Obituary for CRONICAN

Harriett Bates Cronican, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, September 19, 2005. She was born December 27, 1920 to J.W. "Jack" and Caroline Colcord Bates in Oklahoma City, OK. Raised and educated in Tulsa, she attended Principia Collage in Elsah, IL and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Tulsa, Albuquerque, and Boston. Mrs. Cronican was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack. After wartime assignments in New Mexico and Texas, she and her family moved to Albuquerque in January 1945. She was a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and helped organize, and became a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque. She loved flowers and flower arranging. She was interested in Opera and Symphony and was chairperson for the first Donitas' ball. Mrs. Cronican was a member of the Colonial Dames of America. Her favorite sport was golf and she was a charter member of Four Hills Country Club and, to date, a senior member of the Albuquerque Country Club. She had a second home on the golf course at Angel Fire, NM. Mrs. Cronican is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank; sons, Frank, Jr. and wife, Jonny, Peter and wife, Linda; daughter, Lynn and husband, Robb Jones; brother, W.C. "Bill" Bates and wife, Pat; and six grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Cremains to be privately interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
