Wayne D. Johanson, 50, of Aztec, NM, passed away Monday, July 26, 1999 while vacationing in Florida after an 18-month battle with cancer. Wayne, born October 22, 1948 in Brooklyn, NM, lived in Miami, FL until 1981, when he transferred to Farmington with the phone company. He had an extreme passion for snow skiing, auto racing, and hot air ballooning. He spent every opportunity with his hot air ballooning friends. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; sons, Erick Johanson and wife, Karen of Asheville, NC, Daniel Johanson of Chicago, IL; daughter, Sara Johanson of New Orleans, LA; step-daughters, Shirley Cook and Chevonne Cook of Flora Vista, NM; father, Victor Johanson and wife, Judy of Farmington; mother, Dorothy Bowman and husband, Gary of Miami, FL; brother, Bruce Johanson of Orlando, FL; and countless cherished friends. A Memorial celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 1999 at the estate of Chris Byrnie, 1300 Byrnie Lane in Farmington.
