Baca -- Mrs. Felicita Baca, 98, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on May 10, 1999. Mrs. Baca was the beloved mother of three daughters, Mary Escobedo of Phoenix, AZ and Stella Barela of Phoenix, AZ and Felicita Lucero; 33 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 91 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; the spouses of the many grand and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Baca was a member of the Aposento Alto Church and occasionally of Victory Outreach Church. She was a member of the Community of Barelas since 1935 and enjoyed her friends and activities at the Barelas Community Center. She loved her family dearly, being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. She loved the children and youth in the neighborhood and they knew her as Gran-ma. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Baca; her sons, Emilio Baca Jr., and Don Baca; a daughter, Alice Sanchez; grandson, David Lucero; a sister, Stella Baca; and a granddaughter, Mary Jean Escobedo. A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Victory Outreach Church, 933 Sunset Rd. S.W., with visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Pastor Ruben Guajardo Sr., Pastor Dan Sanchez and Pastor Danny Sanchez officiating the services. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be, Max Sanchez, George Lucero, Frank Barela, Simon Escobedo Jr., Robert Escobedo and Eddie Baca. Honorary will be Don Baca Jr., and Jimmy Baca. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.

Lucero -- Sariah Lynne Lucero, 17 months old, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 9, 1999. She is survived by her parents, Raul and Denae Lucero; brothers, Joshua Jay Lucero and Marc Anthony Lucero, all of the family home; maternal grandparents, Fred and Joyce Anderson of Edgewood; paternal grandmother, Virginia Roybal of Albuquerque; paternal grandfather, Simon Vigil of Clovis; maternal great-grandmother, Luceille Reed of Payette, ID; paternal great-grandparents, Patrick and Elisia Lucero of Edgewood; and many loving family members. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3rd Ward, 8130 Sage Blvd. SW, with Bishop Clayton Lowe presiding. Interment will follow at Stanley Cemetery, Stanley, NM. Pallbearers will be Jerry Jay Anderson and Vincent Eugene Vigil. Adams -- Meira Adams died in St. Joseph's Hospital on Friday, March 12, 1999. She was born November 20, 1946 in Brighton, Sussex, England. She is survived by her mother, Adelaide Underwood and her brother, Simon Thomas Underwood, both of Brighton. Meira's life was a triumph of action over adversity, and a journey of overcoming challenges. Beginning at age 17, she traveled in South Africa, Europe and the U.S. as a professional ice skater. At 21, she moved to the United States, and was grated U.S. Citizenship in 1998. She attended the University of Oklahoma, College of Dentistry, and also received a certificate for teaching ballet. She won numerous awards for dance, most recently for a performance in the Senior Olympics. During the past two years, she volunteer-taught ballet at the Hayden School of Ballet. She came to Albuquerque in the late 1970's and finished a BS in Psychology at the University of New Mexico. Two years ago she earned a Certificate in Exercise Physiology from T-VI. In 1998 she celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in the Jewish tradition. She was active as a volunteer at Congregation B-nai Israel. Meira loved animals and was active with the Sandia Dog Obedience Club. She leaves behind two beloved Scotties who will go to a new home together. Meira will be remembered by those who knew her well for her courage, her tenacity and her perseverance against all odds. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful daughter and sister. Services will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, Rabbi Isaac Celnik officiating. Yarasheski -- Kyle Paul Yarasheski was born in Colorado Springs and moved to Albuquerque when he was a year old. He attended Mitchell grade school and Hoover Middle School. Weaver -- Walter Lee"Walt" Weaver, Jr. 53, born in Columbus, Ohio and longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas and a resident of Albuquerque since 1973 passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3., 1999 in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Weaver; one daughter, Amy Celeste Weaver, graduate student at Notre Dame University; two sons, Derrek Ryan Weaver, law student at Texas Tech, and Dustin Kyle Weaver, freshman at Texas A&M, his father and step-mother, Walter Lee and Florence Weaver, FL and Aussie son, Simon Ogilvie of Australia plus many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Olive Weaver. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He loved his family and his profession and was known as the worlds greatest husband, father and landscape architect. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to share and teach his children and friends how to hunt and fish. He was a history buff and loved the southwest. He was a graduate of Texas A&M, class of 1968. He served as an officer in the US Army. He was instrumental in creating successful businesses relating to the landscaping industry, including Walter Weaver Inc. and Albuquerque Grounds Maintenance, Inc. Walt's courage these past three years in his battle with Cancer was an inspiration to his family and friends. His charm and sense of humor and gorgeous blue eyes, will be greatly missed by his family and numerous loving friends. Duffy -- Betty Carter Duffy, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998. She was born November 23, 1913 in Galveston, TX to Louise Brand Carter and Samuel Russell Carter. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Amarillo, TX in 1929 and worked for two years for a doctor in Clovis, NM before going to Boston, MA on a voice scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music. Due to illness in the family she soon had to return to Clovis where she stayed briefly before moving to New York City to Work at Columbia University Hospital and for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon her return to New Mexico she worked in Santa Fe for the New Mexico State Dept. of Education during World War II. She was appointed a Col. Aide de Camp in the National Guard Auxiliary. While in Santa Fe, she met young Army Air crops officer from New York who was stationed at Sandia Base named Edward Duffy while she was performing during the Fiesta as"the Blonde Senorita". When Archbishop Gerken passed away she was specially requested to sing as he lie in state at St. Francis Cathedral. After the War Ed returned to New Mexico and he and Betty married in June 1947 at the Cathedral. after spending 20 years lovingly raising her four children she went back to work at the University of New Mexico Medical School in the Dept. of Neurology, where she worked with stroke patients with speech difficulties and later was office manager for the Regional Medical Program in its early years. Following her retirement, she studied French traveled extensively with Ed to Europe, Asia, Alaska, and throughout the US and Canada to visit their many friends and family. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream and began composing crossword puzzles which were published in many publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and several Simon & Schuster Crossword books. She spent many happy hours working crossword puzzles, always loving a good challenge and dearly loved spending time with her friends playing bridge. Perhaps her greatest joy in life, however, came from sharing in the lives of her children and their families. Nothing gave her more happiness than baby-sitting for their grandchildren. She faced her final challenge with grace and courage and will be terribly missed by all who were privileged to know her. Her family is particularly grateful to the many loving caregivers and residents and their family members at The Green Project who shared her final days. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward Thomas Duffy and their children, Robert and his wife, Jennie and their children, Emily, Meredith and Andy of Houston, TX, Julie and her husband, Charlie Brown and their children, Rachel and Scott of Albuquerque, Thomas and his wife, Pauline and their son, Liam of Vienna, VA, and Richard and his wife, Deborah and their children, Hannah, Joseph, Caroline and Margaret of Cabin John, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Cahill of Seattle, WA and brother, Sam Carter of Albuquerque, as well as numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, many of whom she gladly and lovingly"mothered" at different times in their lives. We cherish the time we had with her; she will be dearly missed. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 28, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Reverend Francis Eggert will officiate.
