Obituary for Stirling

Betty B. Stirling, age 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1991, died May 22, 1999. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Stirling of Albuquerque, Guerry Stirling and husband, Thomas Willis of Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren, Leticia Thompson, Sophia Thompson, Geneva Thompson, all of Albuquerque; four sisters, Barbara Florence, Lena Trowbridge of Parkersburg, W. Virginia, Patricia Zickerfoose of Marietta, OH and Lois (Blanche) Cody. Betty was a very feisty, strong-willed lady who kept abreast of current events. Until her health failed, she devoted a lot of time to the Women's Club, working directly to build shelters for battered women and assist state adoption programs. She cared for her three grandchildren before and after school. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 28, 1999 at 5:00 p.m. in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, with the Rev. Ned Ross, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Battered Women's Shelter, P.O. Box 25363, Albuquerque, NM 87125. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.
