Baca -- Mrs. Felicita Baca, 98, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on May 10, 1999. Mrs. Baca is the beloved mother of three daughters, Mary Escobedo of Phoenix, AZ and Stella Barela of Phoenix, AZ and Felicita Lucero; 33 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 91 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; the spouses of the man grand and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Baca, was a member of the Aposento Alto Church and occasionally of Victory Outreach Church. She was a member of the Community of Barelas since 1935 and enjoyed her friends and activities at the Barelas Community Center. She loved her family dearly, being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. She loved the children and youth in the neighborhood and they knew her as Gran-ma. Mrs. Baca is preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Baca; her sons, Emilio Baca Jr., and Don Baca; a daughter, Alice Sanchez; grandson, David Lucero; a sister, Stella Baca and a granddaughter, Mary Jean Escobedo. A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Outreach Church, 933 Sunset Rd. S.W. with visitation at the church after 6:30. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 at Victory Outreach Church with visitation at the church after 9:30. Pastor Ruben Guajardo Sr., Pastor Dan Sanchez and Pastor Danny Sanchez officiating the services. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30. Pallbearers will be, Max Sanchez, George Lucero, Frank Barela, Simon Escobedo Jr., Robert Escobedo and Eddie Baca. Honorary will be Don Baca Jr., and Jimmy Baca. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.

Banta -- Irma Dell Banta, born July 8, 1915 in Baird, Texas, died Saturday at St. Francis Gardens Nursing Home in Albuquerque. Her daughter, Julia Runyan of Albuquerque and grandchildren, Pamela Young of Santa Fe and Emerson Runyan of Hobbs survive Mrs. Banta. Other survivors include great-grandchildren, Jessica Runyan of Hobbs and Robert Young of Albuquerque. Included as survivors are two brothers, Lahaman Bains of Odessa, TX and Curtis Bains of Hotchkiss, CO; four sisters, Lorena Fields of Littleton, CO, Jewell Beldon, Odessa, TX, Nellie Lewis and Lillie Schraeder, both of Corpus Christi, TX. Following cremation Mrs. Banta's ashes will be taken to Hobbs for internment with her late husband, Emerson. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at the Salvation Army Chapel, 4301 Bryn Mar NE. Broell -- Emma K. Broell, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Friday, May 7, 1999. She is survived by her son, Frederick Broell and wife, MaryAnn of Plano, TX; daughters, Marilyn Rossignol of Albuquerque, Barbara Coughlin and husband, Jim of Las Vegas, NV, and Alberta Hamilton of San Jose, CA; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick; brother, Charlie Raymond; sister, Bertha Staehlin; great-grandson, David Deuel; and son-in-law, Rosy Rossignol. Couturier -- Ellen F. Lew Couturier, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since November 1996, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. She is survived by her husband, James Couturier of Albuquerque; daughter, Stephanie Lew and husband, Roger Allyn of Farmington; son, Stephen Lew of Hayward, CA; brother, Elton Fong and wife, Charli of San Leandro, CA; nieces, Marcella Fong McFadden, Anny Fong, and Kelly Fong; nephew, Michael Fong; and great-nephew, Jack McFadden. Ellen was preceded in death by her former husband, S. Blair Hutchison in 1993. She worked many years with the Federal Civil Service, retiring in 1985. Ellen then started a highly successful catering business in Savannah, GA. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary - Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Derryberry -- Orva B. Derryberry, 86, an Albuquerque resident since 1946, passed away Tuesday, May 4th. She was involved in numerous community organizations and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Chapter V of P.E.O., and Daughters of the Nile. Orva was a secretary and retired from the State Highway Dept. For almost 60 years Orva and her husband, Bob, enjoyed many activities and adventures together, from camping and motorcycle trips to square dancing, the theater and sports. And while each of her endeavors was greatly important, nothing was more important to her than her family and friends who had the privilege of being graced with the warmth of her beautiful smile, the strength of her constant optimism, and the love of her kind heart. Orva took great pleasure in the simplest of things and so saw the beauty of life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Robert, and both of her sons, Julian Robert, Jr., and Thomas Ward. Orva is survived by her"baby sister", Myrna Remmler; beloved granddaughter, Jill Honey Derryberry; Jill's mother, Linda Derryberry, and stepfather, Ron Kaufman; and many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness in the true spirit of Orva's kind and loving nature.

Ford -- Joanne Christie Mossey Ford, 57, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Mrs. Ford was a native of Hyannis, Massachusetts. She was a resident of Albuquerque and a former resident of Pensacola, Florida. Survivors include her husband, John K. Ford of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Darryl Ford of Loxley, AL, Eugene Wiederkehr of Havelock, NC; brother, Roger Chicoine of Tres Pinos, CA; sister, Sandra Schwarz of Sea Bright, NJ; granddaughter, Ashleigh Barnes of California. Olguin -- Guillermo Olguin, 66, left us to be with the Lord on May 8, 1999. He fought a valiant and courageous battle during many months of illness. During that time he was cleansed by the Holy Spirit and continues to live in our hearts. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ramona Olguin; devoted daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Rudy Sanchez; grandsons, Anthony (who was like a son), Patrick and Michael Sanchez; great-granddaughter, Marisa Sanchez; brothers, Jesus Olguin, and Emiliano Olguin; sisters, Rose and husband, Ralph Garcia, Ernestine and Moses Esquibel, and Esmeralda Urioste; and numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Starr -- William Peter Starr, a resident of Albuquerque for 29 years died on May 8, 1999. William was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 23, 1913, son of Joseph Starr and Josephine Ward. William was predeceased by wife Evelyn E. Starr of 51 years. A World War II veteran of the Navy, he is survived by brother, John Ward Starr of Wisconsin; three nieces, Judith Sahms of South Carolina. Jackie Patten of Virginia, and Joanne Christenson of Wisconsin; and many loving friends. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice Unit, P.O. Box 26666. Velarde -- Jose Benny Velarde (Nuni), age 73, longtime Albuquerque resident, died May 8, 1999. He was born May 30th, 1925 in Gallup, NM. And was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Marie Velarde; five brothers, and one sister. Benny was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW Post #401. He was a respected member of the Church and his family. He will be greatly missed by all. A loving husband, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife 53 years Gladys; three sisters, Adela Garcia, Sida Tafoya and Theodora Chavez; two brothers, Joe and Mike; four children, Toni Barela, Sylvia Velarde, Daniel Velarde and his wife, Lorraine, and Cristina Velarde; 11 grandchildren, Ruben and his wife, Shirley, Angel Lucas and Mario Barela, Jodie, Nicholas, and Jacob Castillo, Michael and Sophia Velarde, Lisa and husband, Karl Casias, Adriane and Megan Jiron; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Williamson -- Mrs. Ruth Williamson, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, passed away Sunday, May 9, 1999. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Mary Van Valkenburgh-Lucero; grandnephew, Kenneth Cates; cousin, Georgia Franklin; two wonderful friends, Alice Harrison and Barbara Morales. She was preceded in death by her two sisters; parents; and one son, Dick Van Valkenburgh. Mrs. Williamson was born in 1907 in Oklahoma to one of the most respected pioneer families of the state. She was the daughter of Julia A. Lewis and Robert S. Williams. Mrs. Williamson was the granddaughter of the late Judge Lewis, who settled in Oklahoma in 1831 and was a member of the Dawes Commission, later being elected to the Oklahoma Senate. She was married to Richard Van Valkenburgh and Dwight Williamson. She retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1973. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 3:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. Charles E. Price officiating.
