Ayres -- Cecil Frank Ayres of Meadow Lake, NM, a WW II Navy Veteran, passed away on November 8, 2002 at Laurel Heights Nursing Home. He was born in Raton, NM on February 9, 1918. He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents Ora and Joseph Ayres; sisters Agnes Ayres, Myrtie Ayres, and Viola Davis. Survivors include sons, Erick and wife Sharon of Chandler, Arizona, Rick and wife Kathy, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Rock of Meadow Lake, New Mexico. He is survived by grandchildren Justin Ayres, Travis Ayres, ErickaGhahreman, Troy Ayres, Melissa Shelton, and great-grandson, Coby Shelton, many nieces and nephews, especially the Helen and Marion Davis family of Albuquerque, and Vincente Garcia of Meadow Lake, NM, a very good friend of Betty and Cecil for many years. Survivors also include his brother Clarence Ayres, and sisters Alice Stancel, Kay Akin, and Sally Heath. At his request, no services are to be held. Donations may be made to the Presbyterian Hospice. Beck -- Lt. Col. (Ret.) Allan F. Beck died Thursday, November 7, 2002 at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee of complications from kidney failure. Lt. Col. Beck was born July 3, 1917 in Escanaba, Michigan. He went to school in Escanaba and graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class in 1935. After entering the Army Air Corps, he was stationed at Randolph Field and Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. Upon leaving active duty he served in the USAF Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Col. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a nuclear physicist and retired after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Oscar and Anna Jackson Beck; sister, Thelma LeDuc of Escanaba, Michigan. He married Louise Duggin and their 59 year marriage brought them three children who survive, Ellen (John) Anderson, David (Cindy) Beck and Elizabeth Estrada; five grandchildren; brothers, Arol (Dudley, deceased) and Jack (Bette) Beck, of Escanaba, Michigan. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 11, 2002 at Woodlawn Funeral Home with services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Private interment will be at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Bloch -- Merritt P. Bloch, 89, died Thursday, October 10, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his daughter, Evelyn Zlotkin; son, Rob Bloch; grandchildren, Stacy and Ian and his wife, Kelley; great-grandchildren, Jonnathon, Cheyenne, Kaylee and Emily; and many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; daughter, Joanne; and sister, Judy. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, was an auxiliary police sergeant with the NYC Auxiliary Police. He was a charter member of the Screen Actors Guild, a volunteer with the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis ( now the March of Dimes), and other various organizations. He owned Merit Audio-Visual Co. and supplied equipment to New Mexico's hotels, convention center, Pope Joy Hall and many others during the mid 70's through the early 90's. Cremation and interment have taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, with Rabbi Joseph Black officiating. Daby -- Robert Lee December 22, 1921-November 1, 2002 Aviation Ordinance Chief in the Navy, Survivor of the U.S.S. Lexington, 32nd Degree Mason, Member of the Shrine Band (bass drum), and lived life to the fullest as evidenced by his membership in various motorcycle clubs. He bought his first motorcycle in 1979, a red Honda 750. He later proceeded to purchase a Honda Gold Wing. From there, he joined the New Mexico Retreads, Gold Wing Aspencade, and the Gold Wing Road Riders-Chapter F motorcycle clubs. He enjoyed traveling on his Honda Gold Wing with wife, Crucita throughout the United States for Lexington Reunions. He could also be seen around the neighborhood with granddaughter, Sabrina, in back, going on errands, drives to the Sandia mountains and Cedar Crest for the scenery, as well as attending the club breakfasts held at HomeTown Buffet on Eubank. His age of 80 years did not stop him from enjoying the best things in life and adventure. After a long, full life he passed away of a heart attack and complications at Presbyterian Anna Kaseman Hospital with granddaughter and caregiver, Sabrina Busico, daughters, Juanita Busico and Laura Daby-Anderson at his bedside. We, the family were truly blessed with the time we had with him. He will not be forgotten. All who knew him are welcome to share in his memory. Domme -- Clarence John Domme passed away peacefully Thursday November 7, 2002. He was born January 1, 1917 to Aloysius and Elizabeth Domme in Topeka, Kansas. Clarence was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, who he cared for 7 years; his parents; his son-in-law Lawrence Morelli; four brothers Albert, Vincent, Edward, and William and one sister Sophie Chiordi.¯Clarence is survived by three daughters, Rose Marie Morelli, Peggy Skertich and¯ husband Jim, and Francine Conty; six grandchildren, Rene Vigil and husband Joe, Cheryl Morelli, Debra Kish, Jim Skertich, Jean Marie Skertich, Judy Skertich; three great-grandchildren, Christina Marie McGee, Katherine Kish and Elliott Kish; three great-great grandchildren Alexandra, Mickayla, and Lauren McGee; three sisters, Sister Frances Cecilia of Leavenworth, Kansas, Margaret Thies of St. Louis, and Mary Ann Padgett and husband William of Topeka, Kansas; sisters-in-law Wilma Tusing and Kathryn (Peachie) Domme and many nieces and nephews.