Bryant -- Helen Wilson Bryant, age 80, of Frampton Hall and widow of G. Orell Bryant, died Sunday, May 23, 1999 in the National Health Care Center of Clinton, South Carolina. She was born in Abbeville, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late J. Robert and Janie Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Surviving is one daughter, Sarah Bryant Ortmann of Albuquerque; two sisters, Mary Edwards of Greenwood, SC and Francis Hagen of Abbeville, SC; and two grandchildren, Fred Ortmann and wife, Palmar and Clayton Ortmann, all of Albuquerque. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Bryant. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Frampton Hall Chapel with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Gray Funeral Home, Clinton, SC. Burge -- Samuel A."Sam" Burge, 38, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 24, 1999. Sam was the beloved husband of Dorothy Burge. Sam is also survived by three daughters, Naomi Ogelby and husband, Jeremiah, Isabel Alire and Jessifca Alire; three sons, Sammy Burge, Antonio Alire and Alfred Burge; his Godson, Fibert Romero; his mother, Eva Barker and husband, Bill; his father, Ronald E. Burge; two sisters, Mary Gambling and husband, Stan and Veronica Romero; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and friends. Sam was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Deacon Nestor Garcia, reciting. Bustamante -- Joseph M. Bustamante, 55, a longtime resident of May 21, 1999. Joseph was born March 22, 1944 in Santa Fe, the son of Albino and Tomasita Rivera Bustamante. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Tomasita Bustamante; one sister, Susie Templeton; and one brother, Luciano Bustamante; one niece, Victoria Bustamante; and one nephew, Gillie Lopez. He is survived by two brothers, Santiago Bustamante and his wife, Femia of Santa Fe, Albino Bustamante and his wife, Theresa of Albuquerque; four sisters, Rosaline Lopez and husband, Gilbert of Las Vegas, NM, Dolores Roybal of Albuquerque, Jane Crespin and husband, Ben of La Habra, CA and Tomasita A. Bustamante of Los Alamos, NM; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Bustamante of Belen. He is also survived by 27 nephews and nieces; 29 great-nephews and nieces; and six great-great-nephews and nieces. A musical tribute and memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Danella -- Ralph A. Danella, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, passed away on Monday, May 24, 1999. Ralph was born August 26, 1923, the son of Donato and Theresa Lucadamo Danella in Brooklyn, New York. He had been a garment cutter for many years and then a security guard for First Security before retiring. Ralph had been a past member of the Board of Directors of the Italian American Association of Rio Rancho and an active member of the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife. Ralph is survived by three daughters, Dana Vero and husband, Vic of Scottsdale, AZ, Joann Danella and Peter Alden of Rio Rancho, and Julieanne Welch of Estancia, NM; two sisters, Dolly Dragotta of Henderson, NV and RoseMary Stefan of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Christina Hobson and husband, Seth of Oceanside, CA, Amy Lynn Vero of Tucson, AZ, Michael Anthony Vero of Tucson, AZ, and Anthony Scott Alden of Rio Rancho; great-niece and nephew, Justin Welch-Danella and Lashley Welch of Estancia, NM; and devoted companion, Marjorie DeCandia of Albuquerque. Goar -- Ina Mae Goar, age 94, died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She moved to Estancia Valley in 1935, retiring in Gallup before moving to Albuquerque in 1968. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson. She is survived by daughter, Ouita Shockey and husband, Jim of Alamogordo, NM; sons, L.J. Goar and wife, Sally of Albuquerque, Paul Goar and wife, Phyllis of Bosque Farms, Jack Goar and wife, Cammie of Kingman, AZ; two sisters, Roberta Alexander of Woodard, OK and Lela Peoples of Huntsville, AL. She will lie in state Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Hartline -- Elizabeth"Betty" Hartline, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died on Tuesday, May 25, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Hartline Pettis and husband, Jeffrey; son, Dave Hartline and wife, Annette, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michelle Williams and husband, Tom, Cateline Brow and husband, Paul, Matthew Hartline, Judith Anne Hartline, and Kyle Hartline; great-grandchildren, Thomas Jeffrey Williams, Emma Taylor Williams, Faith Ann Williams, and Ann Michelle Brow; sisters, Dorothy Dawson and Georgie Kupfer and husband, Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hartline on April 11, 1998. She was especially fond of the many hours she spent as a volunteer at St. Joseph Northeast Heights Hospital. She fought the unrelenting attack