Auad -- Pilar Auad, age 92, a resident of Manor Care Camino Vista Nursing Home, Albuquerque, for the past seven years, died on January 14, 2000. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Moline. She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Marquez and husband, Louie of Bernalillo; a son, Manuel Auad and wife, Patricia of San Francisco, CA. Mrs. Auad is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Auad was born and raised in Manila, the Philippines, and moved to the United States in 1962 and lived most of her life in San Francisco, CA. In 1988, she moved to Bernalillo. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, corner of Paseo del Norte and Wyoming, on Saturday, February 5, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Celebrant will be the Rev. Fr. Virgil Furfaro, Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Bernalillo.

Burch -- Francis Buckley"Sam" Burch passed away after a longterm illness on January 31, 2000. He had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1957. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Garth Burch; daughters, Gail Sholtis and Thea Smith; grandchildren, Miranda, Christal, Danielle, Tiffany, Lucas, Jennifer, Garth Jr., Brittany and Hannah. Mr. Burch served in the Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Local 401, American Legion Post 49, and the Carpenters Local 411. Family graveside services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Friday, February 4, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. Dad/Grandpa, we love you and will miss you! Fulton -- Catherine Eloise Fulton, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Sunday, January 30, 2000. Eloise was born on August 10, 1914, the daughter of John and Agnes Clinton in Sherman, TX. She was very active in the community. Eloise was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Adah, Chapter #5, Past President of Progress Women's Club, a charter member of Four Hills Country Club, a member of Duke City Bridge Club, and participated in various community activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Fulton in 1983; and brother, Kenneth Clinton of Dallas, TX in 1987. Eloise is survived by her daughter, Carol Beserra and husband, Ronald of Albuquerque; sons, Robert G. Fulton Jr. and wife, Ginger of Bellevue, WA and Kevin Clinton Fulton and wife, Belinda of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Tracey Beserra Derheim and husband, Bruce of Lafayette, CO, Troy Beserra and wife, Melinda of Midland, TX, Bryan Fulton and wife, Hilary of Fairfield, CA, Gary Fulton and wife, Melissa of Bellevue, WA, Dakin Fulton and wife, Lynn of White Fish, MT, Nathan Fulton, and Alex Fulton, both of Bend, OR; great-grandchildren, Garrett Fulton, Emma and Erik Beserra, Brianna Derheim and Cole Fulton. Eloise was a loving mother and grandmother who truly enjoyed living life to its fullest. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Griego -- Steve Griego Sr., age 70, of Grants, passed away Tuesday evening at the Veterans Medical Center in Albuquerque. Mr. Griego was born May 4, 1929 in Sena, New Mexico to Clemente and Josefita Griego. Mr. Griego was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, and was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Mr. Griego is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Griego of the family home; his two sons, John Steve and his wife, Dianne of Albuquerque and Daniel Griego of Grants; his four daughters, Mary Lou and her husband, Keith Gottlieb of Cubero, Kathleen Griego of San Francisco, CA, Diana and her husband, Leon Chavez of Spearfish, SD, and Rebecca Griego of Santa Fe; his two brothers, Benigno Griego of San Rafael and Alejo Griego of Grants; and his two sisters, Maggie Chavez of Grants and Josie and her husband, Onesimo Bustamante of Belen; his eight grandchildren, Kyle and Karl Gottlieb, Steven, Eric and Gregory Chavez and Jason, Joel and Joshua Griego; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Griego was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Josefita Griego; five brothers, Meliton, Jose, Adan Manuel and Luis Griego; and by an infant brother and sister. Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Grants Mortuary Chapel. The Rosary will be Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Fr. Godfrey Blank, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be at Grants Memorial Park with a Veterans Graveside service. Higgins -- Joe F. Higgins, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000. Joe is survived by one daughter, Heidi; three brothers, Bernie, John W., and Larry; two granddaughters, Felicia and Jesslyn, all of Albuquerque. Joe was a graduate of Valley High School and the University of New Mexico, and served in the 44th Army Band of the New Mexico National Guard. Joe was a Probation Officer of the Metro Court for 17 years and was appointed as director of the Pre-Prosecution Program of the District Attorney's Office. His intellect, loyalty and spirit will remain with us always. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Lesea -- Jean Isabel Lesea died on January 27, 2000 in Phoenix, Arizona after a five year battle with cancer. She was born December 12, 1937 in Albuquerque, where she lived most of her life, and moved to Phoenix in 1982. She graduated from Valley High School in 1956. She is survived by her husband, John; her children from her first marriage, Katherine Weber, Patricia Craft, Jeffrey Craig, and Heather Davis, and Jennifer Ames, her daughter from her second marriage. Her legacy includes six grandchildren. Mom loved to sing. Her courage in suffering and strong will extended her life well beyond what anyone thought possible. Rev. Don Benson will officiate a memorial service at Westside Baptist Church, 3021 Todos Santos NW, on February 5, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for the American Cancer Society, 5810 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque 87110.

