HASSE -- Thelma Louise Hasse, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away September, 24, 2005 after an 18-month fight. She was born in Lincoln, NE on January 12, 1934 to Richard L. and Valrea M. King. She spent her childhood years in the Palisade and Fruitvale areas of Colorado graduating from Central High School in 1952. Thelma and her husband, William S. Hasse, were married on March 15, 1952 in Boulder, CO. She loved being a homemaker and raising her two children, William Jr. and Linda. In 1976, Thelma and Bill established Hasse Contracting Company working together side by side as they built the business. Following retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and entertaining at the family cabin near Dolores, CO. Thelma will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is treasured for her enthusiasm, optimism, patience, and thoughtfulness. She especially enjoyed nurturing her family and expressed gratitude each day for those she loved. Her valiant spirit and selfless courage in the face of adversity were examples for us all. Her open and accepting heart will be greatly missed. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth King; and a grandson, Benjamin Gallea. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William; children, William Hasse Jr. and wife, Deborah and Linda Gallea and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Roy and Elizabeth Gallea, Travis Hasse and wife, Rebecca, Sara Sparman and husband, James, Christian Hasse and wife, Brittany; great-grandchild, Rachel; brothers, Robert L. King of Grand Junction, CO and Donald E. King of Stockton, CA; sister-in-law, Margery King of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. MACPHERSON -- William Herbert MacPherson, 63, died peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2005 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born June 1, 1942 in Hoboken, NJ, grew up in Weehawken, NJ, and lived most of his working life in Lakewood and Jackson, NJ. He moved to Albuquerque in 1986. Bill retired from federal service in 1995 after 31 years as an electronics engineer at Ft. Monmouth, NJ and Kirtland AFB, NM. He was active in the Coalition for Excellence in Science and Math Education and in New Mexicans for Science and Reason, and avidly pursued interests in astronomy, history, and music. Surviving are his father, William G. MacPherson, of Weehawken, NJ; his son, James MacPherson, of Albuquerque; and his brothers, Walter MacPherson, of South Daytona, FL, and Gerald MacPherson of Totowa, NJ. His mother, Ruth Burns MacPherson, predeceased him. The family especially thanks Bill's dedicated caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living and Presbyterian Hospice staff who cared for him during the last months of his life. A memorial service will be held at Sunrise Funeral Options, 7601 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, at 10:00 a.m. on October 12. Friends may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice, or to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra (www.nmso.org).

DALBEY -- Hortense Black "Mimi" Dalbey passed away quietly on August 17, 2005 at Manzano Del Sol Good Samaritan Village. She was 90 years old, born in the mining town of Dawson, New Mexico. A long time resident of Albuquerque, she graduated from Albuquerque High School class of 1933, and earned a Nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital, Regina School of Nursing (1935). Hortense was active in Hilltop Women's Golf Association and the Albuquerque Country Club Women's Golf Association. She was also a member of Albuquerque Rose and Garden Society. She was preceded in death by her husband John B. Dalbey; and brothers, Harmon, Leo, Loren, and Bill Black. Hortense was survived by her sister, Nellie Black Crater, who has since passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2005. Hortense is survived by daughters, Carolyn "Pat" Findley of Salida, CO, and Donna Ness of Albuquerque; brothers, Phillip and John Black; nephews, Tim Crater, Jim and Bruce Black; three grandchildren, Alan Findley, Barbara Buckman, and Rebecca Cox; and five great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Lindsey Findley, Mason and Conner Buckman, and Camden Cox. FRANKLIN -- Lawrence "Larry" Franklin, age 92, of Albuquerque for over 20 years, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2005. He was born in Beverly, MA on September 26, 1913 to Llewelyn and Eleanor (Wood) Franklin. He is survived by his son, George and wife, Sally, of Albuquerque; son Rev. David Franklin of Ridgefield, CT; daughter Gail Hanagan and her husband, Bill of Singapore; grandchildren Jeffrey Franklin and wife, Charity, Rebecca Wiseman and husband, Master Sergeant Sonny, Bridget Hanagan and Nora Hanagan; great-grandchildren Troy and Savanna Wiseman, Lauren, Alicia and Colin Franklin. He was preceded in death by his former wife; Josephine Cataldo Franklin and step-son Vincent James Cataldo. Jimmy's wife Anna and their children and grandchildren also survive. Larry worked for many years as an advertising manager at the Salem Evening News in Salem, MA. He embarked on a new career with the Fred Harvey Company at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Larry worked at the Grand Canyon for over 10 years at Moqui Lodge and formed lasting friendships with fellow employees from across the United States as well as many guests from all over the world. During WWII and after, Larry served as a volunteer fireman with the Beverly Fire Department and began a lifelong interest in firefighting and fire trucks. Visitors to his residence at Westwind House were frequently invited to view his extensive collection of model fire trucks. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel. ALLEN -- Ben H. Allen, age 83, beloved husband father, grandfather, and brother, was gently and lovingly wrapped in the arms of the Lord and taken to his Eternal home, Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Ben was born in Tifton, GA, and was a resident of Albuquerque. He was a member of the Northdale Baptist Church in Albuquerque; and a member of the American Legion Pipefitter, Local #72 in Atlanta, GA. Ben was a proud Veteran, who served his country during World War II. Ben is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret A. Allen of the family home; his son, W.M. (Bill) Hartley and wife, Diana of Rio Rancho; his grandchildren, William M. Hartley and wife, Melissa, Stacey Perez; great-grandchildren, William Hartley, III, Samantha Hartley, and Marshall Perez. Also surviving are a brother, Hugh Allen and wife, Juanita of Albany, GA; nephew, Steve Allen and wife, Joy; and other beloved family members and friends. Ben will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. A Memorial Service will be conducted Tuesday , September 27, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Northdale Baptist Church. CRONICAN -- Harriett Bates Cronican passed away peacefully at her home Monday, September 19, 2005. She was born December 27, 1920 to J.W. "Jack" and Caroline Colcord Bates in Oklahoma City, OK. Raised and educated in Tulsa, she attended Principia Collage in Elsah, IL and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Tulsa, Albuquerque, and Boston. Mrs. Cronican was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack. After wartime assignments in New Mexico and Texas, she and her family moved to Albuquerque in January 1945. She was a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and helped organize, and became a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque. She loved flowers and flower arranging. She was interested in Opera and Symphony and was chairperson for the first Donitas' ball. Mrs. Cronican was a member of the Colonial Dames of America. Her favorite sport was golf and she was a charter member of Four Hills Country Club and, to date, a senior member of the Albuquerque Country Club. She had a second home on the golf course at Angel Fire, NM. Mrs. Cronican is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank; sons, Frank, Jr. and wife, Jonny, Peter and wife, Linda; daughter, Lynn and husband, Robb Jones; brother, W.C. "Bill" Bates and wife, Pat; and six grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Cremains to be privately interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
