Sr. Mary Marcella Cordova S.S.M., 73, died Saturday, August 21, 1999. Born in Albuquerque. Entered into the Congregation of Sister of Sorrowful Mother, July 24, 1940, in Milwaukee, WI. Her whole life was devoted to teaching and pastoral ministry. Having taught for over 20 years in Kansas, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Minnesota and California. Director of religious Education in New Mexico from 1983 to 1988. Served in pastoral ministry since 1990 in Albuquerque. From 1997 she served as pastoral Minister at Bartlett Hospital in Sapulpa, OK. Survived by her mother, Mrs. Deborah Cordova de Pena; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Elizabeth Cordova Jr.; sister, Bernadette Padilla, all of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother; and sister. A Religious Wake and Prayer service was held Monday evening at Our Lady of Sorrowful Mother Convent Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 24, 1999, 10:00 a.m., also at the Convent Chapel with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa, OK.
