Allen -- Rosemary Allen, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, formerly a resident of Kailua, Hawaii, died Saturday, August 7, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles H. Allen of the family home; daughters, Mary R. Simpson and husband, Richard of Palmdale, CA, Karen L. Christiansen and husband, Chris of Honolulu, HI, and Sue M. Allen of Bosque Farms, NM; son, Carl T. Allen and wife, Neomi of Bosque Farms; grandchildren, Jennifer, Misty, Cacey, Maegan, Catherine, Kaleolani, Ashley and Carlene; great-grandchildren, Nohea and Jeremiah; sisters, Betty Ullmyer of Cave Creek, AZ and Margaret Beeson of Jacksonville, FL. She married in Rockford, IL. Her family and her faith were most important to her. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where she was an office volunteer. She was also a member of St. John Vianney's Catholic Church in Kailua, HI. She was also a trained volunteer with St. Francis Hospice, Honolulu, HI. Ames -- Leslie"Les" Ames, 37, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died Friday, August 6, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Scott B. Ames of Albuquerque; daughter, Kelsie Gilligan of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Ashley Ames of Chicago, IL; step-son, Scotty Ames of Chicago, IL; mother, Joan Kesselhuth of Durango, CO; sister, Sherlyn Glover and husband, Steve of Durango, CO; brothers, Gene Kesselhuth and wife, Rhonda of Bartlesville, OK and Rod Kesselhuth of Durango, CO. She was preceded in dearth by her father, Roland Kesselhuth. Mrs. Ames was a member of Cottonwood Church and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid writer and a former mascot for Durango High School in 1980. Cremation has taken place and services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd. Clayton -- Delia M. Clayton, 80, daughter of well known Albuquerque pioneer physician, Edmund Clayton, and Margaret Chavez Clayton, and direct descendant of Francisco Javier Chaves and Manuel Otero, early governors of New Mexico, died at Presbyterian Hospital on August 10, 1999. She is survived by Hazel Sullivan, her longtime companion; nephews, Francilio and Lorenzo Clayton; grandniece, Mary Margaret Seis; grandnephews, Brian Seis and Christian Gonzales; and cousins, Arthur Stanton, Mercedes Garoffolo, Jose Chavez, Consuelo Renfro and Lorenzo Chavez. No services are planned."

Dawe -- Russell T. (Tom) Dawe left his family and friends to be with the Lord on August 7, 1999. Tom Dawe was born on June 21, 1926 in Gallup, New Mexico to Russell C. and Mable E. Dawe. In 1934 the family moved to Albuquerque. He graduated Albuquerque High School in 1944 the same year he married his highschool sweetheart, Mary Jo Moran. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on August 2. Tom served in the Army Air Corps Cadet Program during World War II. Following his military service Tom studied at Spartan School of Aeronautics from which he graduated in 1946. From 1946 until 1949, he taught aviation at Highlands University in Las Vegas, until he went to work for Carco Air Service as a pilot and mechanic in Albuquerque. He continued pursuing his passion for aviation when he was hired as a pilot with United Airlines in 1953. During his 33 year career with United, he flew every plane in the company's fleet, from the DC-3 to the 747. As a pilot, he represented all of the United Air Line pilots as Chairman of the Master Executive Council for the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA). Following his service with the pilots' union, Tom moved into management, where he was named Chief Pilot for New York and then later for United's flight operations at O'Hare International Airport, United's largest operation as well as the busiest airport in the world. At that time of his retirement from United in 1986, he was a 747 Captain for United in Chicago. In retirement, Tom continued with his love of aviation by restoring vintage aircraft at his home on Mid Valley Airpark in Los Lunas. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen (QBs) and the Los Lunas Escadrille, which met weekly in his hangar at Mid Valley Airpark. At the time of his death, Tom held the oldest Air Frame and Engine (A & E) Mechanics' certificate in New Mexico, having obtained it in 1946. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo, Tom is survived by his mother, Rev. Mable E. Dawe, Pastor of Faith Chapel; his son, Tom and his wife, Melinda Dawe of Albuquerque; a daughter, Mitzi and her husband, Rick Hobson of Corrales; and son, Kevin (KC) Dawe and Kathy Allen Dawe of New Jersey. In addition, Tom is survived by four grandchildren, Ian Tyler, Kevin and Jacob Dawe. His faithful companion, Gus, his Boston Terrier is also at the family home. Pallbearers will be his sons, Tom and K.C.; son-in-law, Rick Hobson; grandsons, Ian and Tyler Dawe; and nephew, Richard Booth. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Tom's beloved Los Lunas Escadrille. In addition, two grandsons, Kevin and Jacob Dawe. Donegon -- Phyllis Jean Donegon was born August 23, 1924 in Davenport, IA to Martin L. and Meta Doehler. She passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 7, 1999. Phyllis graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and she enjoyed using her time and talents to benefit her church. She was the church organist at Christ Lutheran Church in Albuquerque for 20 years and most recently served as the organist at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. She enjoyed learning and she was proficient in using computers for 24 years. She was a member of ADOWGA for many years and she held offices in this organization for four years. In addition to golfing, Phyllis enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made time for her family, her church, and her many friends. She is survived by her husband, Dallas G. Donegon; and children, Gwynne E. Clear and husband, Bruce, C.J. (CT) Thurow and wife, Nancy of Louisville, KY, Pamela K. McPherson and husband, Gary of Las Cruces, Cheryl J. Guyer and husband, Paul, Glen Thurow and wife, Jean, Martha (Marty) Donegon, Ann Donegon Joiner, and Wendy Rodriguez. Along with her husband and children, 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren will greatly miss her. In the words of one of her grandchildren, she was the glue that held us together. Espinosa -- Mrs. Victoria A. Espinosa died August 9, 1999 in Albuquerque at the age of 77. It's hard to say goodbye to you--a mama, a grandma, our Gobo. Words are not enough to say how we all feel. You are extremely precious to all of us. You always put anyone and everyone in front of you, without a second thought. You touched each of our lives so uniquely and beautifully. You going home is hard for us, only because we will miss you and we love you so much. Gobo, your humor, your strength, your will to survive, your inner beauty, the fire that you had--lives in all of us. It is hard to say goodbye. We know now that you are in heaven. We know lots of little angels came for you and you are not alone. We know that now you walk and see. We know that your pain is ceased. We will NEVER, NEVER forget you. We love you. Helm -- Lewis G. Helm, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, died Friday, August 6, 1999 in Farmington, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty J. Helm; one son, Lewis C. Helm of Waukee, IA; daughters, Patricia Dailey and husband, Mike Dailey of Fairfax, VA, Jeannine Helm of Ames, IA, Gay Herrington and husband, Preston Herrington of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Heather, Christopher and Luke Helm, Keary and Kate McHugh, Lacy Dailey, Sarah and Rachel Herrington; brother-in-law, George Hauff; and niece, Dottie Carlton of Chicago, IL. Mr. Helm was born April 24, 1917 in Arlington Heights, IL. He served in WWII as a navigator with the 14th Airforce Flying Tigers. He also served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Helm spent his career as a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, retiring in 1982. He was instrumental in putting colored plastic bands on the necks of migratory waterfowl so a study of their movements could be made by means of binoculars. His hobbies included restoring Model A cars, travel, stamps, books, birdwatching, and being outdoors. A Memorial service will be held August 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any wildlife or environmental conservation charity.

Hickam -- Ralph Hickam passed away August 9, 1999. He was born September 8, 1908 in Hawley, Texas to Fannie and Marion Hickam. Ralph moved to New Mexico in 1944. In his early years, Ralph was a farmer on the plains of West Texas. He gave up farming for a living in 1948 and joined the Iron Workers Union Local #495. He worked in Alaska and Kentucky, also on the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge near Taos; however, he worked most of the time in the Farmington area at the power plants. Ralph retired in 1975 to his home in Bernalillo, where he spent most of his time in his garden. He also loved to dance, hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by the mother of his five children, Lucy E. Hickam; his mother and father; and sister, Christine Cantrell. He is survived by his two sons, Earl Hickam and wife, Opal of Bloomfield, NM, Marshall Hickam and wife, Marilyn of Lubbock, TX; three daughters, Pearl Parker of Bloomfield, NM, Arleen Netcher of Clovis, NM, Gladys Masters of Farmington; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Watts of Hereford, TX; a cousin, J.B. Quillen of Clovis, NM; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends in the Farmington, Chama, Albuquerque and Bernalillo areas. He also leaves behind two very Dear Friends, Mae Ware and Louise Davenport. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., today, at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 1999 at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care and conducted by Roy Dale Kuykendall. Johanson -- Wayne D. Johanson, 50, of Aztec, NM, passed away Monday, July 26, 1999 while vacationing in Florida after an 18-month battle with cancer. Wayne, born October 22, 1948 in Brooklyn, NM, lived in Miami, FL until 1981, when he transferred to Farmington with the phone company. He had an extreme passion for snow skiing, auto racing, and hot air ballooning. He spent every opportunity with his hot air ballooning friends. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; sons, Erick Johanson and wife, Karen of Asheville, NC, Daniel Johanson of Chicago, IL; daughter, Sara Johanson of New Orleans, LA; step-daughters, Shirley Cook and Chevonne Cook of Flora Vista, NM; father, Victor Johanson and wife, Judy of Farmington; mother, Dorothy Bowman and husband, Gary of Miami, FL; brother, Bruce Johanson of Orlando, FL; and countless cherished friends. Liou -- Dr. Jih-Ning Liou, 45, a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years, passed away Saturday, August 7, 1999. He is survived by his wife, I-Ming Chen; and sons, David Liou and Jason Liou, all of Albuquerque. Dr. Liou was a member and past president of the Albuquerque Chinese Chorus. He was also an active member of New Mexico Chinese School of Language and Arts. Dr. Liou received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from UNM and his Masters degree from Iowa State University. Moya -- George Edward Garley Moya, 57, beloved son, husband, brother, father and grandfather, passed away on August 9, 1999, surrounded by his devoted family. After having surgery for a malignant brain tumor in May 99, George continued to live his life to the fullest. He spent quality time with his family and learned how many friends he truly had. His strong faith carried him to the very end. George was a resident of Bosque Farms since 1962. He married his wonderful wife, Evangeline (Vangie) Barranca Moya on September 23, 1961 and had three beautiful children of whom he was extremely proud. He was a loving son to his mother, Erlinda Garley Moya also of Bosque Farms. He was preceded in death by his father, Castulo C. Moya Sr. in 1986; and his father-in-law, Leandro Barranca in 1996. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his three children, all from Los Lunas, daughter, Yvonne Moya Storey and her husband, Eugene; his son, George Moya Jr. and his wife, Brandy; and his daughter, Angela Moya. His four grandsons, Jarrod and Justy Storey and Landon and Dalton Moya were his shining stars. He is also survived by three brothers, Castulo (Cass) Moya Jr. and wife, Anita from Caballo, NM, Arthur Moya and wife, Erlinda from Albuquerque, Martin Moya and wife, Laura; and his sister, Lupe Duncan and her husband, Gilbert from Bosque Farms; his mother-in-law, Lenor Barranca; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Barranca, Quirina Lopez, Christina Sedillo and her husband, Leddie, Sally Teupell and her husband, George, Dolores Gonzalez and Joey, Mary Helen Mirabal and her husband, Stanley, all from Albuquerque, and Manuel Perea from Belen; along with many loving nephews and nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. George graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1959 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Albuquerque in 1978 with an additional degree in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force in 1986. He joined the New Mexico Air National Guard in 1958 and served loyally until his retirement in 1994. As an aircraft mechanic full-time with the Air National Guard on Kirtland AF Base, he served in Vietnam from June 1968 through June 1969, and through the years worked on various type of aircraft, traveling all over Europe and to various states, including Alaska and Hawaii. He loved airplanes and could tell you about each kind. At the time of his retirement, he had become maintenance superintendent and had attained the top grade of Chief Master Sergeant. George culminated his career with over 36 dedicated years of combined military and federal service. He held various positions in the community, including coaching with the Yucca Little League and Babe Ruth teams. At one time, he served on the Bosque Farms Planning and Zoning Committee and was elected Executive Officer of the Los Lunas Chapter of the VFW. Upon his retirement, George served as a substitute teacher with the Los Lunas Schools and was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Peralta, having served as lector, eucharistic minister, maintenance committee coordinator, member and later President of the Pastoral Council. He was also a Knight of Columbus Third Degree. In September 1998, he and other members of the parish took on a massive project to remodel the Sangre de Cristo Mission Church in Valencia. He gave countless hours working to complete this project. The church was completed in April 1999 and his efforts will continue to live on for future generations. Rosary will be held at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Valencia, NM on Wednesday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will also be at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with interment following in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church is located two miles south of the Peralta Church. Pallbearers will be members of the Air National Guard, Albert Baldonado, Richard Chavez, Francisco Gonzalez, Virgilio Lopez, Johnny Lucero, Tony Martinez, Jesse Pacheco, Art Salas, Jerry Trujillo, and Steve Vigil. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Lovelace Medical Center for the excellent treatment and dignity given to George. Romero Funeral Home, in Belen, is in charge of arrangements. And he said to Jesus,"Remember me, Jesus, when you come as King!" Jesus said to him,"I promise you that today you will be in Paradise with Me."

