BENOIST -- Donald Leroy Benoist, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 18, 2005. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Helen; five children: David Benoist and wife, Linda, Jill Lundstrom and husband, Dick, Ann Benson, Kathleen Benoist, and Jeff Benoist and wife, Michelle; eight grandchildren: Forrest, Blake, Erica, Carl, Molly, Caty, Josh, and Brandon. Don grew up in Mt. Vernon, IL and graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Champagne. Don moved to Albuquerque in 1956 and worked for 34 years at Sandia National Laboratories before retiring in 1994. Don was an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and greatly enjoyed spending time with fellow members of his Sunday school class. In his retirement, Don was involved in volunteer work at the Albuquerque BioPark, participated in "The Last Thursday" men's book club, and followed Lobo football and basketball games. Don loved and was loved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2005 at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE. CHAVEZ -- Orlando A. Chavez passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 18, 2005 in Albuquerque at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, Rose Chavez; sons, Tony Chavez and wife, Dora, Julian Chavez and wife, Jane, Robert Chavez, and Benjie Chavez and Dianna; daughters, Anita Carter and husband, James, and Margie Florez and husband, Ruben; brother, Albert "Dad" Chavez; sister, Sarah; grandchildren, Michelle, Jackie, Lisa, Mark, James Jr., John, Lynda Marie, Michael Ruben, Jon, and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, David, Joel, Dominic, Natalie, Anjoli, and Julianna. A Rosary for Mr. Chavez will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. COLE -- GERALD REUBEN. The Honorable Gerald Reuben Cole died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 13, 2005. He is survived by his two dogs, Sasha and Too; his three sons, Jeffery Reuben, Stephen Jennings, and Kevin Lee, Stephen's wife, Katie, and their twin daughters, Avery Claire and Madison Elizabeth, all of Austin, TX; and his brothers, Charles Michael Cole of Idaho Falls, ID and Donald Cole and wife, Kristie Brown of Estancia, NM. Judge Cole was born on October 10, 1932 in Memphis, TN, to Reuben Echols and Elizabeth Patricia Cole. His family moved to New Mexico in 1935 for the construction of Conchas Dam. After graduating from Albuquerque High School, he earned a Civil Engineering degree from New Mexico State University in 1954. Following his service in the military, he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico and served as a clerk to the New Mexico Supreme Court. He practiced law with the Botts, Botts, and Mauney firm. He married the former Nancy Claire Mayland in 1964. In 1976, he was appointed to the Second Judicial District where he received both the respect of his colleagues and awards for his service. He was named Outstanding Judge of the Year by the Albuquerque Bar Association in 1984 and received the State Bar of New Mexico's Outstanding Judicial Service Award in 1986. After a brief relapse to private practice, he recovered and returned to the bench until he retired in 1997. That year he accepted a position as an administrative judge for the Social Security Administration, where he remained until he retired in June of this year. He was loved more than he knew, and he will be dearly missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 22, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE. COLE -- Nancy Mayland Cole, born June 29, 1940, was unexpectedly called by her Lord on August 13, 2005, to join her father, Jennings Lewis Mayland; her mother, Dorothy Blinn Mayland; and her sister, Janet Mayland Lindberg. She is survived by her sister, Lois Mayland; her three sons, Jeffrey Reuben, Stephen Jennings, and Kevin Lee; Stephen's wife, Katie, and their twin daughters, Avery Claire and Madison Elizabeth. Nancy was a loving mother and grandmother. A longtime elementary school teacher with APS, she invested her life in the lives of others. Nancy loved and was loved by her friends and family alike, and she will be greatly missed. COLLINS -- Darrel Collins died on Friday, August 12, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Virginia on June 1, 1922. He migrated to Oregon in 1949 with his wife and daughter. He worked in the lumber industry and public utilities until his retirement in 1984. He later lived in Arkansas and most recently in New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor; daughter, Donna and her husband, Don McTaggart.