Matherly -- James Howard Matherly and Flonnie Ellen Matherly. The children of James Howard Matherly and Flonnie Ellen Matherly are saddened to announce the deaths of their parents. Jim died on December 12, 1999, while in Farmington Hills, MI. Flonnie died on December 17, 1999, also while in Farmington Hills. Jim was born in Springfield, MO, on February 8, 1929, to Forrest and Elvina Matherly. After serving in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1947-1949, Jim joined LandAir Corporation in Alamogordo as an operations specialist. Flonnie Bullock was born in Mount Vernon, KY, on December 1, 1931, to Elisha Irvin and Dovie Bullock, and moved to Alamogordo in 1949 to join her brother. Jim and Flonnie married on March 23, 1950. Jim built a career spanning 40 years with LandAir (later renamed DynCorp), relocating to Albuquerque in 1974. He retired in 1994 as Vice-President for Administration, and was well-regarded by his colleagues. Flonnie earned a B.A. in Education and an M.A. in Special Education from the University of New Mexico. She worked for over 20 years as a special education teacher for the Albuquerque Public Schools system. She was recognized by her friends and coworkers as a caring and gifted teacher, and retired in 1994 as Head Teacher at Acoma Elementary. Jim and Flonnie are survived by their three children, James Alan Matherly of San Antonio, TX, Larry Howard Matherly of Farmington Hills, MI, and Cheryl Ann Matherly of Houston, TX; and by their beloved granddaughter, Julia Ellyn Matherly of Farmington Hills, MI. Flonnie was preceded in death by her brothers, Irvin Edwin, John William, Robert Samuel, Kennesaw Mountain, Charles Curtis, James, and Wendell Boyd; and by sisters, Anna Mae Black and Belva Viviana DeBorde. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Roberta Cromer, Rose Elizabeth Wilford, Ruth Ester Nichols, Sarah Anita Young, Wilma Arita Edling, and Francis Alene Dean; and by her brother, Elisha Hiatt Bullock. Jim and Flonnie are interred at the Clear Creek Cemetery in Springfield, MO. The family invites friends to a memorial service to honor Jim and Flonnie at St. John's United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 5, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Milne -- Sara Raynolds Milne was born in Albuquerque on May 23, 1917 and died in Albuquerque on January 30, 2000. She is survived by four sons, Daniel L. Milne and his wife, Jan, Robert L. Milne and his wife, Ann DeHart, Samuel A. Milne and his wife, Beth, and William G. Milne and his wife, Beverley; one daughter, Ruth Milne Schifani; and ten granddaughters. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, William G. Schifani; and her niece, Charlotte Simms, whose love and support over the last years of her life were very much appreciated. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2000 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, in Albuquerque. Reynolds -- Alfred C. Reynolds, 84, a resident of Belen since 1982 and formally of New York, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2000. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. Alfred was a decorated Veteran and ex-Prisoner of World War II. He was also a member of the Army/D.A.V. and the Belen Moose Lodge in Belen, NM. He is survived by his three sons, Alfred G. and his wife, Wendy A. Reynolds of Albuquerque, NM, Edward and his wife, Matty of Miami Springs, FL, and Thomas R. of Whitestone, NY; one granddaughter, Lauren of Miami Springs, FL; one brother, Joseph S. Reynolds and his wife, Barbara of Belen, NM. Alfred is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Scott -- Patty Sue Scott, a loving wife, devoted mother and proud grandmother, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 30, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Patty, a resident of Albuquerque for 17 years, was born and raised in Dearborn, MI and graduated from Michigan State University. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, David W. Scott; daughters, Cristy Nowak and husband, Philip of Bremerton, WA and Sandra Scott of Austin, TX; son, Kenneth Scott of Key West, FL; grandchildren, Sam, Elizabeth and Andrew Nowak, all of Bremerton, WA; sisters, Sandra Butler and husband, William of Albuquerque, Sheryl Whiteford and husband, Fred of Wildwood, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Forrest and Vilroe McGuigan. Patty was an Air Force wife who put her family first and foremost by providing a comfortable, loving home and nurturing care while meeting the challenge of 16 moves in 21 years. She held numerous positions in Officer's Wives Clubs and other volunteer organizations in addition to being a supportive wife during her husband's military and civilian career. When the children left home, she began a working career and following her mother's death, dedicated her life to the aging issues through various professional and volunteer organizations. Patty completed many Master level courses on aging at UNM and earned a Nursing Home Administration license. She was dedicated to her work as Director of Resident Services at The Montebello on Academy and as the President of the Alzheimer's Association, NM Chapter. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and those whose lives the touched. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. Allen W. McCallum and Chaplain Lemuel Boyles, Col (Ret), USAF officiating. Private interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Sloan -- Buster Ray Sloan is gonna be greatly missed by family and friends. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Heat & Frost Local #76 for about 20 years and loved it. He was a very honest man and a great friend. The three most important people in Buster's life were his daughter, Samantha Blair and his parents, Bob and Alice Sloan. He is survived by one brother, Bobby D. Sloan; one sister, Sharon Overson and brother-in-law, Tom Overson; two nephews, Bobby J. Overson and Levi Sloan; three nieces, Shawn Overson, Brandy Sloan and Amber Sloan-Wells; daughter, Samantha Sloan; parents, Bob and Alice Sloan. He was a loving brother and was a great son to his parents, but the most important thing he was a wonderful Daddy to his daughter, Samantha Blair Sloan. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Wakefield -- M. Elaine Wakefield, 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 19 years, died Monday, January 31, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Walker and husband, Bill; son, George"Tom" Wakefield and wife, Mardie, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alicia Sandoval and husband, Mike, Melissa Walker, Ryan Wakefield, Kaitlyn Wakefield and Kelsey Wakefield; great-grandchildren, Austin and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David Walker, whom she so looked forward to seeing on the other side to give him a grandmother's hug; sister, Barbara Blanchard; and infant daughter, Shirley Wakefield. Mrs. Wakefield worked at the Maine Medical Center for 25 years before moving to Albuquerque where she worked at the UNM Hospital Cancer Research Center. Elaine was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Encino House - East, 412 Alvarado SE, with Rev. Winfred Walker officiating. Zlotkin -- Robert"Bob" Zlotkin, 57, a resident of Albuquerque for over 23 years, died Tuesday, February 1, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Evelyn; daughter, Stacy; son, Ian L. and wife, Letha; grandchildren, Jonnathon, Cheyenne and Kaylee; brother, Bernard and wife, Arlene; brother-in-law, Rob Bloch; father-in-law, Merritt Bloch; and many friends and relatives. Bob served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He received the Award of Valor from the City of New York where he served as a volunteer auxiliary policeman. Bob was also a volunteer firefighter in New York and New Mexico, as well as being a member and volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Team. He was also a C.P.R. and First Aid Instructor. He was a member of Congregation Albert for over 20 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing and sports. Services will be held Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana NE, with Rabbi Joseph Black officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
