ARAGON -- Jose Antonio Aragon, joined our Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 5, 2004. Jose was born on May 2, 1921 to Pedro Aragon and Francescita Orona Aragon, who have preceded him in death. Jose was a lifelong resident of Los Lunas, where he and his wife, Albina raised their family. He was employed and retired from the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy. Jose loved farming and ranching and enjoyed being outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Albina O. Aragon of the family home in El Cerro, New Mexico; his four sons, Joe and his wife, Manuela, Albino, Andres, and Matthew Aragon, all of Los Lunas, New Mexico; his seven grandchildren, Valerie, Anthony, Tristian, Shane, Charity, Veronica, and Phillip Aragon; three special family members, Jenee, Melissa, and Steve; five brothers; two sisters; and many other family and friends. BABB -- David Daniel Babb, 75, died on June 4, 2004 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Sara W. Babb; a sister, Elaine B. Chastain and her husband, Dr. Richard Chastain of Amarillo; a brother, Burton A. Babb and wife, Eleanor Babb of Dallas; a brother-in-law, Dr. John Wilhelm and wife, Ann of La Plata, Maryland; two nieces and many nephews. David was born and raised on the east coast. He graduated from MIT in 1950 with degrees in electrical engineering, and later with a graduate degree in physics. He worked in those fields for 40 years. He first came to New Mexico in 1960 and retired here in 1990. David enjoyed skiing, golf, exploring New Mexico and jeeping in Colorado. Special thanks go to Frank Torres M.D., to Michael Bivin, R.N., the staff at AmberCare Hospice and the staff at Montibello Health Care for their support and good care. Very dear friends Robin Johnson and husband David Wilson are much appreciated for helping to provide Dave with his daily cigar for many months. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial with family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the NM Boys & Girls Ranch at 6209 Hendrix Rd NE, Albuquerque, 87110.

BEALL -- Ray Jack Beall, 74, died Saturday, June 5, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annadene Beall of Peralta, NM; son, Bobby Beall and wife, Jan; grandchildren, Ryan and Billy Beall of Peralta, NM and Amber Beall of Baton Rouge, LA; brothers, Bobby L. Beall and wife, Emily of Albuquerque; Larry D. BEARDSWORTH -- Donald E.. Beardsworth Jr., 66 years old and a resident of Albuquerque passed away June 2, 2004. Don was born March 28, 1938 in Muskogee, OK. He was manager of the Arizona Bank in Arizona, owner of the Wagonwheel Restaurant in Tombstone, AZ, President of the Arizona Hospital Board in Sierra Vista, AZ and Associate of Wells Fargo Mortgage in Albuquerque. Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy; mother, Rosemary Beardsworth; aunt, Bobbie Stauss; brother, Jerry Beardsworth; and sister, Mary Anderson; four children, Michael, Deanna, Debbie and Carolyn; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date in Arizona for family members and close friends.

BRADSHAW -- Janet Virginia Bradshaw, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 7, 2004. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. All who knew her were blessed by her compassion and tenderness. Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob"; sister, JoAnn; loving grandson, Mike Gardner; and precious great-granddaughter, Jazzmin Johnston. She is survived by her three brothers, four children and their spouses. Sharon and Dell Gardner, Greg and Sharon Bradshaw, Robin and Ben Wiggins, Carol and Raymond Molina and adopted daughter, Bernice Gutierrez. Janet was blessed with nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She will truly be missed. BURRIS -- Lloyd L. Burris, 1st Sergeant, (Ret.), U.S. Army, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, June 6, 2004. Lloyd was born Friday, August 31, 1928 in Queen City, Texas. He served in Korea and Vietnam and served in the Army for 26 years. Lloyd was an avid volunteer with the Republican Party and numerous military affiliations. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Burris; son, John M. Burris of Phoeniz, AZ; one brother, John Roy Burris; two sisters, Virginia Pelot and husband, Dave and Mary Lou McKeever and husband, Mike all of Portland, OR; and various other family members outside the state of New Mexico. Services will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. CARSON -- James S. Carson, born in Glendale, CA on June 6, 1940, Jim passed away on June 3, 2004. Cherished by wife, Ann; and daughter, Cindy; family in California, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, and friends across North and South America, Jim received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly and went to work for IBM, later receiving an MBA from Cal State Fullerton. He retired from IBM and PNM. On an archaeological expedition to Guatemala in 1977, Jim met the love of his life, Ann. They moved to Albuquerque from Fresno in 1985 and soon became active in historic preservation. Jim was a loyal member of the Fresno County Archaeological Society, the Albuquerque Archaeological Society, the Albuquerque Historical Society, and a mainstay of Huning Highlands Historic District. He and Ann were organizers and hosts of the annual "Dickens of a Dinner" home tour, and, since 1987, participants in the Southwest Institute. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Albuquerque Museum Photo Archive, 2000 Mountain Rd. NW, 87104.