of Multiple Sclerosis for 46 years with grace and dignity. She is finally free of the chair that held her body, but could never hold her spirit. Jaterka -- Carlo Jaterka, 82, died at home with his wife and daughter on Monday, May 24, 1999, after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosie of 59 years; his daughter, Carol Jaterka Piper; numerous nieces and nephews; in-laws; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Mary Jaterka; four brothers, and three sisters. Carlo was born in Van Houten, NM in 1916. He worked in the Coal Mines in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado and was a lifetime member of the United Mineworkers of America. He was also a member of Christ Risen Savior Catholic Church. The words of his loving family:"A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best. It's lonesome here without you, we miss you more each day. Life doesn't seem the same since you have gone away. Lepp -- Robert E. Lepp, 72, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, May 23, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bette Ann; two daughters, Roberta Susan (Bobbi) Carrillo and her husband, Ben of Edgewood and Kathleen Adell Risley and her husband, Scott of Cedar Crest, NM; four grandchildren, David Robert (Rob) Puckett, Jennifer Susan Risley, Kelsey Karlyn Carrillo and Katie Kileen Carrillo; sister, Margaret Funderburg; brother, Richard Lepp of Albuquerque; nephew, David Funderburg and wife, Mary; niece, Nancy and Bob Anderson of Maryland; great-nephews, David Anderson and John Funderburg; great-niece, Lisa Wood; and great-great-nephew, Cody Wood. Mr. Lepp was a Navy Veteran of WWII, having proudly served in the Pacific in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He retired from the Defense Nuclear Agency at Sandia Base after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, served on the Session, and worked in many other capacities. He was a longtime member of the Albuquerque Elks Lodge #461, and American Legion Post #49. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, coin and stamp collecting, as well as being a shadetree mechanic. He enjoyed his cabin near Cuba, NM, which he built with his son-in-law, Scott. He particularly enjoyed spending time with and doing things for his family. Services will be held Thursday, May 27, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave. NE, the presiding Pastors will be Rev. Kathi M. Hunter and Rev. Leroy Elmore. Mccleskey -- Bernard"Mac" C. McCleskey, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Sunday, May 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma McCleskey of Albuquerque; son, Wayne C. McCleskey of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Sandra A. Mooney -- Anna"Jane" Mooney, 99, a resident of Albuquerque for 75 years, died Sunday, May 23, 1999. She is survived by her son, John Barrow and wife, Betty of Holbrook, AZ; grandson, Leonard Barrow and wife, Karen of Sedona, AZ; granddaughter, Barbara Busick and husband, Ron of Peoria, AZ; great-granddaughter, Katy Bippus and husband, Brad of Flagstaff, AZ; great-grandsons, Steven Barrow of Flagstaff, AZ and Robert Busick of Peoria, AZ; sister, Jewell Bryan of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. O'malley -- James E. O'Malley passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, May 22, 1999. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Christine; daughter, Caryn; sons, Martin, John and Brian, all of Albuquerque; and son, Michael of Taos. Other family members include daughters-in-law, Linda, Karen and Michaela O'Malley of Albuquerque, Sarah Adams of Taos; and son-in-law, Ted Barre of Albuquerque. James was also blessed with seven loving grandchildren, Colin and Lieutenant Derek O'Malley, Kenneth O'Malley, Ryan and Sean Barre, and Shane and Erin O'Malley. Following 20 years of dedicated service, James retired as a decorated Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army. He brought his family to Albuquerque in 1962 where he became coordinator of the"Executive Association of Greater Albuquerque", until his retirement in June of 1981. James and Christine loved traveling together, making several trips to Europe, South America, Hawaii and Canada. James was a devoted husband and family man with a deep Catholic faith and a longstanding member of John XXIII Catholic Parish. Perea -- Manuel R. Perea, 69, a resident of Edgewood for nine years, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 1999 in Albuquerque. Mr. Perea was born October 10, 1929 to Aldolfo and Mena (Carrillo) Perea in Bernalillo. He married Mary J. Chavez, June 23, 1951 in Bernalillo. Manuel was a Veteran of the Korean War and received a Purple Heart when he was injured, he also was member of The State Council of Boy Scouts. Manuel was a volunteer at the V.A. Hospital and a member of the American Legion Post 401 and a member of The Chosen Few. Mr. Perea was also a member of the Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Edgewood. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary J. Perea; his sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel Jr. and Rosemary Perea, Adolfo Sonny and Rosemarie Perea, John Fitzgerald Perea and Michael Paul and Diana Perea; four daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine Perea, Elizabeth Ann and Jim Salas, Sandra Marie and David Sisneros, and Priscilla Jean Perea; one brother and sister-in-law, William T. and Esmeralda Perea; one sister, Romona Perea; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 26, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Edgewood. Self -- After a 13 year courageous battle with cancer, Leslie S. Self, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, passed away Monday, May 24, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Randy S. Self of Albuquerque; daughter, Jennifer Wilkerson, M.D. and husband, Donnie of Dallas, TX; daughters by marriage, Lisa Bradley and fiance, Steven Ortega and Julie Barr and husband, Andrew, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Tyler Wilkerson of Dallas, TX; mother, Loraine L. Sweeney of Albuquerque; sisters, Gail Walker and husband, Jim of Albuquerque and Terry Sweeney of Pennsylvania. Leslie was preceded in death by her father, George A. Sweeney. She was a great fan and supporter of Lobo Athletics. Leslie was responsible for the Leslie S. Self Inspirational Award, which is presented to a female athlete each year. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, San Marcial #34. Leslie attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. Smith -- Shirley Jean Smith, 68, of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, May 22, 1999, at her home after a short battle with lung cancer. Shirley was born May 5, 1931 in Jones, OK to Thomas and Lucille Blaney. Shirley is survived by her brother, Richard Blaney and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; her sister, Sandra Norlander and husband, John of Montrose, CO; her husband, James Smith; her seven children, son, Herbert R. Smith and wife, Dee of Albuquerque, son, Ronald W. Smith and wife, Sherry of Riverton, KS, son, Thomas J. McKenzie of Albuquerque, daughter, Judith J. Bjorkman and husband, Tye of Edgewood, daughter, Rachel S. Smith of Albuquerque, son, Michael Tessman and wife, Melinda of Grapton, ND and daughter, Jennifer K. Gomez and husband, Ronald of Albuquerque. Also 29 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous friends she called family. Family and friends will best remember Shirley as the Bakery Hostess and"Cookie Lady" at Albertson's Grocery Store where she worked for 21 years. Shirley touched many lives and quickly became friends with everyone she met. Mom could always be recognized by her love for the color pink and flowers in her hair. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 1999, at First Spanish Baptist Church, 2804 Bel Air NE, in Albuquerque. Flowers may be sent to Shirley's home at 9101 Gutierrez NE, in Albuquerque, or in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name. Cremation arrangements were provided by Metropolitan Direct Burial and Cremation Center, Inc., 601 Mountain Rd. NW, Albuquerque, 766-9400.

Stirling -- Betty B. Stirling, age 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, died May 22, 1999. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Stirling of Albuquerque, Guerry Stirling and husband, Thomas Willis of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren, Leticia Thompson, Sophia Thompson, Geneva Thompson, all of Albuquerque; four sisters, Barbara Florence, Lena Trowbridge of Parkersburg, W. Virginia, Patricia Zickerfoose of Marietta, OH and Lois (Blanche) Cody. Betty was a very feisty, strong-willed lady who kept abreast of current events. Until her health failed, she devoted a lot of time to the Women's Club, working directly to build shelters for battered women and assist state adoption programs. She cared for her three grandchildren before and after school. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 28, 1999 at 5:00 p.m. in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, with the Rev. Ned Ross, officiating. Stuttler -- 1978-1999 Michael Anthony Stuttler, 20, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 1999. He is survived by his mother, Sally Mills and step-father, Lloyd Mills of Belen; one sister, Kathryn Koppel of Belen; two brothers, James Stuttler and Andrew Stuttler of Belen; his grandmother, Thelma Green of Belen; an aunt, Virginia Baldwin of Lancaster, OH; and two cousins, Cathy McDonnaugh and Stephanie Starkey, both of Lancaster, OH. Michael was very loved and will be sorely missed. Memorial services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Riverside Funeral Home in Belen.
