Wakefield -- M. Elaine Wakefield, 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 19 years, died Monday, January 31, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Walker and husband, Bill; son, George"Tom" Wakefield and wife, Mardie, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alicia Sandoval and husband, Mike, Melissa Walker, Ryan Wakefield, Kaitlyn Wakefield and Kelsey Wakefield; great-grandchildren, Austin and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David Walker, whom she so looked forward to seeing on the other side to give him a grandmother's hug; sister, Barbara Blanchard; and infant daughter, Shirley Wakefield. Mrs. Wakefield worked at the Maine Medical Center for 25 years before moving to Albuquerque where she worked at the UNM Hospital Cancer Research Center. Elaine was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Memorial Services will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Encino House - East, 412 Alvarado SE, with Rev. Winfred Walker officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 417 Palomas SE, 87108.