CARTER -- Ray S. Carter, Jr., 78, a longtime Albuquerque Pharmacist, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2004. He is survived by his sons, Alan Carter and wife, Inez of Aztec, NM and Ray S. "Sol" Carter III and wife, Elaine of Blackfoot, ID; daughters, Rebecca Broome of Albuquerque and Barbara Cole and husband, DeWayne of Stanley, NM; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; stepchildren, Mike Goodwin, Cyndi Goodwin, and Alyson Kite and husband, Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann F. Davalos Carter in March 1997. Ray was born in Quinlan, TX on October 17, 1925 to Ray S. Carter Sr. and Florence A. Greene. They moved to Artesia, NM in 1936 and he graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in 1943. Ray served in the United States Air Force from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 1955 and moved to Albuquerque where he opened Carter Drugs on Rio Grande Blvd. From 1967 to 1987 he worked for Skaggs Family Pharmacy and then Smith's Pharmacy from 1987 until retiring in 1990. He continued to work part time as a relief pharmacist until 2002. He was a past member of the BPOE, VFW and American Legion. Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. COOK -- Margaret A. "Peggy" (Talbot) Cook, of Pinellas, Park, FL, age 76, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at the Largo Medical Center in Florida. She was the wife of 49 years to Robert W. Cook, Sr. She had been a resident of Lansdale, PA until 1960. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Anna B. (Pascoe) Talbot. She had lived in Albuquerque from 1960 until retiring to Florida in 1997. Mrs. Cook had been an antique dealer, and owned and operated for 23 years the Copper Kettle Antique Shop in Albuquerque. She had also been associated with several auction companies as an appraiser and consultant. While living in Albuquerque, she belonged to the Eastern Hills Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepson, Robert W. Cook, Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; two nieces, Robin K. Pukalo of South Wales, NY, and Candy L. Walsh of Allentown, PA; two nephews, Brent C. Talbot of Hatfield, PA and Christopher W. Talbot of Southampton, NJ; cousin, Robert H. Dieckmann of Phila, PA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher H. Talbot; and a step-daughter, Sharon Lee Cook. Funeral Services and interment were held in Pennsylvania. FERRIS -- Charles A. Ferris, at the age of 78, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Community. Charles served his country in the Air Force and Army as a teletype operator until his honorable discharge in 1947. He was employed at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1947 as an engineering technician and retired June 4, 1981. Over those years Charles received several outstanding and superior performance awards. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Emma, of 55 years; his son, Jerry, and his wife, Crystal; his daughters, Magdalene, and husband, Paul Padilla, Lorrie and husband, Juan Segovia, Marie and husband, Daniel Hoagland; eight grandchildren, Lisa Ferris, Tim Padilla and wife, Sonia, Stephanie and husband, Michael Peters, Darlene Padilla, Jackie & Sandra Segovia, Courtney & Evan Hoagland; two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Marissa Padilla. GOLDSWORTHY -- Ruth Brock Goldsworthy, also known as "Brock" and "Goldie," a longtime former resident of Albuquerque passed away in her sleep May 2, 2004 in Green Valley AZ. Born in Gallup, NM April 20, 1914, she grew up in Gamerco and attended the University of New Mexico from 1932-36 graduating with a BS in Elementary Education and Arts and Science. After teaching one year, she married Fred Goldsworthy, a civil engineer. His career led them to southern New Mexico and then to Washington state where their daughter, Patricia was born. Ruth maintained the family home while Fred worked on various dam sites and for ALCOA during WWII. In 1950, the family returned to Albuquerque and Ruth taught First Grade at Whittier Elementary School until 1977 when she retired. Throughout her adult life she was active in Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Mortar Board Alums, the UNM Alumni Association, and in later years, AAER and NMAER (retired teachers), and many other activities including an antiques study group and an archaeology society in AZ. She moved to Green Valley AZ in 1997 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (AKA Sylvia) and Phil Felix. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1974; her three brothers, Joseph, Porter, and Paul Brock; and her parents, Henry F. Brock and Ora P. Hester Brock. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2004 in the Bobo Room of Hodgin Hall on the UNM campus. Following the Memorial, her ashes will be scattered in the Sandia Mountains. Donations may be made in her name to the University of New Mexico or to your favorite charity.

