She was preceded in death by her husband, Cassie Martinez; and her grandson, Adrian Abeyta. She is survived by a sister, Beatrice Fierro; four brothers, Javier, Armando, Juan and Raymond Estrada. She is survived by a son, Stephen Charles Martinez and his wife, Katherine; a daughter, Yvonne Abeyta and her husband, Alex Abeyta Jr.; her grandchildren, Stephen Martinez Jr., Kacey Martinez, Lisa Abeyta Sanchez, Lucinda Crowley, Alex Abeyta III, Stephanie Lovato; and seven great-grandchildren. Andrews -- Charles L. Andrews Jr., 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Tuesday, may 11, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Willene of the family home; sons, Mike Andrews and wife, Stanlie of Albuquerque, and Andy Andrews and wife, Sandi of Mission Viejo, CA; daughter, Connie Collis and husband, David of San Ysidro, NM; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Ollie Griffith and husband, Jack of Las Cruces; and brother, Ed Andrews and wife, Alene of Las Cruces. Services will be held Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Paul Gleason officiating. Apodaca -- Mrs. Toni Annette Apodaca, 38, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 8, 1999. Toni was the beloved wife of 17 years to Steve Apodaca. She is also survived by her mother and step-father, Mary Lou Silva and husband, Chelo; father and step-mother, Manuel Baldonado and wife, Lou-Dell; sisters, Aciana Silva and fiance, Steve Trujillo and Adelaida Baldonado; brothers, Daniel Baldonado and wife, Diana, Manuel E. Baldonado Jr. and wife, Virginia, Patrick Baldonado and wife, Irene, Adam J. Baldonado and wife, Lenore of Las Vegas, NV, and Jared Baldonado; grandparents, Arturo and Maggie Ortiz and Antonia Baldonado; aunt, Bernice Sanchez and husband, Fred; uncles, Arthur J. Baca -- Aurelio"Abie" Baca, 47, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, May 7, 1999. He was born on January 18, 1952 to Lalo and Gabrelita Baca. Baca -- Julio Baca, a resident of Bosque, passed away on May 8, 1999. Julio was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Julio served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as the head mechanic at Baca Auto Sales for 42 years. Julio was preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Maria Baca; two brothers, Rudy and Jose; one sister, Christina Gomez; and one brother-in-law, Mike Vallejos. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 42 years of the family home in Bosque, NM; his children, Alan and his wife, Rose Mary Baca of Tome, Elaine Aragon and her husband, Art of Bosque, Wayne Baca and his wife, Dora of Belen; grandchildren, Bernadette, Sarah, Joshua, Justine, Erminia Marie, J. Baca -- Mrs. Felicita Baca, 98, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on May 10, 1999. Mrs. Baca was the beloved mother of three daughters, Mary Escobedo of Phoenix, AZ and Stella Barela of Phoenix, AZ and Felicita Lucero; 33 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 91 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; the spouses of the many grand and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Baca was a member of the Aposento Alto Church and occasionally of Victory Outreach Church. She was a member of the Community of Barelas since 1935 and enjoyed her friends and activities at the Barelas Community Center. She loved her family dearly, being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. She loved the children and youth in the neighborhood and they knew her as Gran-ma. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Baca; her sons, Emilio Baca Jr., and Don Baca; a daughter, Alice Sanchez; grandson, David Lucero; a sister, Stella Baca; and a granddaughter, Mary Jean Escobedo. A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. Barreras -- Flora L. Barreras, age 92, passed away at her home in La Bajada on May 9, 1999. She was born to Cipriano and Guadalupe Lucero in Cerrillos, NM on September 16, 1906. She is survived by son, Henry L. Barreras; brothers, Joe A., Abad E., and Arnold Lucero; sister, Aurora Griego; grandchildren, Robert A. and Bruce G. Barreras, Evangeline Tinajero, Carol McMillan, Terri Molina, Richard D. and Arthur D. Barbosa; great-grandchildren, Darrin N. Muenzberg, Julie and Rob Barreras, Christine and Michael McMillan, Bradley and Victoria Barreras, Charles Aragon, Mariesa and Vanessa Barbosa and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Enrique (Henry) L. Barreras; her daughter, Consuelo Barbosa; her brothers, Cipriano L. and Osmundo Lucero; and her sister, Lucia Lucero. During the years Mrs. Barreras lived in California, she was an active member of The Sons and Daughters of New Mexico, The Women's Democratic Club, and the Gardena Valley Artists Association. Mrs. Barreras gave art classes in her home and at various community centers for many years. She attended Cerrillos High School and the Frank Wiggins Art School in Los Angeles, CA. She married Enrique (Henry) L. Barreras in November, 1925 in Cerrillos, NM. Mrs. Barreras was instrumental in the restoration of the San Miguel Church in the Village of La Bajada by donating her time, resources and artwork to see that the church was saved from neglect and near ruin. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. Visitation for Mrs. Barreras will be Thursday, May 13 at 6:00 with Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at the San Miguel Church at La Bajada Village. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 14 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pena Blanca with The Reverend Joe Redinbo, celebrant. Derryberry -- Orva B. Derryberry, 86, an Albuquerque resident since 1946, passed away Tuesday, May 4th. She was involved in numerous community organizations and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Chapter V of P.E.O., and Daughters of the Nile. Orva was a secretary and retired from the State Highway Dept. For almost 60 years Orva and her husband, Bob, enjoyed many activities and adventures together, from camping and motorcycle trips to square dancing, the theater and sports. And while each of her endeavors was greatly important, nothing was more important to her than her family and friends who had the privilege of being graced with the warmth of her beautiful smile, the strength of her constant optimism, and the love of her kind heart. Orva took great pleasure in the simplest of things and so saw the beauty of life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Robert, and both of her sons, Julian Robert, Jr., and Thomas Ward. Orva is survived by her"baby sister", Myrna Remmler; beloved granddaughter, Jill Honey Derryberry; Jill's mother, Linda Derryberry, and stepfather, Ron Kaufman; and many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Giroux -- Oleta Waldon Giroux, 78, passed away Sunday evening, May 9, 1999. She was born in Tuttle, OK to James and Helen Waldon, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Clyde; five children, Clyde Jr., Bruce, Sharon Muncy and husband, Roy, Kat and Debbie Chavez and husband, Henry; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jack and Bob Waldon. Oleta was the head occupational nurse at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, CA. After 25 years at Hughes, she retired and moved to Albuquerque where she worked at Lovelace Occupational and Sports Medicine for 10 years. At the time of her death, she was President of the Haskell Foundation. Memorial services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th Street at Silver SW, with Canon Byron McDougall officiating. Holmberg -- Frank Gunnar Holmberg, age 88, passed away on Monday, May 10, 1999 in Albuquerque. Frank was born on May 25, 1910 in Anaconda, MT. He attended the Montana School of Mines and the University of Montana before going to work for the Anaconda Mining Company. While in Montana he was very active mentoring young men by leading Boy Scouts and participating in the Young Men's Active Club. He later transferred to the Anaconda operations in Potrerillos, Chile, S.A., where he continued his involvement with youth by organizing and leading the first Boy Scouts Troop in Potrerillos. He met and married his lovely wife, Zoila in 1944 and his first son, John was born in Chile. The family relocated to the U.S., where their second son, Harold was born in Anaconda, MT. They transferred to Grants, NM and their daughter, Judith was born in Albuquerque. While in Grants, Frank joined and participated in many civic organizations. He was a Charter Member, Honorary Life Member, Grand Lodge Member and past Exalted Ruler of the Grants-Milan B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 2053. He served as Secretary and Potentate of the Grants Shrine Club and was a member of the Malpais Lodge No. 71 AF & AM. He was associated with the Kiwanis Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Cibola County Arts Council, the Ballut Abyad Temple and the Scottish Rite of Butte, MT. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Cibola County Hospital Board and was Treasurer of the Cibola County Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Zoila; and his brothers, Ernest and Gilbert. He is survived by his sister, Loretta Bahl of Seattle, WA; his son, John and his wife, Marcia of Albuquerque; his son, Harold and his wife, Barbara of Edmond, OK; his daughter, Judith Fife and her husband, Timothy of Los Alamos; six grandchildren, Michael and wife, Allison of Granby, MA, Lee of Edmond, OK, Jon and Angela of Albuquerque, Evan of Los Alamos; and one great-grandson, Caleb of Granby, MA. Frank's friendships were enduring and lasted through the years. His friends spanned the globe from Europe and South America to the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. Although Frank lived with his son, John after Zoila passed away his heat was always in Grants. He enjoyed every article in the Cibola County Beacon and cherished the telephone calls, visits, letters or cards he received from his friends. Though incapacitated by the affects of emphysema and macular degeneration, he strived to live his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but also by the many people he called friend. Visitation will be held at Grants Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, May 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Grants on Friday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Holmberg, Harold Holmberg, Michael Holmberg, Lee Holmberg, Jon Holmberg and Tim Fife. Honorary pallbearers are Perry Fisher, Kevin Fisher, Pete Halsey, Frank McClure, Ed Bannerman, Gordon McMillan, Ralph McQuery, Jake Abraham, E.M. Mortimer and Louis Carpenter. He is survived by his daughter, Monette Vezelici and husband, Steve of San Antonio, NM; mother, Emily Marquez and husband, Gabriel of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Gabriel, Estevan and Shania; two sisters, Paula Armijo and husband, Michael and Shelly Marquez; four nephews, Marcus, Dominic, Robert and Adan; two cousins who he loved like sisters, Arlene Baca and Vera Chavez; and many aunts; uncles; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gabe Marquez. Louie was a Veteran of Vietnam and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Montoya -- Mr. Joe A. Montoya, 89, entered into eternal rest on May 10, 1999 at Seama Village, Pueblo of Laguna. He was preceded in death by Daisy, his wife of 61 years. Mr. Montoya leaves to mourn and honor his memory his daughters, Josephine Harry and Eunice Garcia of the family home; his sons, Myron Montoya Sr. and companion, Isidora Dyea of Seama and Mesita, NM, Bob Montoya and wife, Donna of Napa, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cynthia Henio and husband, Leonard of Santa Fe, John A. Garcia of El Cerrito, CA, Myron Montoya Jr. and wife, Rose of Midland, TX, Victor Montoya and wife, Tamara of Farmington, Jennifer Camarena and husband, Manuel of San Antonio, TX, Steve Montoya of Albuquerque, Kevin Montoya and wife, Nicole of San Francisco, CA, Melanie Blackmon and husband, Rod of Napa, CA; his great-grandchildren, Robert Mansfield, Antonio Camarena, Scott Montoya and Diane Montoya; great-great-grandchild, Esian Bernal; his sister-in-law, Evangeline Rivera; and many nieces and nephews at Laguna and Santa Ana Pueblo; and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Montoya was employed by the AT & SF Railroad in Richmond, CA. Upon his retirement in 1974, he was awarded a Certificate of Honor for 31 years of service. He was an avid football fan, especially of the San Francisco 49'ers, one of the 49'er faithful. Mr. Montoya was a member of the Catholic church. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the family home in Seama Village, NM. Visitation will be at the family home after 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 11:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church in Seama, NM with visitation at the church after 10:30 a.m. Father Gary, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Seama Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Garcia, Myron Montoya Jr., Victor Montoya, Steven Montoya, Kevin Montoya and Robert Mansfield. Nellos -- Joanna Nicholas Nellos, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died Sunday, May 9, 1999. Walker -- George A."Jack" Walker, age 86, passed away on May 9, 1999 at the Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. Mr. Walker was born in Freestone, Texas on October 16, 1912 to William Davis Walker and the former Willie Ward. A resident of Elephant Butte since 1975, Mr. Walker was a retired Crusher Foreman with Brown Construction Company; had been a very active member of the Bethesda Lodge No. 64 AF&AM; the Kingston Lodge No. 16 AF&AM; the Hatch Val Verde Lodge No. 62 AF&AM; Shriners; former volunteer with the Elephant Butte Lakeshore Volunteer Fire Department and the Baptist Church. He leaves to mourn his passing his sisters, Barbara Hayes of Eunice, NM, Mary Ann McCann of Corsicana, TX, Lyn Wetzel of Kenai, AK; his step-mother, Margaret Walker of Eunice, NM; was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lois Walker in 1995; and a brother, James W.
