Nelson -- George R. Nelson, Lt. Col. (Ret), US Army, 89, an Albuquerque resident since 1962, died Monday, January 31, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Gisela Nelson of Albuquerque; daughters, Karin K. Nelson of Denver, CO and Linda L. Maggart and husband, Stephen of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Brie Webb of San Diego, CA and Drue Webb of Albuquerque; sister, Eleanor C. Schiaffino of College Point, NY. Mr. Nelson retired from the US Army with over 20 years service. He was a WWII and A Korean Veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2000 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona Ave, NE, with Rev. Robert Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 411 Broadway SE, 87102.
