Booker -- Violet Elizabeth Booker a resident of Albuquerque for 58 years, passed away December 21, 1998. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her one son, John H. Booker and wife, Lisa; two daughters, Gloria Belew and Margaret Seis and husband, Bill; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Margaret Spicola; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carrington -- Barbara Mae Carrington, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in Socorro, NM. She was born June 1, 1929 to Walter and Mildred Sumner Doolin in Lindsay, CA. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard of Socorro, NM; daughters, Renee Baker of Ft. Collins, CO, Vicki Langurin of Simi Valley, CA, Donna Forrest of Crestline, CA, Peggy Benton of Canyon Country, CA and Rhonda Forsberg of Riverton, UT; mother and step-father, Mildred and Lloyd Owens of Clearlake Park, CA; brother, Robert Doolin of San Angelo, TX; sisters, Carolyn McCall of El Sobrante, CA and Pat Morrison of Tracy, CA; half-sister, Naoma Ozmond of Tulia, TX; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 28, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Reid Grigg officiating. Interment will be in the Socorro Cemetery. Castillo -- Telesfor (Biddie) Castillo a resident of Bernalillo passed away December 23, 1998. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Ramon and Carolina Castillo. He is survived by his wife, Mary Castillo; son, Phillip (Joseph) Castillo and two grandsons, Andrew and Michael Castillo. Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Castillo and his wife, Nancy, Andrew Castillo and his wife, Edna; four sisters, Rose Delara, Florence Lucero, Esther Castillo and Gloria Garcia and her husband, Jerry and friends. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army. Friends may visit Sunday, December 27 and 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, December 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. Conroy -- Thomas D. Conroy"Tom", U.S. Army Master Sgt. (Ret.), 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Wednesday, December 23, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Catherine F. Conroy of Albuquerque; children, Carol Duerr and husband, Travis and David Conroy, all of Albuquerque, Thomas D. Conroy, Jr. and wife, Mariellen of Denver, CO, and Michael Conroy and wife, Susan of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Scott Bryan, Rob Bryan, Thomas D. Conroy III, Debra Conroy, Wendy Conroy Williams, Jonathon Conroy, and Kirsten; and great-grandchildren, Devon Williams and Robert Rivas. Thomas and Catherine were married on June 10, 1938 in Flint, MI. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Mr. Conroy was a member of V.F.W. Post 401, M.O.C. #7, and American Legion Post 49. He was a Civil Service employee at Kirtland A.F.B. for 22 years. Mr. Conroy was also a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital and Kirtland A.F.B. Hospital for 30 years. Cremation has taken place and memorial Mass will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE, with Father Ted J. Hunt, Celebrant and Eulogy by Joe Ford, State V.F.W. Commander. Ennichement will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors by V.F.W. Post 401. De Luca -- Julia Elizabeth De Luca, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1921, died on Wednesday, December 23, 1998. She is survived by her children, James P. De Luca, Sr. and wife, Lubi, John R. De Luca, Mary L. De Luca and husband, James S. Goodman, and Michael A. De Luca and wife, Chanda, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, James P. De Luca, Jr., Diane M. Montiel and husband, Charles, Sr., Monica J. Goodman, David J. Goodman, and Anthony D. De Luca; great-grandchildren, Charles G. Montiel, Jr., and Jacqueline M. Montiel; brother, Frank B. Cortese, Sr. and wife, Tillie; sisters, Rosemary Shaw and husband, Harold and Peggy Romero and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Maruzza D'Alfonso of Italy; aunts, Ida Cappelletti, Susan Fortino, and Mary Fortino, all of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester De Luca in 1975. Mrs. De Luca was employed with Albuquerque Public Schools for over 25 years, in the food service area at Tomasita Elementary, and Kennedy Middle School. Dekker -- Marcella R. Dekker, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died December 22, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur W. Dekker of Albuquerque; daughter, Diana Hart of Round Rock, TX; three sons, Dale Dekker and wife, Diane of Albuquerque, David Dekker and wife, Judi, also of Albuquerque, Dean Dekker and wife, Giang of Dallas; grandchildren, Marcy, Patrick and Amanda Hart, Travis, Paige and Luke Dekker, Joe and Jill Dekker; a brother, John Ulrey and wife, Mea of Boise, ID; brother-in-law, John Dekker of Denver, CO; other relatives and numerous friends. Mrs. Dekker was born November 22, 1921 in Woodward, Oklahoma and also lived in Texas and Kansas. She became a registered dietitian after graduating from Kansas State University and interning at John Hopkins Hospital. She was then commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Medical Corp. and served in hospitals in Texas, Saipan, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. She was married to Arthur Dekker, whom she met in Saipan in October of 1946. Mrs. Dekker was active in Cosmopolitan Woman's Club, PEO Chapter AU, and was a longtime member of Monte Vista (Disciples of Christ) Christian Church. Memorial services will be held at Monte Vista Church, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, with the Rev. Fred Dorisse officiating. Cremation has taken place. Committal of cremains will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mrs. Dekker.

