Obituary for JONES

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday June 09, 2004

Norma L. Jones, longtime Albuquerque artist, died peacefully on June 6, 2004 after a long recurring illness. Norma moved to Albuquerque in 1963 and traveled extensively around the world as an adult. Her paintings have been described by critics as analogous to poetry and music. She won numerous awards at competitions and shows throughout the West. She was an avid skier, dancer, hiker and gardener. In addition to her many friends, Norma is survived by a sister, Ruth of St. Louis, MO; daughter, Ilah and son, David of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Campbell of Vienna, VA; three grandsons; a niece and a nephew. We will miss her gentle spirit and her inspirational zest for life. A gathering of friends and family is scheduled for Friday, June 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Church of Religious Science at 3320 San Pedro NE. In lieu of flowers, and because Norma was a mentor, please send donations to Wise Men & Women Mentorship Program, 271-2066.