Sheppard -- Floyd A. Sheppard, 87, died on August 9, 1999 in Albuquerque. He was born in Logan County, Arkansas and worked in the oil fields in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana for 30 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1961, where he worked for Furrs Cafeteria until early retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Hazel; and a daughter, Nancy. He is survived by two sons, Floyd Sheppard Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Ozona, TX and Donald Sheppard and wife, Jodie of Grants, NM; a daughter, Dorothy Scoggins of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., this evening, at Sandia Funeral Care. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 12, at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. Pallbearers will be Tommy Sheppard, Damen Scoggins, Al Puglise, Darin Sheppard, David Sheppard and Chris Archuleta. Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Simms -- Everett Earl Simms,"Govner", passed away quietly August 5, 1999 at his home in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Greg Simms on February 3, 1968. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose Simms; daughters, Sandy Stambaugh and fiance, Ron Carman, Barbara Carlson and husband, Steve, Diane Malcolm and husband, David; sons, Kenneth Simms and wife, Charlene, and Doug Simms; and 12 grandchildren, who all live in Albuquerque. He was born in Longmont, Colorado on February 12, 1916. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II and was part of the Flying Tigers A.V.G. After his military service, he worked for Hardin & Coggins, Miller & Smith, Universal Grading, and Universal Constructors as Superintendent of Heavy Equipment. He played a major role in the building of roads, bridges, dams, shopping centers, and other transportation development that are the foundation of the city of Albuquerque. He was a 41 year member of the Elks Lodge #461. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. A private memorial was held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. Everett Simms was a great man, a loving and devoted husband and father, who now soars on wings like eagles.

Sinks -- Mitchell S."Mitch" Sinks passed away on Thursday, August 5, 1999, at the age of 55, after a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 17 1/2 years, Judi; stepson, Steven J. Westman, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Paula Fox; granddaughter, Alex Ward; two brothers, Eugene"Bo" Sinks and wife, Jenny and Howard"H.K." Sinks and wife, Carla, all of Oregon; sister, Maxine Pepperdine of California; his beloved Aunt Judy and husband, Ray Murphy of Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Marj Miller of Texas. Mitch leaves behind many friends and neighbors who meant the world to him; and his"babies" Heather and Hannah, his faithful Scotties, who he loved dearly. He owned and operated Mitch's Power Wash for a number of years. There will be a gathering Sunday, August 29, 1999, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mitch and Judi's home, to celebrate Mitch's life. Vigil -- Phillip Martin Vigil, age 11, of Milan, NM, passed away Sunday afternoon at Cibola General Hospital. Phillip was born September 7, 1987 in Albuquerque. Phillip is survived by his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Joe Sambrano of Milan; his father, Marty Vigil and his girlfriend, Nea of Cuba, NM; one brother, Carlos Vigil of Milan; one sister, Shianne Sambrano of Milan; his paternal grandparents, Camilo and Alice Vigil of Cuba; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Theresa Hofheins of Albuquerque; his great-grandfather, Virginio Sandoval of Cuba; his great-grandmother, Josephine Vigil of Cuba; and his great-grandmother, Betty Wood of Albuquerque. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a Rosary at Immaculate conception Catholic Church in Cuba on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Grants Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keith Suazo, Noah Quintana, Steven Herrera, Dominic Herrera, Andrew Hofheins, Chris Hofheins, Derrick Baca and Terry Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be friends from Cuba, all his friends from Grants, his little league baseball and basketball teams, Dustin, Lamar, Matthew Garcia and Christopher Hofheins. Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Vinzant -- Linda Marie Vinzant, age 51, was born in Albuquerque on January 17, 1948. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, August 8, 1999 after her courageous battle with cancer. She gave the gift of grace and kindness to everyone near her during her life and illness. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Vinzant; and by her son, David Byroad. She is also survived by her father and step-mother, Forrest Glenn and Wanda Frazier; her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Bob Vanderslice; her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Ina Frazier; and sister, Deborah Frazier; also six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Rae Boatman, who passed away October 24, 1993. Linda will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ, where she attended church at Rio Rancho Calvary Chapel, but we who know Christ sorrow not as those who have no hope. First Thessalonians 4:13 as we will all be reunited eternally. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 10:00 a.m., at Rio Rancho Calvary Chapel, 138-A Frontage Rd., Rio Rancho, off of 5-28, two blocks south of Northern. Burial following memorial at Vista Verde Memorial, 4310 Sara Rd., in Rio Rancho.
