Anderson -- Clare (Andy) Anderson, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away December 20, 1998. He was born May 7, 1927 to Harry and Calmie Anderson in New Richland, Minnesota. He graduated from New Richland High School and served in the Army in Sasebo, Japan with the U.S. Armed Forces 1946/ 47. He was married to Margaret Doyle in 1950, moved to Albuquerque for her health, and daughter, Mary Clare was born in 1954. He remarried Florence Bentley Griego in 1979. Andy had a successful career for 39 years at Creamland Dairies, rising from home deliveryman to Operations Manager, retired in 1993, but continued as consultant until mid 1998. He often spoke of his work as"going home, rather than to work as Creamland is like family to me." Andy is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Mary Clare Rowlands and husband, Glyn of Australia; step-children, Stephen F. Griego, Barbara Regan and husband, Mark, Nick Griego and Mary Jane Bates; step-grandchildren, Tracie Griego, Laura Lei Gosa, and Kaitlyn M. Bates, a special person in his life; brothers, Glen and wife, Luella, Lester and wife, Lucille; sisters, Jeanette Schatzke, Velma Fisher, Harriet Biling; sister-in-law, Loretta Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his mother, father and brother, Milan. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 1998, 1:00 p.m., at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. Baldwin -- Winnie Mae Baldwin, 96, a resident of the Ladera Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 24, 1998. She is survived by her sister, Corrilea; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Marian Cannady; her parents; and her brothers, Thadeus Charles (T.C.), Carl, Winfred, Roland, and Glenn. Winnie was born on September 4, 1902 in Ft. Chadbourne, TX to Winfred and Ora Belle Baldwin. The family moved to the Estancia Valley and eventually to Albuquerque. She was employed by Charles Ilfeld as a bookkeeper from 1920 until the company was purchased and closed in 1970. Winnie was an active member of the Central Methodist Church from the time she moved to Albuquerque until she became too ill to attend services. Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Marty Singleterry officiating. Bjorsness -- Mercedes Ann Bjorsness, 68, died of a lengthy illness on December 22, 1998 in Albuquerque. She was born in Wayzata, Minnesota and moved to Albuquerque in 1969 from Excelsior, Minnesota. She was a homemaker and member of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community, Senior Citizens of Bear Canyon and T.O.P.S. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Walter Bjorsness of Albuquerque; a son, David W. Bjorsness of Las Cruces, NM; three daughters, Debra A. Kruger of Albuquerque, Diane M. Grona of San Antonio, TX and Dawn L. Archuleta of Cheyenne, WY; a brother, Louis Billodeau of Minneapolis, MN; a sister, Jeanne Eull of Cross Lake, MN; and six grandchildren, Caprice Anderson, Brian Zender, Nicole Archuleta, Shyla Archuletta, Kyle Kruger and Haley Grona. Booker -- Violet Elizabeth Booker a resident of Albuquerque for 58 years, passed away December 23, 1998. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Candelaria -- Mrs. Clorinda C. Candelaria died on Saturday at the age of 85. She is survived by three sons, Ernest Candelaria, Bill Candelaria, Enrique Harry Candelaria; two brothers, Antonio Padilla and Arsenio Padilla; three sisters, Kate Fuentes, Annie Padilla and Cecilia Martinez; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Candelaria will be held on Monday at the San Jose Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Carlberg -- Gwendolyn Watters Carlberg, 71, long time resident of Albuquerque, died in Dallas, Texas while visiting her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Erika Rener of Dallas, TX; her sons, Michael D. Carlberg (Joann) of Albuquerque, Dr. Matthew A. Carlberg (Kirsten) of Ridgecrest, CA and Edwin J. Carlberg (Lynn) of Albuquerque. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edwin William Carlberg"Bill" in 1977. Castillo -- Telesfor (Biddie) Castillo a resident of Bernalillo passed away December 23, 1998. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ramon and Carolina Castillo. He is survived by his wife, Mary Castillo; son, Phillip (Joseph) Castillo and two grandsons, Andrew and Michael Castillo. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Castillo and his wife, Nancy, Andrew Castillo and his wife, Edna; four sisters, Rose Delara, Florence Lucero, Esther Castillo and Gloria Garcia and her husband, Jerry and friends. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army. Friends may visit today from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Chavez -- Mrs. Ignacita"Agnes" Chavez, 78, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on December 26, 1998. Mrs. Chavez is the beloved wife of 58 years to Mr. Carmel Chavez. She is also survived by her loving children; one son, Reynaldo Chavez and three daughters, Sadie Luna, Betty Sanchez and Beatrice Alcon and husband, David; two sisters, Mary Garcia and husband, Orlando Andida Maldonado and husband, Tony; two brothers, Marcos Lujan and wife, Sofie and Johnny Lujan and wife, Viola; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic church, her greatest joys were serving the Lord and taking care of her family whom she loved dearly. A Rosary will be recited Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with visitation at the church after 2:30. Clayton -- Noveline Williams Clayton, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died December 24, 1998. She was born December 8, 1919 in Purvis, TX to Charles Bishop and Emma Landes Williams, the third of four children. Her sister Ethel Robinson, has preceded her in death. She married Hensley Doyle Clayton on December 20, 1942, and together they had six children. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jana Doyle, Christy Lynn and Pamella Lou and her parents, all of whom died in a tragic accident on December 26, 1952. Her husband of 52 years, Doyle passed away on August 12, 1994. Noveline is survived by her sons, Michael Hensley Clayton and wife, Christine of Albuquerque, and Philip Williams Clayton and wife, Davra of Albuquerque; daughter, Jalynn Mella Clayton and husband, Todd Heisey of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anna Nicole Clayton, Nicholas Doyle Clayton, Thane Clayton Heisey, Trevin Boone Clayton Heisey, and Allison Esther Clayton all of Albuquerque; brother, C.B. Williams of Arkansas; sister, Emma Tucker of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clayton, was a third grade teacher for over 21 years at Sombre del Monte Elementary School in Albuquerque. Her many talents included sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, and teaching. Noveline was a great advocate of education and the pursuit of excellence in all endeavoors. She was a strong woman of faith and wonderful mother; generous, kind-hearted, and devoted...a blessing to all who knew her. Clayton -- Robert Alan Clayton, 49, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 1998. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 2, 1949 to Robert A. and Tommie M. Clayton. He was a life long member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was employed by TVI Security and was also a TVI Business Administration student. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Clayton; his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Anna Clayton and his maternal grandfather, Arthur M. Paris. Robert is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Clayton of the home; two sons, Raschaad Ali Clayton of Los Angeles, California and Habiby Robert Neal Clayton of Albuquerque; one daughter, Abena Whitaker and grandson of Washington, DC; his mother, Tommie Clayton and sister, Mary Anna Clayton both of Albuquerque; two brothers, Thomas (Dady) Clayton and wife, Brenda of Albuquerque and Martin J. Conner -- Lemonia"Loula" Conner, age 52, died at her Santa Fe home on Tuesday, December 22, 1998, following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Anastasios Kardassopoulos. Mrs. Conner was born on February 26, 1946 in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia to Anastasios and Maria Kardassopoulos. She married her husband, John Conner, in 1975 in Japan. She has been a resident of Santa Fe since 1995 and was a member of St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, John Conner of Santa Fe; her mother, Maria Kardassopoulos of Athens, Greece; her loving sons, Christopher Conner, USMC, of Kings Bay, GA and Alexander Conner of Santa Fe; brother, John Kardassopoulos and his wife, Tunde of Athens, Greece; two nieces and two nephews; brothers-in-law, Allen Conner of Silver Springs, MD and Fr. Michael Conner of Michigan; and mother-in-law, Eleanor Conner of Philadelphia, PA. Conroy -- Thomas D. Conroy"Tom", U.S. Army Master Sgt. (Ret.), 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Wednesday, December 23, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Catherine F. Conroy of Albuquerque; children, Carol Duerr and husband, Travis and David Conroy, all of Albuquerque, Thomas D. Conroy, Jr. and wife, Mariellen of Denver, CO, and Michael Conroy and wife, Susan of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Scott Bryan, Rob Bryan, Thomas D. Conroy III, Debra Conroy, Wendy Conroy Williams, Jonathon Conroy, and Kirsten; and great-grandchildren, Devon Williams and Robert Rivas. Thomas and Catherine were married on June 10, 1938 in Flint, MI. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Mr. Conroy was a member of V.F.W. Dilorenzo -- Irene DiLorenzo, a resident of Albuquerque died, Wednesday, December 23, 1998. She is survived by her three children, James DiLorenzo and wife, Emily, Charles DiLorenzo and wife, Kathleen and Madonna DiLorenzo Castleman and husband, Ronald; five grandchildren, Annette DiLorenzo, David DiLorenzo and wife, Kim, Vincent DiLorenzo and wife, Jeannie, C. Paul DiLorenzo and Ross Alarid; three great-great-grandchildren, Madison, Mitchel and Thomas and twins expected in January; two sisters, Cleo Nooger and Lucille CdeBaca of Santa Fe; and her beloved cousins, Mary Louise Branum and Angie Kramer. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund DiLorenzo a long time automobile dealer in Albuquerque. She was born in Las Vegas, NM daughter of Hipolito CdeBaca and Cleofas Guerin. Irene was active in the St. Francis Cathedral Altar Society and was a post president. She was a past chairwoman for the March of Dimes in Santa Fe. Irene was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Albuquerque in assisting in the transportation of Cancer Patients for treatment. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church. Irene was a contributor to many charitable organizations and a sponsor of a Presidential Scholarship at the University of New Mexico. Duffy -- Betty Carter Duffy, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998. She was born November 23, 1913 in Galveston, TX to Louise Brand Carter and Samuel Russell Carter. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Amarillo, TX in 1929 and worked for two years for a doctor in Clovis, NM before going to Boston, MA on a voice scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music. Due to illness in the family she soon had to return to Clovis where she stayed briefly before moving to New York City to Work at Columbia University Hospital and for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon her return to New Mexico she worked in Santa Fe for the New Mexico State Dept. of Education during World War II. She was appointed a Col. Aide de Camp in the National Guard Auxiliary. While in Santa Fe, she met young Army Air crops officer from New York who was stationed at Sandia Base named Edward Duffy while she was performing during the Fiesta as"the Blonde Senorita". When Archbishop Gerken passed away she was specially requested to sing as he lie in state at St. Francis Cathedral. After the War Ed returned to New Mexico and he and Betty married in June 1947 at the Cathedral. after spending 20 years lovingly raising her four children she went back to work at the University of New Mexico Medical School in the Dept. of Neurology, where she worked with stroke patients with speech difficulties and later was office manager for the Regional Medical Program in its early years. Following her retirement, she studied French traveled extensively with Ed to Europe, Asia, Alaska, and throughout the US and Canada to visit their many friends and family. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream and began composing crossword puzzles which were published in many publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and several Simon & Schuster Crossword books. She spent many happy hours working crossword puzzles, always loving a good challenge and dearly loved spending time with her friends playing bridge. Perhaps her greatest joy in life, however, came from sharing in the lives of her children and their families. Nothing gave her more happiness than baby-sitting for their grandchildren. She faced her final challenge with grace and courage and will be terribly missed by all who were privileged to know her. Her family is particularly grateful to the many loving caregivers and residents and their family members at The Green Project who shared her final days. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward Thomas Duffy and their children, Robert and his wife, Jennie and their children, Emily, Meredith and Andy of Houston, TX, Julie and her husband, Charlie Brown and their children, Rachel and Scott of Albuquerque, Thomas and his wife, Pauline and their son, Liam of Vienna, VA, and Richard and his wife, Deborah and their children, Hannah, Joseph, Caroline and Margaret of Cabin John, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Cahill of Seattle, WA and brother, Sam Carter of Albuquerque, as well as numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, many of whom she gladly and lovingly"mothered" at different times in their lives. Durham -- Jimmie Gail, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 23, 1998. She was born on November 23, 1941 in Texarkana, TX to Lorris and Jim Plunkett. She is survived by her husband, C. Dan Durham; children, Carmine Durham and wife, Jennifer, and Paige Durham. She was an RN, graduated with a BSN from the University of New Mexico, and completed a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration. She contributed to the local health care community for many years and was involved in opening the new St. Joseph's Hospital building in the 1960's where she established most of her professional career. Her accomplishments included developing the Safety Monitoring Program for the hospital, participation in the statewide Area Emergency Preparation Program, providing expertise as a contributing author of the ECRI manual, and managing JCAHO/OSHA responsibilities. She was involved with numerous organizations including Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, American Society of Safety Engineers, National Fire Protection Agency, NMHA Task Force for Hazardous Infection and Waste Management, and NM Society for Management of Hazardous Waste. She was extremely grateful for the tremendous amount of support she received from her St. Joseph's family of co-workers throughout her career and illness. She enjoyed social activities with family and friends in the Albuquerque Boat Club and Family Motor Coach Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed creative cooking. Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte, N.E. Reverend Dewey Johnson will officiate. Eaton -- Edith Martini Eaton passed away in Albuquerque on Saturday, December 19, 1998. She was born April 4, 1906 in Brooklyn, NY and lived for many years in Syracuse, where she and her husband, Robert founded the Onondaga Hill Library and she was active in the Republican Women's Club. Edith was preceded in death by Robert 1990. They had been married 61 years at the time of his death. Edith's cremated remains will be placed with Robert's in the columbarium at the"Little Church Around the Corner" in New York City, where they were married. Edith and Robert moved to Los Lunas in 1974, and together they traveled throughout the state of New Mexico and most of the other Western states. Survivors include her daughter, Joan E. Prokopiak and husband, Michael of Los Lunas; her son, Robert P. Eaton and wife, Dorothy of Syracuse, NY; eight grandchildren, Michael R. Prokopiak of Albuquerque, William Prokopiak of Albuquerque, Cathy Hancock of Santa Fe, Chris Cheek of Grants Pass, OR, Judy Prokopiak of Portland, OR, Norman Eaton of Syracuse, Andrew Eaton of Syracuse, and David Eaton of Wirtz, VA. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held. Sunrise Society of New Mexico is serving the family of Mrs. Eaton.

