Albaugh -- Aileen Keller Albaugh, 71, a resident of Albuquerque died, Tuesday, September 8, 1998 formerly of Cincinnati and Dayton, OH. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Wendel L. Albaugh of Albuquerque; sons, and daughters-in-law, Rev. Thomas G. and Martha Albaugh of Palmer, AK, Richard L. and Donna Albaugh of Richmond, KY, James B. Albaugh of Houston, TX; daughter Rebecca S. Albaugh of Monteray, KY; and twelve grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, John R. Albaugh of Dayton, OH. She attended Northwestern University and graduated from The University of Cincinnati in 1949. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Mrs. Albaugh was a pianist, teacher and active member of the American Matthay Association. Cremains will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Where graveside services will be held, Thursday, September 10, 1998 with Rev. Thomas G. Albaugh officiating. Ballew -- Mary E. Ballew, 75, died Sunday, September 6, 1997. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Noble Ballew, of Albuquerque; sons, Ken N. Cristanelli -- Sherwin Ernest"Cris" Cristanelli. The Cristanelli family is sad to announce the unexpected passing of their patriarch, Cris, on Wednesday, September 2, 1998, in Little Rock, Arkansas. A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas More, 8035 W. Quebec, Englewood, Colorado at 3pm on Thursday, September 10. There will also be an informal gathering at the Rancho de Corrales Restaurant (T-House) in Corrales, NM on Saturday September 12, at 3:00 p.m. Cris is survived by his wife, sister, five children and three grandchildren. The family asks that in lieu of flowers or gifts that donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name and direct that the gift be used to support hypertension research.

Daugherty -- L. Jean Daugherty, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982, passed away Saturday, September 5, 1998. Jean was born on July 11, 1919 to Morton and Nellie Sanders in Superior, NE. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1940, with a degree in Journalism. Her working career included Newsletters for charitable organizations and her retirement was from the Public Affairs office at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William M. Daugherty and his dedicated guide dog, Marty; daughter, Patricia Ann Marianetti and husband, Paul all of Albuquerque; brother, Leon Sanders and wife, Elva of Norton, OH; sister, Doris Sanders Moore of West Palm Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Jean's extended family includes her"Dutch" granddaughter, Bregtije Andela of Groening, The Netherlands; her favorite"Girls", Sheba and Pookie' and her many acquaintances and cohorts in the field of Journalism and with her love of Western history. Her family and many friends will miss this gracious lady, loving wife, and caring mother. The family would like to thank the staff and 2nd floor nurses at Manzano del Sol for their care. Hall -- Robert James Hall, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 1998 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Laurel Hope Hall; son, James D. Hall and wife, Dorothy; daughter, Genevive Fisher and husband, Bill, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law Edna Jane Grimm Harmon and husband, Jon of Manbaton Beach, CA; grandchildren Julia Harmon and husband, Jon, Deborah Hall, Glenn B. Smith and wife, Lorraine, Rebecca Sue Hall, Dirk N. Smith, Wendy A. Fickers and husband, David, Genia L. Muniz, Kathy Bisson and husband, Jim, all of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Robert graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1925 and then attended UNM. He worked for Albuquerque National Bank as a file clerk and retired as vice-president and manager. His community activities included treasurer of the March of Dimes, an Albuquerque Community Chest Trustee of both 1st Presbyterian and North Minster Presbyterian Churches, he played the violin and viola in the first Albuquerque Civic Symphony and was active in many other civic organizations. A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at 11 a.m. (1801 Montano Rd. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87107). King -- Marion Elise Gillette King, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1979, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 1998. Marion was born December 24, 1924, the daughter of Raymond Henry and Elise Gibson Gillette in Watertown, Connecticut. She was married to Willard J. King on February 8, 1947. Marion and Willard moved to Woodbury, Connecticut and raised three daughters, Judith A.K. Chapman, Joann K. Moore, Joyce A. King; and two grandchildren, Raymond Eugene King and Pauline Marie McClain. While living in Woodbury, Marion was involved with the Girl Scouts for 18 years, the Woodbury Fire Department Auxiliary for 30 years, and was retired from the Finest Food store in Watertown before moving to Rio Rancho in 1979. In Rio Rancho, Marion became involved with Willard's Lawn Care Service, the Lion's Club, the Elk Lodge #2500, Charter member of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of the Does, a member of the Lady Elks, a member of the Moose Lodge #1266 since 1992, and a sponsor of the local 4-H Club for the past 18 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Gillette of Watertown, CT. Marion is survived by her husband of 51 years, Willard J. King; her three daughters; and two grandchildren; brother, Sherwin Gillette of Naugatuck, CT; along with many nieces and nephews around the country. Lujan -- Margaret Lujan, 81, beloved and devoted mother and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord Monday, September 7, 1998. She was a resident of Albuquerque; born on April 8, 1917 in Socorro, NM to Ignacio and Andreaita Torres; a parishioner of San Jose Mission in Los Duranes. She is survived by five sons, Tony and wife, Mary Ann of San Francisco, CA, Pablo and wife, Theresa of San Antonio, TX, James of Albuquerque, Edward and wife, Linda of Los Angeles, CA, Ralph and wife, Rose of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those whom knew and loved her. Marble -- Esther"Birdie" A. Marble, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Thursday, September 3, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley A. Grant of Albuquerque; one grandson, Michael Wallace and wife, Brenda of Farmington; two granddaughters, Leanne Miller and husband, James and Karen D. May -- Chester Leroy May, born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 10, 1924, died on August 27, 1998 after a long battle with leukemia. He is survived by three daughters, Leslie Metzen and Nancy Wilson of Saint Paul, MN, Connie Fleischer of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren; and longtime companion, Sylvia Goulka. Chet was a retired Air Traffic Controller and a WWII veteran. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Shrine Temple. Burial was performed at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mcmillin -- David Andrew"Andy" McMillin, 79, a resident of Peralta for the past 15 years and formerly of Albuquerque, died Saturday, September 5, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Opal, of the family home: daughter, Marian Martinelli and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; sons, Robert McMillin and wife, Norma of Napoleon, MO, David McMillin and wife, Velma of Otterville, MO, Walter McMillin and Lynn of Casper, WY and Harold McMillin and Chrys of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren, Scott, Robin, Belinda, David Jr., Amy, Cher, Stephanie, Michelle, Nicole, Jamie, Corrin, Sarah, Jessica and Dana; and 8 great-grandchildren. Mr. McMillin retired from Southeastern Public Service in 1983. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, bowler and gardener. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress (ABC) and a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was Past Commander of the VFW in Kansas City and a member of the NRA. Andy ran a small bait and tackle supply company, OMAC, from his home for the last 15 years. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplin Col. Lemuel Boyles, USAF, Ret., officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Wade Kendall, Lowell Christenson, Bill Merrick, Ron Smith, Al Seery and Max Lucero. Ryals -- Our community must endure the loss of a wonderful man, Bill Ryals, who is now at peace and with his God, his good friend, Robert Riddle and sister, Gigi. Bill's suffering ended on Saturday, September 5, 1998, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife and strength, Clair, who was always at his side; his mother, Juliet; and brother, Bobby. Sainz -- Mrs. Josephine P."Pepita" Sainz went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, 1998. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Antonio and Juan Perez. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Societies at the St. Anne Church. She is survived by her husband, Louie Sainz; four sons, Louie Sainz Jr, Edward Sainz and wife, Kathy, Antonio Sainz and wife, Mary Helen and Robert Sainz and fiancee, Claudia; seven daughters, Lita Cortez and husband, Richard, Simona Cordova, Lupe Garcia and husband, Jose, Mary Lou Sainz, Rosalina Lucero and companion, Art, Linda Ramirez and Mary Esther Candelaria; one sister, Elvira Perez of Sacramento, CA; 31 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandoval -- Mr. Jesus (Shu Shu) Sandoval died Tuesday in Albuquerque at the age of 99. Mr. Sandoval is preceded in death by his wife, Martina Sandoval, son, Nazario Gonzales; and daughter-in-law, Eloisa Gonzales. He is survived by his son, Philmon Gonzales, of Utah; grandchildren, Andy and Martin Tafoya, Susie and Joe Trujillo, Shirley and Cisto Abeyta, Carmen Gonzales and Dean Iliff, Mercy Gonzales and Horace Gonzales; eight great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Smith -- Candace Carstens Smith, 100, an Albuquerque resident for 60 years, died Sunday, September 6, 1998, at the Montebello Retirement Community. Wife of the late Dane F. Smith, Professor of English, for whom the new classroom building at the University of New Mexico is named, she was the daughter of the founder of the Child Welfare League of America and the mother of both the current United States Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal and a teacher in APS. Born in Marshalltown, IA, during the year of the Spanish American War, Mrs. Smith attended Grinell College, graduated from Smith College in 1921, and , after working as a secretary and teacher, earned a Ph.D., in history in 1937 from Radcliffe College, now part of Harvard University. That year she married Professor Dane Smith and moved into the home they had built in"faculty row" on Roma Avenue, where she remained after her husband's death in 1968 until the residence was torn down in 1996 to make way for the new classroom building. She assisted Professor Smith in his research and writing and was largely responsible for the posthumous publication of his last book, Plays about the Theaters, Volume II. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of the Tuesday Literary Club. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Candace Mize of Albuquerque; a son, Ambassador Dane F. Smith, Jr.; and four grandchildren. Spragg -- Jeffery Jerome and Carlo Jo Johnson-Spragg, died Saturday, September 5, 1998. They are survived by their child, Michelle Marie Spragg. Jeffrey was the son of Bonnie Stanley of Albuquerque and Darrell Spragg of Lachine, MI; step-son of Linda Seiss of Alpena, MI and Norman Stanley of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his brother, Gregory Ardine Spragg of Alpena, MI; sister, Annette Averil Benavidez of Roy, UT; half-brother, Joshua Spragg of Lachine, MI; step-brother, Bobby Spragg of Alpena, MI; and step-sisters, Carrie Forest and Debbie Samp, both of Alpena, MI. Carla Jo was the daughter of Josephine Wallace of Albuquerque and Carl Johnson of Gallup, NM. She is also survived by her sisters, Cindi Andersen and husband, Kurt of Ramah, NM and Elena Gorman and husband, Patrick of Denver, CO; nephew, Ian Andersen of Ramah, NM; and paternal grandmother, Margaret Adamac of Poynette, WI. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, two brothers, and sister. Westcott -- Joanne Westcott, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 1998. She is survived by her sister, Ann Fitzwater of Albuquerque; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was born June 22, 1910 in the Ukraine but spent most of her life in western New York where she worked as a licensed practical nurse. She was a former member of the UNM Hospital Auxillary, Women's Auxillary of St. Charles and Duke City Bridge Club. There will be a memorial mass for Joanne by Fr.