DAVIS -- Farris E. Davis, age 36, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2005. Before moving to Albuquerque he had been a resident of Bosque Farms, NM, and graduated from Los Lunas High School in 1987. Farris worked as a Medical Lab Technician for over 17 years and was presently employed by St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar. Farris was preceded in death by his father, Farris Davis; his maternal grandfather, Gilbert McLemore; and his father-in-law, Richard Bonaguidi. He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; four sons, Keano of Cortez CO, Logan, Connor and Kaleb; and one daughter, Hannah, all of Albuquerque; his mother, Marlene Davis of Bosque Farms; two sisters, Andrea and family, Levi and Cody, and Kallene and husband, Benje and family, Kirsten and Kelsey; and brother, Allen of Denver, CO; paternal grandparents, Farris and Gladys Davis; maternal grandmother, Mable McLemore of Tennessee; mother-in-law, Judy Bonaguidi; and three brothers-in-law, Eric, Russell, and David Bonaguidi, and their families. Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 20, 2005, with a visitation from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. and a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Farris was much loved and will be greatly missed. GARCIA -- J. Gilbert Garcia, 73, a resident of Colorado and New Mexico, passed away on August 15, 2005. Mr. Garcia, the son of the late J.B. and Sophia Garcia, was preceded in death by his son, J. Christopher Garcia; his sister, Bertha Abeyta; and brother, Bill Garcia. He is survived by his sons: J.B. Garcia II, J. Adolph, J. Vincent, and J. Martin Garcia and wife, Rene; five granddaughters; two grandsons; his former wife and mother of his children, Dolores Garcia; and other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him. Gilbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950 - 1954. HANSEN -- Camilla Ann (Cam) Hansen, age 67, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 20 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Skip Hansen, of 50 years of marriage; two daughters, Maureen Pape and husband, Kevin and Mary O'Brien and husband, Brien, all of Iowa; a sister, Mary Darveaux of Nebraska; two brothers, Jim Conway, also of Nebraska, and Dennis Conway of Iowa; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Avery Hansen (2000). Mrs. Hansen was a longtime member of the Albuquerque Boat Club. HARRIS -- Roger Eugene Harris, 46, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2005. He was a resident of Albuquerque for the past eight years. He was born on December 6, 1958 in Cleburne, TX. Roger was a loving husband to Laurie Harris for 23 years. He is survived by his children, Kate Johnson and husband, Jeremy and by his son, Ethan Harris; his parents, Gene and Lois Harris; 17 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Jordan Johnson. Roger loved life and his family; he enjoyed camping, fishing, four wheeling and music. He will be greatly missed. JOHNSON -- Elizabeth Pettine Johnson passed away on August 17, 2005. It is with pride and love that we announce this passing of our sophisticated and elegant Aunt. Born on June 29, 1912 in Las Vegas, NM to Miguel Pettine and Virginia Berardinelli Pettine of Isernia, Italy, she was the last surviving child of thirteen. She received her degree from Highlands University. She was an outstanding educator for over 40 years with the Las Vegas School District, completing her career as principal. She was one of the last living documented historians of Las Vegas, NM. She resided in Las Vegas, NM until 2003. She then moved to Albuquerque, where she was cared for by family members, Betty Macklin Hoover, Monica Pino, Michelle Pino, and Aaron Pino. Her private caretakers were Connie Aragon and Josie Chavez, and her Presbyterian Hospice caretaker was Lewis Sawatsky. She is preceded in death by her precious nephew, Marvin G. Pettine; niece, Karen Pettine Martinez; and all of her siblings. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who she spoiled and loved with all of her heart. JORDAN -- IRVINE G. Prominent Albuquerque surgeon Dr. Irvine G. Jordan passed away at his home the evening of Monday, August 15, 2005. A native of Dallas, TX, Dr. Jordan was a graduate of Texas A & M University and Tulane University School of Medicine. He served as a battlefield surgeon and commander of a MASH unit in the Korean War, and settled in Albuquerque in 1956 where he was a senior partner in Albuquerque Orthopedic Associates. He retired from medical practice in 1985, but stayed active by devoting his time to Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church and to charitable activities including Habitat for Humanity, and by exercising his considerable artistic talents with the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Dr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Jean Rentz; three children, Robert, Ann, and Jennifer; and six grandchildren. One son, Douglas, preceded him in death. His family remembers him as a man of great character and generosity on whose love and support all could depend, and they will miss him immeasurably. KARO -- Carmelita Karo, longtime resident, passed away while in Colorado. She was a resident of Albuquerque since the early 40's, coming from Wyoming to work with the Navy in the war effort. KIDD -- John E. Kidd, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Sunday, August 14, 2005. He was born in London, England in 1928. Mr. Kidd is survived by his wife, Ellen Kidd of Albuquerque; daughter, B.J. LOVE -- Frances Love, 86, resident of Albuquerque NM, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 15, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Love of 55 years; a loving brother, Buster Seal; and eight children: Gladys Ansley and husband, Grant, Richard Buhrle, Evelyn Spears and husband, Charlie, John Buhrle and wife, Jackye, Sandy Sanford and husband, JR., Charles G. Love, Joni S. Emswiler, Dawson Miller and wife, Judy. She was blessed by the love of 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Frances was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church for 42 years and a member for over 40 yrs. of the New Mexico Rebecca's IOOF, where she held numerous offices. Frances opened her doors to many unfortunate children and helped guide their lives with love and patients. She was gifted with many talents such as being a skilled seamstress; having an amazing "green thumb" and love of nature; a love for music and the ability to delight and entertain her family with her harmonica playing; and the love gifts that she made by hand were precious treasures to those lucky enough to receive them. There were no strangers in her life, a beautiful smile; a warm hello and a hug were her invitations to friendship. We may have lost one of the most beautiful flowers from our worldly garden, but God's garden has just been increased by her blossom. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 11:00am at St. Andrews United Methodist Church; 3905 Las Vegas Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. MCLAUGHLIN -- Elizabeth M. "Betty" McLaughlin, 88, a resident of Belen, NM for 33 years, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2005. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belen. Betty worked in the bookkeeping department at First National Bank of Belen for 14 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed attending services at her church each week and volunteering wherever she was needed. She was a very talented seamstress and created many beautiful pieces of crochet and fine stitchery. Her relatives and many loving friends will miss her dearly. Her laugh, her energy, her cheerful spirit, and loving heart will always be remembered. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Clarence McLaughlin in 1998. She is survived by her brother, Eugene Hoadley and his wife, Betty of Illinois, and a cousin, Paul McGarrah of Indiana. All Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Belen on Saturday, August 20, 2005 beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m., the Funeral Service following at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Bruce Baker officiating. MULLINS -- Joseph J. Mullins, 75, died at his home on the morning of August 18, 2005. Mullins grew up in Clanton, AL, where his father, Joseph Johnson Mullins, Sr., practiced law and later served as a Circuit Judge. From Clanton, Mullins attended Washington & Lee, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Mullins then attended Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1955. After law school, Mullins served in the United States Army. In 1959, after practicing law with his father in Clanton for several years, Mr. Mullins moved to Albuquerque and began practicing with Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, P.A. For the next forty-six years, Mr. Mullins provided invaluable guidance and aid to countless clients, colleagues, and friends, earned wide renown and respect as an attorney, and became a pillar in the Albuquerque legal community. Mullins married his great love, Lynn Tittmann, in Albuquerque in 1969. Mullins is survived by Lynn; their two children, Cerianne Mullins Braun, of the law firm Peifer, Hanson & Mullins, P.A, and Meg Mullins Wolfley, an author; and by two grandchildren, Evelyn Starr Wolfley and Tipton Mullins Wolfley. Mullins is also survived by a daughter from his first marriage, Melinda Mullins-Bryant; and a stepson, Chris Mullins. Mullins, an accomplished pianist himself, was a music lover and a loyal supporter of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Mullins devoted himself to education, pursuing his own intellectual interests and remaining a vibrant alumni of his Alma Mater throughout his life. His greatest treasure was his family for whom he provided innumerable gifts of spirit, laughter, and wisdom. He will be deeply missed. RAMBES -- Richard Manuel Rambes went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2005 at the age of 51. He was born on August 9, 1954 in Albuquerque, NM. Richard proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a bartender and a member of the DAV, VFW and was a past Commander for the American Legion Post 13. He is survived by his wife, Rose Newman-Rambes; father, Emilio L. Rambes; mother-in-law, Evelyn Perry; his son, Richie Rambes; daughter, Shawnase Marie Rambes-Lee; stepsons, Cable Perry and Michael Perry; stepdaughter, Michelle Perry; brother, Robert J. Rambes and wife, Bernadette; sister, Pearl Maldonado; brother-in-law, Bob Clark; sisters-in-law, Ladena Clark, Katrina Cash, and Sonita Perry; grandson, Sebastian Lee; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Ramsey and Bunny. He will be deeply missed by all. He has gone home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Candie (Dulcenia) Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo was born in Sedillo Hill, NM on May 2, 1920. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Dorothy Martinez and husband, Charlie, Wilma Eylicio and husband, John, Jerry Trujillo and wife, Esther, Leo Trujillo and wife, Lorraine, Mary Abeyta, Andy Trujillo, and Joe Trujillo; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Candie (Dulcenia) Trujillo; his parents, Placida Baca and step-father, Luis Baca, his father, Leonardo Trujillo; sons, Ruben and Ernie Trujillo; a grandson, Michael Abetya; son in law, Candy Abeyta; two daughters in law, Socorro and Marlene Trujillo; two brothers, Fidencio (Fencho) Baca and Adeleito (Leito) Baca. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army. He received a Purple Heart and two Silver Star Awards for Gallantry in Action in Germany. A Rosary was recited Thursday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel by Jimmy Rael. A final visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose de Los Durans Mission, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW by Monsignor Leo Lucero. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Military Honors by the United States Army. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chuck Martinez, Patrick Martinez, Clemente Abeyta, Andrew Abeyta, Leroy Eylicio, Gabriel Eylicio, Diego Trujillo and Samuel Trujillo. WALKER -- LEONA MAY KERR. Our loving Mother, Leona May Kerr Walker, 89, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005. She was born May 19, 1916 in Ariel, WA. Survivors include two sons, Steven M. and wife, Mary Walker of Albuquerque and Woodrow M.C.