Houston -- M. Lloyd Houston, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died on Thursday, December 24, 1998. Mr. Houston worked for the US Forrest Service for 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post $49, and the Elks Lodge. He was active with the Senior Olympics, participating in local, state and national competitions, as well as events in other states. He excelled in running the dashes, winning many medals. Mr. Houston was featured in New Mexico magazine, and Runner's World. He was a role model for seniors, as well as for younger people. Trujillo -- Paublita M. Trujillo, 81 years old, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998 in Taos, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Trujillo, and a son, Nicolas Trujillo. She is survived by one son, Jose Leon Trujillo and wife, Julia; and daughter, Crestina Trujillo Armstrong and husband, Jim; one granddaughter, Felicia Norris and husband, Chan, all from San Cristobal, NM; two grandsons, Mario Trujillo from Reno, NV, Matthew Armstrong and wife, Cynthia from Greatfalls, MT; one great-grandson, Damian Velarde from San Cristobal, NM; one great-grandaughter, Avery Renee Armstrong from Great Falls, MT; one sister, Angie Padilla from San Cristobal, NM; two brothers, Tony Martinez and wife, Dorothy and Eloy Mtz and wife, Julia all form Salt City Utah, UT. A Rosary will be recited Sat. 7:00 p.m. and viewing will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lujan's Taos Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at San Cristobal Catholic Church. Funeral services of a Christian Burial will be Monday, Dec. 28, at 10:00 a.m. at San Cristobal Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the family cemetery located at 38 Carlitos Road.

Vallejos -- Mrs. Louisa Vallejos, 74, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 24, 1998. Mrs. Vallejos is survived by her three daughters, Angie Placencio and husband, Rito, Frances Vallejos and Theresa Dominguez and husband, Art; one son, Alfred Vallejos Jr.; two sisters, Maria Peralta and Lena Chavez; one brother, Tranquilano Sisneros and a special sister-in-law, Lola; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Vallejos. Mrs. Vallejos was a member of the Catholic church. A Rosary will be recited Sunday afternoon at 4:00 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW with visitation after 3:30. Gabriella Nieto will recite the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited Monday at 11:00 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway S.E. with final viewing at the church after 10:30. Father Alberti Celebrant of the mass. Wasson -- Eloy Wasson, 76, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Friday, December 25, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Molly Wasson of Albuquerque; sister, Rose Gonzales and husband, Reynaldo of Albuquerque; brothers, Arthur Wasson and wife, Mary, James Wasson and wife, Viola, and Joseph Wasson and wife, Josie all of Albuquerque; 10 nephews; three nieces; and 17 grand-nephews and nieces. Mr. Wasson, born and raised in Las Vegas, NM, moved to Albuquerque in 1955. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and retired from the NM State Highway Department in 1983 with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #13 and Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Father Paul E. Baca reciting. Wilkie -- Michael John Wilkie, beloved son of Joan and John Wilkie, died at his parents home on December 24, 1998. Michael, a resident of Dallas, TX, was born on September 29, 1955. He is the dear brother of Jane Wilkie Olsho and husband, Peter Olsho and James Wilkie, M.D. and wife, Susan Andrews. Michael is also survived by a niece, Jessica Wilkie, and three nephews, Alexander, Andrew and Steven Wilkie. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, OH, and received an MBA from the University of Dallas. Michael worked in the communications industry in the United States and overseas. A memorial service will be held, Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Pastor Russell Lee officiating. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to their favorite charity or to Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain NE, 87111. He will not grow old as we are left to grow old, but he will live in our hearts forever.

Woodward -- Malcolm H. Woodward, 68, an Albuquerque resident since 1950, died Thursday, December 24, 1998. He was born on November 9, 1930 in Junction City, KS. Mr. Woodward retired from Sandia National Labs with 37 years service. He enjoyed reading, music, woodworking, map collecting and teaching his grandson, Darrell basketball. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Black of Los Lunas; sons, Wauley Woodward and wife, Debbie of Bosque Farms and Robin Woodward and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Darrell Black, Juanita Woodward, Shandin Woodward and Daniel Henley. Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Woodward in 1996. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Dr. Curtis Askew officiating.
