Anderson -- Clare (Andy) Anderson, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away December 20, 1998. He was born May 7, 1927 to Harry and Calmie Anderson in New Richland, Minnesota. He graduated from New Richland High School and served in the Army in Sasebo, Japan with the U.S. Armed Forces 1946/ 47. He was married to Margaret Doyle in 1950, moved to Albuquerque for her health, and daughter, Mary Clare was born in 1954. He remarried Florence Bentley Griego in 1979. Andy had a successful career for 39 years at Creamland Dairies, rising from home deliveryman to Operations Manager, retired in 1993, but continued as consultant until mid 1998. He often spoke of his work as"going home, rather than to work as Creamland is like family to me." Andy is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter, Mary Clare Rowlands and husband, Glyn of Australia; step-children, Stephen F. Griego, Barbara Regan and husband, Mark, Nick Griego and Mary Jane Bates; step-grandchildren, Tracie Griego, Laura Lei Gosa, and Kaitlyn M. Bates, a special person in his life; brothers, Glen and wife, Luella, Lester and wife, Lucille; sisters, Jeanette Schatzke, Velma Fisher, Harriet Biling; sister-in-law, Loretta Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his mother, father and brother, Milan. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 1998, 1:00 p.m., at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. Candelaria -- Mrs. Clorinda C. Candelaria died on Saturday at the age of 85. She is survived by three sons, Ernest Candelaria, Bill Candelaria, Enrique Harry Candelaria; two brothers, Antonio Padilla and Arsenio Padilla; three sisters, Kate Fuentes, Annie Padilla and Cecilia Martinez; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Candelaria will be held on Monday at the San Jose Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Chavez -- Paul H. Chavez, 68, a lifelong resident of New Mexico was called home to be with the Lord Friday, December 25, 1998. He was a member of the Holy Child Church in Carnuel, New Mexico and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Clayton -- Noveline Williams Clayton, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died December 24, 1998. She was born December 8, 1919 in Purvis, TX to Charles Bishop and Emma Landes Williams, the third of four children. Her sister Ethel Robinson, has preceded her in death. She married Hensley Doyle Clayton on December 20, 1942, and together they had six children. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jana Doyle, Christy Lynn and Pamella Lou and her parents, all of whom died in a tragic accident on December 26, 1952. Her husband of 52 years, Doyle passed away on August 12, 1994. Noveline is survived by her sons, Michael Hensley Clayton and wife, Christine of Albuquerque, and Philip Williams Clayton and wife, Davra of Albuquerque; daughter, Jalynn Mella Clayton and husband, Todd Heisey of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anna Nicole Clayton, Nicholas Doyle Clayton, Thane Clayton Heisey, Trevin Boone Clayton Heisey, and Allison Esther Clayton all of Albuquerque; brother, C.B. Williams of Arkansas; sister, Emma Tucker of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Clayton, was a third grade teacher for over 21 years at Sombre del Monte Elementary School in Albuquerque. Her many talents included sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, and teaching. Noveline was a great advocate of education and the pursuit of excellence in all endeavoors. She was a strong woman of faith and wonderful mother; generous, kind-hearted, and devoted...a blessing to all who knew her. Cooley -- Mary Stella Cooley, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Friday, December 25, 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Jean Quint and husband, Bill of Edgewood, NM, Mary Louise Mahood of Coldwater, MI, and Barbara A. Williams and husband, Dennis of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Edward Holland of Caldwell, ID. Mrs. Cooley was preceded in death by her husband P.L. Cummings -- Surrounded by her loving family, Marjorie M. Cummings passed away on December 25, 1998, at the age of 80. She was born on July 11, 1918 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Anne and Burd Cummings. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1928, where Marge graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1935. She then worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Las Cruces and the Mescalero Indian Service before attending St. Joseph's nursing School in Albuquerque. She graduated in 1947 and began her long-time nursing career at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Albuquerque. She retired from nursing in 1976 and became an active church and community volunteer. Marge cared deeply for others and was involved in many service activities including Meals on Wheels and The Storehouse. She was very committed to a variety of programs at ST. Paul Lutheran Church. Marge also provided love, support, and guidance to her many friends and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lee Vernon Cummings. She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Jackson and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Betty Cummings; nieces, Jane Hain, Diana Jackson, and Paula Swain; nephews, Bob Jackson, Jim Jackson, Ed Jackson, and Carl Cummings, and many grand-nieces and nephews. Marge was a selfless, caring person who was loved and cherished by many. She will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be on Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., December 29, 1998, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, conducted by Pastor Larry Wright. Followed by a reception at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Indian School RD. Detevis -- Pedro D. DeTevis, 87, born June 13, 1911 in Dawson, NM, a resident of Albuquerque was called home to be with the Lord Thursday December 24, 1998. He was a member of the Church of Our Savior and a Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mamie; his daughter, Alice Sanchez and husband, Fred; six grandchildren, Lisa Pulliam, Fred, Christopher and James Sanchez, Janelle Padilla, Jennifer Garcia; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Patricio, and Charlie; his sister, Elsie; and other cherished loved ones, Dolores, Mary, Dan and Fabiola. He will be missed by his family. Dilorenzo -- Irene DiLorenzo, a resident of Albuquerque died, Wednesday, December 23, 1998. She is survived by her three children, James DiLorenzo and wife, Emily, Charles DiLorenzo and wife, Kathleen and Madonna DiLorenzo Castleman and husband, Ronald; five grandchildren, Annette DiLorenzo, David DiLorenzo and wife, Kim, Vincent DiLorenzo and wife, Jeannie, C. Paul DiLorenzo and Ross Alarid; three great-great-grandchildren, Madison, Mitchel and Thomas and twins expected in January; two sisters, Cleo Nooger and Lucille CdeBaca of Santa Fe; and her beloved cousins, Mary Louise Branum and Angie Kramer. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund DiLorenzo a long time automobile dealer in Albuquerque. She was born in Las Vegas, NM daughter of Hipolito CdeBaca and Cleofas Guerin. Irene was active in the St. Francis Cathedral Altar Society and was a post president. She was a past chairwoman for the March of Dimes in Santa Fe. Irene was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Albuquerque in assisting in the transportation of Cancer Patients for treatment. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church. Irene was a contributor to many charitable organizations and a sponsor of a Presidential Scholarship at the University of New Mexico. Dotson -- Catherine Dotson a resident in Albuquerque passed away on December 26, 1998 at the age of 73. She is survived by one son, Delton Dotson and Pauline; two sisters, Bonnie J. Smith and Cora Webber; one grandson, Delton Dotson Jr.; three nephews, Derwin Price and wife, Norma, Wendell and wife, Becky and Willie Fulcher; two grand-nephews and four grand-nieces. Duffy -- Betty Carter Duffy, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998. She was born November 23, 1913 in Galveston, TX to Louise Brand Carter and Samuel Russell Carter. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Amarillo, TX in 1929 and worked for two years for a doctor in Clovis, NM before going to Boston, MA on a voice scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music. Due to illness in the family she soon had to return to Clovis where she stayed briefly before moving to New York City to Work at Columbia University Hospital and for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon her return to New Mexico she worked in Santa Fe for the New Mexico State Dept. of Education during World War II. She was appointed a Col. Aide de Camp in the National Guard Auxiliary. While in Santa Fe, she met young Army Air crops officer from New York who was stationed at Sandia Base named Edward Duffy while she was performing during the Fiesta as"the Blonde Senorita". When Archbishop Gerken passed away she was specially requested to sing as he lie in state at St. Francis Cathedral. After the War Ed returned to New Mexico and he and Betty married in June 1947 at the Cathedral. after spending 20 years lovingly raising her four children she went back to work at the University of New Mexico Medical School in the Dept. of Neurology, where she worked with stroke patients with speech difficulties and later was office manager for the Regional Medical Program in its early years. Following her retirement, she studied French traveled extensively with Ed to Europe, Asia, Alaska, and throughout the US and Canada to visit their many friends and family. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream and began composing crossword puzzles which were published in many publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and several Simon & Schuster Crossword books. She spent many happy hours working crossword puzzles, always loving a good challenge and dearly loved spending time with her friends playing bridge. Perhaps her greatest joy in life, however, came from sharing in the lives of her children and their families. Nothing gave her more happiness than baby-sitting for their grandchildren. She faced her final challenge with grace and courage and will be terribly missed by all who were privileged to know her. Her family is particularly grateful to the many loving caregivers and residents and their family members at The Green Project who shared her final days. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward Thomas Duffy and their children, Robert and his wife, Jennie and their children, Emily, Meredith and Andy of Houston, TX, Julie and her husband, Charlie Brown and their children, Rachel and Scott of Albuquerque, Thomas and his wife, Pauline and their son, Liam of Vienna, VA, and Richard and his wife, Deborah and their children, Hannah, Joseph, Caroline and Margaret of Cabin John, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Cahill of Seattle, WA and brother, Sam Carter of Albuquerque, as well as numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, many of whom she gladly and lovingly"mothered" at different times in their lives. We cherish the time we had with her; she will be dearly missed. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 28, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Reverend Francis Eggert will officiate. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 1:30 p.m. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements.

Durham -- Jimmie Gail, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 23, 1998. She was born on November 23, 1941 in Texarkana, TX to Lorris and Jim Plunkett. She is survived by her husband, C. Dan Durham; children, Carmine Durham and wife, Jennifer, and Paige Durham. She was an RN, graduated with a BSN from the University of New Mexico, and completed a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration. She contributed to the local health care community for many years and was involved in opening the new St. Joseph's Hospital building in the 1960's where she established most of her professional career. Her accomplishments included developing the Safety Monitoring Program for the hospital, participation in the statewide Area Emergency Preparation Program, providing expertise as a contributing author of the ECRI manual, and managing JCAHO/OSHA responsibilities. She was involved with numerous organizations including Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, American Society of Safety Engineers, National Fire Protection Agency, NMHA Task Force for Hazardous Infection and Waste Management, and NM Society for Management of Hazardous Waste. She was extremely grateful for the tremendous amount of support she received from her St. Joseph's family of co-workers throughout her career and illness. She enjoyed social activities with family and friends in the Albuquerque Boat Club and Family Motor Coach Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed creative cooking. Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte, N.E. Reverend Dewey Johnson will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer contributions to a charity of their friend's choice. Arrangements are through Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. S.E.

Houston -- M. Lloyd Houston, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died on Thursday, December 24, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma Jean Houston of Albuquerque; daughters, Carla Fisher and husband, Russell of Houston, TX, Debra Yoshimura of Albuquerque, and Shari Zinik and husband, Steve of Salt Lake City, UT; granddaughters, Lesley Fisher, Andrea Fisher, Mariko Yoshimura, and Kiri Yoshimura; sister, Dannie Houston of Parsons, TN, Melvin Houston and wife, Fran of LaGrange, GA, Marie Barrett and husband, Keylon of Parsons, TN, and Virginia Ivey of Wiggins, MS. Mr. Houston attended Cryptography School in Pawling, NY. He was a S. Sgt. Cryptographic Technician. He served his country during World War II, as a Cryptographer, in the 723rd, AAFTTC, from October 1942 to February 1946, on the Island of Trinidad, it was post he enjoyed. Mr. Houston worked for the US Forrest Service for 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post $49, and the Elks Lodge. He was active with the Senior Olympics, participating in local, state and national competitions, as well as events in other states. He excelled in running the dashes, winning many medals. Mr. Houston was featured in New Mexico magazine, and Runner's World. He was a role model for seniors, as well as for younger people. Huffman -- Helen J. Huffman, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988. She passed on to her reward Wednesday, December 23, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Joseph G. Huffman; brothers, Howard P. Clark and wife, Martha, Donald A. Clark and wife, Mildred; sister, Frances Humzinger; plus numerous nieces and nephews. She attended Cortland College and after graduation