GRIEGO -- Cipriana Griego entered eternity on Sunday, June 6, 2004. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Arlene Rosalie Griego; and her husband of 65 years, Benjamin Griego. Cipriana was born in Mangas, NM., February 27, 1917 and spent her childhood in that area and Lemitar, NM. She married Benjamin Griego December 1, 1930 in Abeytas, NM., and they lived in and around the Las Nutrias area until they moved to Barstow, California in 1953. Cipriana was a housewife and devoted, loving mother with very deep family values. Although simple in her ways of life, her wisdom, courage, and ability to teach was abundant. She returned to her native New Mexico in 1999, where she enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Cipriana is survived by her three sons, Nazario and wife, Lala, Aniceto "Ernie", Rumaldo Joe and wife, Helen; 16 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and seven great- great- grandchildren. Services and viewing will be held at San Isidro Mission in Las Nutrias. A viewing will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 followed by the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2004. GURULE -- Ofimiano (Ofie) Gurule 81, a lifelong New Mexico resident, born November 21, 1922 died Saturday, June 5, 2004. Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and beloved friend. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Gurule and twin sons. He is survived by his girlfriend Bea Smith (B-Foo), his daughters Tonie and husband Antonio Mendez, Evelyn Carrillo-Randy Sanchez, Clara and husband Anthony W. Duran, Lisa and husband Jim Fulcher; grandchildren: Gregory Carrillo Jr. and wife Debbie, Patrick Carrillo and wife Shelly, Michael Mendez, Adrianna Rose Mendez, Andrew Briones and wife Tabitha, Stephanie Carrillo, and Dustin Huff; great-grandchildren: Kimberly 13, Jessica 11, Miranda 12, Ailsa 5, Isaiah 3, AJ 3, Alexis 3, Victoria Rose 2, and one on the way. One brother Pablo Gurule, five sisters Dora, Servana, Lydia, Mary Helen, and Patsy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a WWII veteran, retired from the Veterans Hospital with 35 years. He was a lab technician supervisor, member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, member of Los Madrugadores Golf Association and the Old Timers Golf Association. He has many friends who will remember him as an avid sportsman who enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and horse-racing. He loved his garden. HEREFORD -- Col. J. Pierce Hereford USAF (Ret.), 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, June 6, 2004. He was born in Nevada, MO on October 15, 1916. Growing up in the Ozarks during the Depression, he learned the value of hard work. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring the surrounding rural areas. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in 1940, then attended the University of Nebraska, 1940-1942. There, he met and married the former Mary Erna Motl, who preceded him in death on September 3, 2001. From March until July 1942 he was a weather instructor at Basic Pilot School, Randolph Field, Texas. Thereafter, he joined the Office of Strategic Services, with which he remained until the War's end. During July to August 1946 he was on active duty with the Air Force; he returned to active duty in July 1947, after receiving a masters degree in geography from the University of Nebraska. After qualifying as a navigator, he flew in B-36, B-29, and B-47 aircraft. In 1958, still on active duty, he returned to the University of Nebraska, earning a doctorate in geography two years later. He was then assigned to the Air Force Academy as associate professor of geography, a position he held until a stroke forced his retirement in June 1962. Colonel Hereford retired with his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1964, where he engaged in the real estate business. Actively interested in the treatment of stroke victims, he was the founding president of the Albuquerque Stroke Club. He is survived by three children, Joseph Jr., David, and Martha Scott, and five grandchildren. HORGAN -- Kenneth F. Horgan, 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 7, 2004. HUSMAN -- Gordon J. Husman, 75, retired USAF, loving husband of Sheila Husman, father of sons Eric Husman of Las Cruces, and Mark Husman of Albuquerque, and daughter Stephanie Telge and husband Frank, died on Friday, June 4, 2004 after a long battle with Leukemia. Gordon had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1968. After retiring from the USAF, Gordon worked for Control Data Corporation, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community and Knights of Columbus. Gordon loved sports, especially soccer and racquetball. He was the first soccer coach at La Cueva High School and numerous other teams for over 20 years. A prayer vigil will be recited on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. JONES -- Norma L. Jones, longtime Albuquerque artist, died peacefully on June 6, 2004 after a long recurring illness. Norma moved to Albuquerque in 1963 and traveled extensively around the world as an adult. Her paintings have been described by critics as analogous to poetry and music. She won numerous awards at competitions and shows throughout the West. She was an avid skier, dancer, hiker and gardener. In addition to her many friends, Norma is survived by a sister, Ruth of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Ilah and son, David of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Campbell of Vienna, VA; three grandsons; a niece and a nephew. We will miss her gentle spirit and her inspirational zest for life. Since her retirement from the Department of Energy, Jamie had been very active in her community serving on several boards and associations. She was an avid sportswoman who enjoyed snowmobiling, water skiing and hunting. SHIBATA -- Thomas M. Shibata Thomas M. Shibata, a longtime resident of both Gallup, NM and Kingman, AZ was called home to the Lord after a long illness on May 25, 2004. Cremation has taken place. Thomas was born on December 23, 1912, in Gallup, NM, the second son of Roy Shibata and Yei Fujisawa. Thomas made many friends during his travels throughout the United States and will be best remembered as a person who cared greatly for the welfare of others and as a person who gave freely of his time to those in need.