¯Clarence graduated from St. Mary's High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and liked the Yankees and Notre Dame football. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for eighteen years and retired from Sandia Laboratories after 25 years. Ehrman -- Edward F. Ehrman, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Wednesday, November 6, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, I. M. Ehrman of Cedar Crest, NM; daughters, Diana Lynn and husband, Richard L. S. Herrera, of Sandia Park, NM and Beverly Ann and husband, Doug R. Gould, of Ruidoso, NM; 3 grandchildren, Brian Eugene Herrera of New Haven, CT, Saudi E. T. Herrera of Boston, MA, April Gould Ontiveres and husband, Carlos Ontiveres of Ruidoso, NM; sister, Irene McMann of Cedar Rapids, IA and 3 brothers, Harry Ehrman of Main Amana, IA, Willard Ehrman of Cedar Rapids, IA and Lloyd Ehrman of St. Paul, MN. Mr. Ehrman was a 30-year employee with Sandia National Labs and was one of the scientists developing space exploration through his work with connectors and transistors. Groff -- June Groff, 59, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 7, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Richard Groff of Albuquerque; two daughters, Lara Ann Groff and husband, Neal Ambrose and Felicia Christine White and husband, Todd all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Javier and Annick Ambrose, Nathan White and a baby boy on the way; mother, Alta Lee Briscoe of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Byrd Briscoe II and wife, Maryvonne of Albuquerque. June is preceded in death by her father. She was a 3rd grade teacher at A.P.S. for 10 years; after she retired she was a volunteer at the Albuquerque Animal Humane Society and was a docent at the Albuquerque Museum. June was a beloved wife and mother and dedicated grandmother and will be missed by all. Kindle -- Edith Aloma Kindle, 72, died October 23, 2002 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Services have been held. Born July 24, 1930 (Procter, Oklahoma), also the birthplace of her Cherokee mother Alice Sanders DeGrazio and to father Charles Goodluck (Navajo). Married Eldean Kindle. Talented child prodigy pianist with perfect pitch enjoyed sharing her talent. In Albuquerque she will be remembered for accompanying talented vocalists and played with the Albuquerque High School Orchestra. Edith Aloma, a benevolent person, traveled between Oklahoma, Wichita, and Albuquerque and worked diligently wherever she called home. She was employed at Palo Duro Senior Center and cared for her mother. They were both members of the United Central Methodist Church until leaving Albuquerque in 1994. She is survived by brother, Don Charles DeGrazio and wife Karen of Newton, Kansas; sister, Mary Poitra and sons of Albuquerque; sister, Charlotte Goodluck of Flagstaff, Arizona and many friends and relatives. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church Chapel, 1615 Copper NE. Memorial donations can be made to the CUMC music ministry.

Leverette -- Thomas H. Leverette, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1998, died Thursday, November 7, 2002. He is survived by his son, Bob Leverette and wife, Billie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Susan Davila of Placitas, Thomas Leverette of Dayton, OH, Nancy Patterson of Mesa, AZ and John Leverette of Albuquerque; and eight great-grandchildren, Mr. Leverette was born and raised in New Orleans, LA to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Leverette. He graduated from college with an Associate Engineering Degree. Mr. Leverette married Helen Woods and they moved to Bogalusa, LA, where he worked for the local paper mill. After WWII began, Mr. Leverette began working for the federal government as a civil servant. During his 30 years of Civil Service, he participated in developing unique military equipment operational testing techniques that are still in use today. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Maestas -- Martha Ortega Maestas, 91, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully November 8, 2002, in her home after a long and fruitful life.¯She was born in Chimayo, New Mexico, the third of five children to Nicasio and Virginia Trujillo Ortega, a world-renowned family of weavers.¯Martha is a graduate of Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and St. Joseph College in Albuquerque.¯She became an elementary school teacher, teaching primary grades in both Santa Fe and Rio Arriba Counties and the Albuquerque Public Schools for many years.¯She was an outstanding educator and dedicated her life to her students and to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sigfredo Maestas, and two brothers, Jose Ramon and Richard Ortega. She is survived by her three children, Olivia Rivera and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; Eli Maestas of Albuquerque, and Albert Maestas and wife, Mary from Tulsa, OK.