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 1999.