Dilorenzo -- Irene DiLorenzo, a resident of Albuquerque died, Wednesday, December 23, 1998. She is survived by her three children, James DiLorenzo and wife, Emily, Charles DiLorenzo and wife, Kathleen and Madonna DiLorenzo Castleman and husband, Ronald; five grandchildren, Annette DiLorenzo, David DiLorenzo and wife, Kim, Vincent DiLorenzo and wife, Jeannie, C. Paul DiLorenzo and Ross Alarid; three great-great-grandchildren, Madison, Mitchel and Thomas and twins expected in January; two sisters, Cleo Nooger and Lucille CdeBaca of Santa Fe; and her beloved cousins, Mary Louise Branum and Angie Kramer. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund DiLorenzo a long time automobile dealer in Albuquerque. She was born in Las Vegas, NM daughter of Hipolito CdeBaca and Cleofas Guerin. Irene was active in the St. Francis Cathedral Altar Society and was a post president. She was a past chairwoman for the March of Dimes in Santa Fe. Irene was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Albuquerque in assisting in the transportation of Cancer Patients for treatment. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church. Irene was a contributor to many charitable organizations and a sponsor of a Presidential Scholarship at the University of New Mexico. Rosary will be recited, Sunday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Father Paul Baca reciting. Duffy -- Betty Carter Duffy, age 85, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998. She was born November 23, 1913 in Galveston, TX to Louise Brand Carter and Samuel Russell Carter. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Amarillo, TX in 1929 and worked for two years for a doctor in Clovis, NM before going to Boston, MA on a voice scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music. Due to illness in the family she soon had to return to Clovis where she stayed briefly before moving to New York City to Work at Columbia University Hospital and for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon her return to New Mexico she worked in Santa Fe for the New Mexico State Dept. of Education during World War II. She was appointed a Col. Aide de Camp in the National Guard Auxiliary. While in Santa Fe, she met young Army Air crops officer from New York who was stationed at Sandia Base named Edward Duffy while she was performing during the Fiesta as"the Blonde Senorita". When Archbishop Gerken passed away she was specially requested to sing as he lie in state at St. Francis Cathedral. After the War Ed returned to New Mexico and he and Betty married in June 1947 at the Cathedral. after spending 20 years lovingly raising her four children she went back to work at the University of New Mexico Medical School in the Dept. of Neurology, where she worked with stroke patients with speech difficulties and later was office manager for the Regional Medical Program in its early years. Following her retirement, she studied French traveled extensively with Ed to Europe, Asia, Alaska, and throughout the US and Canada to visit their many friends and family. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream and began composing crossword puzzles which were published in many publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and several Simon & Schuster Crossword books. She spent many happy hours working crossword puzzles, always loving a good challenge and dearly loved spending time with her friends playing bridge. Perhaps her greatest joy in life, however, came from sharing in the lives of her children and their families. Nothing gave her more happiness than baby-sitting for their grandchildren. She faced her final challenge with grace and courage and will be terribly missed by all who were privileged to know her. Her family is particularly grateful to the many loving caregivers and residents and their family members at The Green Project who shared her final days. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Edward Thomas Duffy and their children, Robert and his wife, Jennie and their children, Emily, Meredith and Andy of Houston, TX, Julie and her husband, Charlie Brown and their children, Rachel and Scott of Albuquerque, Thomas and his wife, Pauline and their son, Liam of Vienna, VA, and Richard and his wife, Deborah and their children, Hannah, Joseph, Caroline and Margaret of Cabin John, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Cahill of Seattle, WA and brother, Sam Carter of Albuquerque, as well as numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, many of whom she gladly and lovingly"mothered" at different times in their lives. We cherish the time we had with her; she will be dearly missed. Rosary will be recited Sunday, December 27, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Son Mortuary at 3113 Carlisle NE. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 28, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Houston -- Beverly June Houston, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Thursday, December 24, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James G. Houston of the family home; sons, James M. Houston and fiancee, Kristin Gonzales of Albuquerque and Thomas P. Houston and wife, Suzette of Albuquerque; grandsons, Benjamin R. Houston, Matthew P. Houston, Taylor M. Adkins, and Tracy J. Adkins; brother-in-law, Michael Houston of Memphis, TN; uncle, Lyle Christensen and wife, Sharlene of Oceanside, CA; aunts, Myrtle Rath of Denison, IA, and Evelyn Houston of Missouri Valley, IA; close cousins, Norman Christensen and wife, Karen of Denison, IA, Jocelyn Hulsebus of Kansas City, KS, and numerous other cousins and many, many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Francis and Violet Keating. Mrs. Houston was formerly of Omaha, NE and Denison, IA. She was a talented artist and designer and loved art and music. Houston -- M. Lloyd Houston, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died on Thursday, December 24, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma Jean Houston of Albuquerque; daughters, Carla Fisher and husband, Russell of Houston, TX, Debra Yoshimura of Albuquerque, and Shari Zinik and husband, Steve of Salt Lake City, UT; granddaughters, Lesley Fisher, Andrea Fisher, Mariko Yoshimura, and Kiri Yoshimura; sister, Dannie Houston of Parsons, TN, Melvin Houston and wife, Fran of LaGrange, GA, Marie Barrett and husband, Keylon of Parsons, TN, and Virginia Ivey of Wiggins, MS. Mr. Houston attended Cryptography School in Pawling, NY. He was a S. Sgt. Cryptographic Technician. He served his country during World War II, as a Cryptographer, in the 723rd, AAFTTC, from October 1942 to February 1946, on the Island of Trinidad, it was post he enjoyed. Mr. Houston worked for the US Forrest Service for 35 years. He was a member of American Legion Post $49, and the Elks Lodge. He was active with the Senior Olympics, participating in local, state and national competitions, as well as events in other states. He excelled in running the dashes, winning many medals. Mr. Houston was featured in New Mexico magazine, and Runner's World. He was a role model for seniors, as well as for younger people. Services will be held Monday, December 28, 1998, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