¯She had 6 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Victor Maestas and wife, Lavone of Placitas, NM, Michael Maestas and wife, Gabriella of San Francisco, CA, Thomas Maestas of Albuquerque, W. Murphy -- Marion J. Murphy, 88, a resident of Rio Rancho for 32 years, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2002. He and his wife, Rachel came to New Mexico from Austin Minnesota. Marion was born July 19, 1914 the son of John P. and Lulu Gregg Murphy in Lyle, Minnesota. He had his own business, Murphy Oil Company, in Austin before retiring and moving to Rio Rancho. Marion had been in the oil business for over 35 years, with his own company for thirteen years. Marion served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., the Rio Rancho Elks Club, and the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. Marion was preceded in death by his son, James Alan Murphy, and one brother, Chester Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Rachel of the family home; children, Jana Edwards and husband, Joe of Placitas, NM, and Jack Murphy of Austin, MN; two brothers, Vernon Murphy of Osage, IA and Richrd Murphy of Austin, MN; two grandchildren, Karianne Johnson and husband Jake of Clarion, IA, and Chadwick Schoenfelder of Rochester, MN; three great-grandchildren, Kayleen, Connor, and Meleah Johnson of Clarion IA; and many nieces and nephews. Norman -- Martha Mae Norman, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2002 after several years of failing health. Martha was born in Trinidad, Colorado on July 16, 1911 to Harry E. and Della Morgan Pople. She is survived by her husband, Donald F. Lorenzo was a member of the American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. He was a founding member of MALDEF and LULAC. Lorenzo served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and the U.S. National Guard until 1953, and the Army Reserves from 1953 to 1955 while attending St. Joseph's College in Albuquerque. He attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico from 1955 to 1957. Lorenzo received his J.D. from American University in 1959. Lorenzo was admitted to practice law in 1959 and achieved the highest score on the bar exam until recently. He was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court. In 1961 he became Chief Counsel to the Senate Public Works Committee and served on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee. Lorenzo served as a loyal assistant to U.S. Senator Dennis Chavez. He also organized the VIVA Kennedy Campaign in the Southwest. Lorenzo returned to New Mexico to practice law and specialized in criminal defense and civil litigation. He had previously served as Director of the Motor Vehicle Department. He was deeply loved and will be missed. Willis -- Dorothy Elizabeth Willis, 93, died on November 4, 2002. She was born in Blandinsville, Illinois, the only child of Bunker and Bessie Hocker Ryan. Previously a resident of Albuquerque in the mid-1950's, she moved to the Bay Area of California before returning to Albuquerque in 1999. She was a avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a life master duplicate bridge player. Survivors include her son, Mark Willis and wife, Jenny of Albuquerque; her daughter, Beatrice Claire Shannon of Jackson, CA; nine grandchildren, Leath MacDonald, Deidre MacDonald, Donald MacDonald, David MacDonald, Maura Currey, Sean Currey, Mark Ian Willis, Seth Willis and Garner Willis; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Frank Willis in 1942; a grandchild, Kaylin Currey in 1957 and a daughter, Sara Lynne Salka in 2002. Wright -- Leigh Stephen Wright, born August 9, 1910 in Jasper, MI, raised on a farm until 1918. He moved to Tucson, AZ where he lived for a short time and attended Tucson High School. Leigh was in the National Guard in Arizona, 158th Infantry. Leigh moved back to Michigan where he attended Muskegon Jr. College and high school. He then moved back to Phoenix and attended University of Arizona. Leigh spent most of his time in Arizona prospecting in the Bradshaw Mountains and searching for the lost Dutchman's Mine. He picked up one surface nugget and gold dust, placer mining. In Phoenix, he was a partner in Wright-Brower Brokerage Company. He developed UKCB crumbled dog food. Leigh sold the company when he went into the postal transportation service in 1940 in Los Angeles, CA. The last 60 years, he has lived in Albuquerque and was employed by the US Postal System as a transportation supervisor on the Santa Fe to Kingman, AZ run. He retired as a supervisor in 1969 after 30 years. Leigh married in 1934 to Virginia Ragan who preceded him in death. He spent much of his time in the Sandia Mountains climbing, hiking, and riding his Honda 90 trail bike. Leigh owned the Wrightway Sprinkler Company for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in New Mexico and Colorado and he fished both states frequently. Leigh was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 59 years and was active in the Wesley Fellowship class as treasurer for 30 years. Leigh distributed many foods to charitable institutions like God's Kitchen, Joy Junction, Boys and Girls Ranch, and St. Martin Hospitality. He is preceded in death by his son, Steve Wright and daughter, Janice Wright. In his final time, he was blessed by the tender care of his three daughters, Sylvia Wright O'Neil, Nola Wright Gearhart, and Marcia Wright Carey and his grandson, Dr. Matt Wright of Monaca, PA. He is survived by his daughters, Sylvia O'Neil and husband, John of Tijeras, Nola Gearhart and husband, Bert of Tijeras, and Marcia Carey and husband, Ernie of Tijeras; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; grandson and extraordinary physician, Dr. Matthew Leigh Wright and wife, Dana of Monaca, PA and their children, Josh, Madison, and Caleb Wright; Jan and Mitch Wright of Aiken, SC, Mark and Nicholas Wright of Ft.