taught school. In 1945 she married Joseph and moved to California. After their retirements they moved to Northern New York for nine years then to this city in 1987. Mcwatters -- Beulah McWatters, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969 died, Wednesday, December 23, 1998. Moody -- Wayne E. Moody, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Friday, December 25, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Chloe of the family home; son, Bob Moody and wife, Dorothy of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Shannon, Wayne, Kimmie and Bobby; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Dixon of Littleton, CO; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Moody was the service manager of Central Chevrolet in Grand Junction, CO until moving to Albuquerque in 1962. He was associated with Galles Motor Companies until his retirement. He was a life member at the BPO Elks, Lodge 461 and a member of the Albuquerque Community Church for many years. Pena -- Guadalupe"G.T." Pena, 84, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, December 26, 1998. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post 72. He was retired from the A.T. & S.F. Railroad in 1975 after 32 years of outstanding service. He was a talented artist, making wood carvings of people and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Catarina, and two brothers, Sostenes and Francisco Torres. He is survived by his three children, Cruzann Pena-Dziuk and husband, Robert, Stephen Pena and wife, Lenore, and Christine Pena; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Juan Pena of Clovis. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a rosary on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Memorial services will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in G.T.'s name to the St. Joseph Hospice. Valdez -- Joe P. Valdez, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque since July 1998 and formerly of Las Vegas, NM, passed away Friday, December 25, 1998 in Albuquerque following a brief illness. Mr. Valdez was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 28, 1922 and is the son of the late Pablo Valdez and Adelaida Roybal Valdez. Mr. Valdez is survived by his wife, Christina G. Valdez of the family home in Albuquerque; and two daughters, Vera Jo Lujan and husband, Joe of Las Vegas, NM and Mary Romero and husband, LeRoy of Farmington, NM. Numerous other relatives also survive. Rosary devotional services will be conducted Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 9:00 from the same church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery time pending. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Mortuary.

Wilkie -- Michael John Wilkie, beloved son of Joan and John Wilkie, died at his parents home on December 24, 1998. Michael, a resident of Dallas, TX, was born on September 29, 1955. He is the dear brother of Jane Wilkie Olsho and husband, Peter Olsho and James Wilkie, M.D. and wife, Susan Andrews. Michael is also survived by a niece, Jessica Wilkie, and three nephews, Alexander, Andrew and Steven Wilkie. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, OH, and received an MBA from the University of Dallas. Michael worked in the communications industry in the United States and overseas. A memorial service will be held, Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Pastor Russell C. Lee officiating. He will not grow old as we are left to grow old, but he will live in our hearts forever.

Wilson -- Michael Leroy"Casper" Wilson, 17 years old, passed away on December 25, 1998 at his home. He was a loving and caring son who touched many hearts and lives and will always be loved an remembered. Michael is survived by his mother, Cindy L. Matthew and her husband, Darrell R. Matthew; one sister, Crystal Marie James; one step-sister, Mandy Lynn Matthew; one step-brother, Cole Lawrence Matthew. Michael is also survived by his grandmother, Mary Ellen Wilson of Beaver Falls, PA; his grandfather, Ronald L. Wilson Sr. and wife, Suzanne Marie of Cotter, AR; his aunts, Carla Jean Donnelly, Donnell Wilson; and one uncle, Ronald L. Wilson Jr. Michael had many cousins, nephews and nieces who love him and will miss him. Services will be Tuesday December 29, 1998 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Central Assembly of God Church, located at 124 Texas NE with Reverend Russ Fuller officiating. Woodward -- Malcolm H. Woodward, 68, an Albuquerque resident since 1950, died Thursday, December 24, 1998. He was born on November 9, 1930 in Junction City, KS. Mr. Woodward retired from Sandia National Labs with 37 years service. He enjoyed reading, music, woodworking, map collecting and teaching his grandson, Darrell basketball. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Black of Los Lunas; sons, Wauley Woodward and wife, Debbie of Bosque Farms and Robin Woodward and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Darrell Black, Juanita Woodward, Shandin Woodward and Daniel Henley.
